Where to Watch “Culture Shock”: Hulu
“Into the Dark,” which wrapped its second season earlier this year on Hulu, is an anthology series. By its nature, there’s a certain hit-or-miss quality, especially when the horror collection adds the constraint of tying each installment into a holiday. Some can get too cute by half, while others (like Nacho Vigalondo’s bonkers “Pooka!” or the most recent “Blood Moon”) strip away those ties to find the thematic strength underneath.
It’s what makes “Culture Shock,” the Gigi Saul Guerrero-directed episode of “Into the Dark,” shocking at times, and it also makes it difficult to talk around the specific turns it takes without giving away its ultimate goal. Still, effectively told in three parts, it balances all of those inputs, making it a standout among “Into the Dark” episodes and the greater Blumhouse body of work at large.

The fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin last week on the Santa Fe set of Rust wasn’t the first time First Assistant Director David Hills worked on a film where a weapon discharged unexpectedly.
Back in late 2019, a gun went off on the Arkansas set of Freedom’s Path, where Halls was an Ad. The incident caused a member of the Rocket Soul Studios-produced movie’s sound department to jump back from the close-by blast.
“First of all, our condolences go out to everyone affected by the recent tragic event in New Mexico,” said one of the producers of Freedom’s Path to Deadline today.
“I can confirm that Dave Halls was fired from the set of Freedom’s Path in 2019 after a crew member incurred a minor and temporary injury when a gun was unexpectedly discharged,” he added. “Halls was removed from set immediately after the prop gun discharged.

Hulu’s Into The Dark horror anthology continues with their New Year’s-themed movie Midnight Kiss which has set its cast that includes Augustus Prew (The Morning Show), Scott Evans (Grace and Frankie), Ayden Mayeri (Veep), Lukas Gage (Euphoria), Chester Lockhart (Glamorous), and Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Ok). The series from Blumhouse Television will be directed by Carter Smith with a script from Erlingur Thoroddsen. It will premiere on December 27 — right in time for New Year’s Eve.
Midnight Kiss follows a group of longtime gay best friends and their resident fruit fly as they head to a beautiful desert home to celebrate New Year’s Eve. One of their annual traditions is to play a game called Midnight Kiss, a sexy but ultimately dangerous challenge to find that special someone to help you ring in the New Year. Viewed through a certain lens, Jumanji can be classified as a horror film. A young boy being sucked into a board game, left to fend for himself in the wild for decades? Another young boy turned into a hideous monkey-person? Giant, skittering spiders dripping with poison? A massive, bloodthirsty plant? All the Robin Williams jokes in the world can't erase the fact that the 1995 movie is essentially a nightmarish spin on every parents' "it's just a game" ethos. There's no mistaking the genre of the Halloween-themed episode of Hulu's Into the Dark, though, which takes the scariest elements from Jumanji and runs with them.
Into the Dark is Hulu's anthology series in partnership with Blumhouse, which has steadily churned out an episode of season-appropriate horror since premiering last October. ‘Friends’ Anniversary
Fathom Events’ three-night showing of NBC’s sitcom “Friends” generated $2.9 million from over 1,600 North American theaters — the second-highest-grossing 2019 U.S. event cinema release after “Bts World Tour.”
Fathom and Warner Bros. partnered on “Friends 25th: The One With The Anniversary,” which attracted more than 230,000 admissions. The release was the widest ever for Fathom, which is operated jointly by the AMC, Cinemark and Regal chains.

I know Gigi has said that nothing will ever come between our friendship, that she will never be too famous for me, but at this rate I don't think she is going to have a say in the matter any more. Pretty soon using "But, I'm a friend of hers!" won't get me past her handlers at the door. She directed a smack of short films over the years under her Luchagore banner. She directed the award winning web series La Quinceañera for Warner Bros. She just made her feature debut with Culture Shock, a chapter of the Blumhouse/Hulu series Into the Dark. She signed a first-look film and TV deal with Blumhouse after that, directed the season finale of season two of their...

Exclusive: It’s going to be a terrifying Thanksgiving. Hulu’s horror event series Into the Dark has set Kerr Smith (Riverdale), Reign Edwards (Snowfall), Peter Giles (Man Seeking Woman), Courtney Henggeler (Cobra Kai), Taj Speights (Grey’s Anatomy) and Antonio Raul Corbo (Broke) for the “Pilgrim” installment of the Blumhouse Television series.
Into the Dark includes 12 feature-length episodes, released each month over one year and inspired by a holiday, featuring Blumhouse’s signature genre/thriller spin on the story. Marcus Dunstan directed “Pilgrim” and co-wrote it with Patrick Melton as well as Noah Feinberg. It will premiere on November 1.
“Pilgrim” is inspired by true events and follows Ms. Anna Barker, who invites Pilgrim re-enactors to her family’s Thanksgiving in an effort to remind them of their privilege and help them bond. When the “actors” refuse to break character, the Barker family learns that there is such a thing as too much gratitude.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Culture Shock,” the July 4 installment of “Into the Dark,” streaming on Hulu.
When Gigi Saul Guerrero set out to take the helm of the July 4th installment of “Into The Dark,” the director had a very specific vision for the tone. The plot of the film centers on a young, pregnant woman named Marisol (Martha Higareda) who crosses the Mexican-American border illegally and wakes up in a “Pleasantville”-style small town. There things seem idyllic with their bright colors, cheerful neighbors and volunteer spirit, but soon enough cracks in the veneer begin to show through. The town is not real at all, but instead a virtual reality simulation that immigrants have been hooked up to in a lab.
“The brutality and the inhumane subject matter is there, and unfortunately we see that every day for awhile now and it’s quite heartbreaking.

Just in time for Independence Day, the latest episode of the Blumhouse TV/Hulu series Into the Dark is set to premiere on July 4th. Entitled Culture Shock, the film is directed by Gigi Saul Guerrero and is centered around a young woman named Marisol (Martha Higareda), who has dreams of moving from Mexico to the United States, but finds herself immersed in a hyper-realistic nightmare when her wish is fulfilled, and her experiences in the Us of A aren't exactly all they're cracked up to be. Culture Shock also stars Barbara Crampton, Shawn Ashmore, Creed Bratton, and Richard Cabral, and features a script written by James Benson, Efrén Hernández, and Guerrero.

The just-opened Columbia Pictures film Spider-Man: Far From Home imports a newcomer to the ever-expanding superhero sector: Jake Gyllenhaal, the 38-year-old Oscar nominee who has a wildly eclectic body of work but somehow managed to avoid the now-pervasive superhero genre until Far From Home became his 38th feature film.
Gyllenhaal portrays the cryptic character called Mysterio, who presents himself to Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man) as the worldly survivor and heroic refuge who has arrived from a different dimension. Gyllenhaal, with a chuckle, says had no problem connecting with the fish-out-of-water aspects of his character’s alienated backstory.
“I was thrown for a loop when I first got to the set and we started filming,” Gyllenhaal said. “The way Marvel makes movies is something I wasn’t fully prepared to handle. At the beginning I was really wondering what I had got myself into.”

Gigi Saul Gurrero's Culture Shock, a chapter in Hulu's ongoing Into The Dark series launches on July 4th.
