What really makes this episode work is the subplot involving Gloria Oritz, a senior who is devoted to her husband, a prestigious doctor suffering from Alzheimer's.
Gloria is played by Emmy Award winner Vicki Lawrence who is just wonderful here, giving the most heartfelt and dramatic performance of her 50+ years career. The plot also highlights how doctors misdiagnose patients by simply just prescribing a bunch of meds to alleviate symptoms. The ending to Gloria's story is quite surprising and may leave you stunned. The rest of the episode is sort of blah. It's Vicki who really steals the show.
