The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Norway
At the Abigail premiere, Dan Stevens listed Norway among his four favorite vampire movies. “I just saw a great movie recently that I’d never heard of,” he told Letterboxd. “A Greek film called Norway, about a vampire who basically exists in the underground disco scene in ’80s Athens, and he can’t stop dancing ’cause he’s worried his heart will stop. And it’s lovely. It’s great.”
You won’t find a better endorsement than that, but allow me to elaborate. Imagine Only Lovers Left Alive meets What We Do in the Shadows by way of Yorgos Lanthimos. The...

Lakeith Stanfield has joined Mark Wahlberg on the cast of Shane Black’s crime thriller ‘Play Dirty.’
The adaptation Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels sees Wahlberg as the hardened professional thief who is, naturally, double-crossed and left for dead. His hunt for revenge, however, brings with it a shot at the biggest heist of his career. But, even with the help of his partner, an actor-slash-con artist named Grofield (Stanfield), he’ll still need to outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive.
The feature will be directed by Black, who also co-wrote the script with Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. Jules Daly and Marc Toberoff are the producers while Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey from Team Downey, along with Black, Mondry, Bagarozzi, and James Skotchdopole are the executive producers. Additionally, Ezra Emanuel is serving as the co-producer.

For the past few years, Joel Silver has kept a relatively low profile, his most recent credit on the little-seen “SuperFly” remake of 2018. Still, the hard-charging producer behind some of the biggest hits of the ’80s and ’90s was attempting to mount a comeback. And his prospects looked promising with a series of feature film and TV projects at Amazon that were based on Donald E. Westlake’s Parker noir crime novels.
Alas, the Silver comeback has hit a snag. Sources say Amazon has fired the polarizing Hollywood figure from at least two films — one starring Mark Wahlberg, the other Jake Gyllenhaal — for being verbally abusive to two female executives. But sources close to Silver say Amazon is retaliating against the producer after he pushed back on the studio’s calls to use artificial intelligence to finish a movie during the strike. On August 21, just before 8:03 a.m. Edt, Parker Solar Probe zoomed past Venus moving approximately more than 24 km per second.
The spacecraft passed 4,003 km above the Venusian surface as it curved around the planet toward the inner solar system.
“Parker Solar Probe remains on track to make its closest flybys yet of the Sun,” said Nick Pinkine, Parker Solar Probe mission operations manager from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (Apl) in Maryland.

Actor Jason Statham has starred in many hit action movies like The Expendables and The Meg. There came a point where Statham was the face of his own series of thrilling films. But salary issues forced him to leave his franchise behind.

Statham once had his own action franchise in The Transporter films. The actor played anti-hero Frank Martin in the thrillers, who would offer to transfer goods for potential customers. According to The Numbers, the films made $315,536,842. The first film was directed by Luc Besson, who cast Statham in the role after a brief conversation. The Hobbs and Shaw star was honored to be a part of the film just based off of Besson’s involvement.

Statham didn’t have much of an opinion on his Parker co-star Lopez prior to working with her on the thriller. This was an attitude that Statham had about most actors that he worked with.

And Just Like That, Samantha Jones is back.
Kim Cattrall will reprise her Sex and the City role in a brief appearance in And Just Like That’s second season. The Satc sequel, which Cattrall famously opted out of, is due to premiere June 22 on Max.
Cattrall will appear as Samantha in the season two finale, having filmed the top-secret cameo in March with limited crew and no interaction with her former co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon or Kristin Davis.
And Just Like That has explained Samantha’s absence by saying that she had moved to London following a fallout with Carrie (Parker), although the two eventually reconnect via text messages. In the first season finale, they made plans to meet up and talk through their estrangement.
Cattrall and Parker had a falling out after the former decided she didn’t want to be part of a third Sex and the City movie.

In a movie career that stretches back 25 years, Jennifer Lopez has on occasion done flaked-out underworld thriller romance (“Out of Sight”), capery action (“Parker”) and revenge (“Enough”). Yet she has never placed herself at the center of such a down-and-dirty, grimly overwrought, execute-now-and-ask-questions-later B-movie as “The Mother.” I’m tempted to call the film “minimalist,” because if you consider its bare-bones screenplay (by three writers!), its convoluted utilitarian set-up, its 2D villains, and its essential formulaic momentum, it’s a prime example of action filmmaking made basic.
Yet “The Mother” is a Netflix action movie, which means that it has a certain flavor of ambition mixed into its pulp stew. The movie, which should have been 90 minutes long (it’s 116), is lumpy and inflated, it’s sketchy yet a touch grandiose, and it’s full of tersely dramatized scenes that somehow feel overly broad. Lopez, as a military sniper turned...

An adaptation of his own short film Laura Hasn’t Slept, Parker Finn’s Smile was a huge horror hit last year, and we’ve learned today that Paramount is planning to make Smile 2.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word this afternoon that Parker Finn has signed a multi-year, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures; “a Smile sequel is one of the priorities.”
THR notes, “Lips are sealed as far as deal details go, but Parker is expected to write, produce and direct features in the horror genre.”
“Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home,” said Paramount CEO Brian Robbins.

New York was its own character in Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbs, Charlotte York, and Samantha Jones lived and breathed the city, as millions of New Yorkers do. Carrie often spoke of her love for Manhattan and that NYC was the “greatest city in the world.” It’s hard to imagine Sex and the City taking place anywhere else. And the show’s biggest celebrity is also a diehard New Yorker, having starred on Broadway in the ’70s and made her home there for decades. So it’s no surprise Sarah Jessica Parker’s favorite movie takes place in the Big Apple.

Not only does Carrie Bradshaw live in NYC, but her portrayer does too. Sarah Jessica Parker moved to the city when she debuted on Broadway at 11 years old. She has been there ever since.

This article contains spoilers for Poker Face episode 4.
With a charged reference to the 1976 death of The Yardbirds singer Keith Relf, Peacock’s Poker Face teaches a valuable music industry lesson: Song pluggers should check their cables before plugging in. Especially drummers, surrounded by metallic conductors, trying to break out original material. When they do, as Phil Collins of Genesis or Don Brewer of Grand Funk Railroad can attest, those songs can change the group dynamic and take center stage. Electricity like that should be channeled.
Which is why the human lie-detector goes metal detector in Charlie Cale’s (Natasha Lyonne) case-of-the-week, “Rest in Metal.” The signature hit song for Robin Ruin’s (Chloe Sevigny) metal band Doxxxology, “Staplehead,” was written by the drummer. Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday and Thursday’s episodes of “The Masked Singer”
“The Masked Singer” two-night event started Wednesday with a fright night-themed episode, featuring Snowstorm, who beat Avocado (Adam Carollo) and Bride (Chris Jericho), completing against two new singers to earn a spot in the semifinals.
That brings us to Thursday, where the contestants will give thanks in the “Battle of the Semi Finals” Thanksgiving-themed episode and the new round winner will compete against Round 1 winner Harp and Round 2 winner Lambs.
But before any unmasking happens, let’s discuss some theories. Thanks to an exclusive clip from TheWrap ahead of the episode, Ken Jeong, who previously guessed that the Lambs were the Kardashian sisters, makes yet another bold claim, guessing that the Lambs are a British girl group sensation.

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer”).
It was fright night on Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer,” but the only thing to be truly afraid of was elimination. And unfortunately, that was the case for Sir Bugaboo. But he wasn’t afraid of being guessed right away (and he certainly wasn’t afraid of no ghosts).
Heading into the episode, fans didn’t get much in the way of clues on Sir Bugaboo’s identity. All they knew was that his costume was very reminiscent of the Cheshire Cat from “Alice in Wonderland,” and his mask-ray revealed a bow tie. As a result, some fans speculated it might be Bill Nye the Science Guy, known for his bow ties in each video. Other suggested it could be “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who has released bow tie collections in the past.
In the end though,...

Richard Stark's Parker books are pure pulp pleasure. They're nasty, unsentimental crime novels written with a brutal economy. The prose is stiletto sharp, the stories shaved to the narrative bone. Once you read "The Hunter," which introduces us to the underworld shenanigans of a skilled robber named Parker, you have to read them all – and you can do so in a remarkably short span of time. These books are short and addictive.
Stark's work is so thrillingly vicious that you're occasionally concerned for the author's mental well-being. The author might actually be worried, too, as Stark is the pen name for legendary noir novelist Donald E. Westlake. By all accounts, Westlake, who passed away in 2008, was a lovely man, which makes Parker's adventures the most entertaining therapy sessions ever put to paper. Better to type out one's worst, repressed impulses than act on them.
Unsurprisingly, Quentin Tarantino is a massive Stark fan.

The box office is suffering the worst September it has seen in decades. This weekend, Universal’s gay rom-com “Bros” and Paramount’s horror movie “Smile” will continue the slow process of pulling the film industry out of this deep slump — even if neither film is expected to open higher than Warner Bros.’ “Don’t Worry Darling” and Sony’s “The Woman King.”
Like those two current releases, “Bros” and “Smile” are relatively low-budget films that their studios are hoping will turn a decent profit from turnout among a niche audience, with any moviegoers from outside demographics credited to strong word-of-mouth. Both films also have lower production budgets and break-even points than “Darling” and “The Woman King.”
“Smile,” the feature film debut of Parker Finn and has a 17 million production budget, is projected for an opening in the mid-to-high teens from 3,400 locations. “Smile” has gotten some viral buzz from its recent...

The film penned by Bateman consists of 14 vignettes, both comedic and dramatic, which look at women’s faces getting older, and why that makes people angry. While much of society appears to assume that women’s faces are somehow broken and need to be fixed, Face reveals some of the many ways in which women, and those around them, allow this idea to take root at all.
Parker will play Tanya, an actress balancing her need to use her face for her job and the pressure to not move it at all, with Moss as Mrs. Foster, a kindergarten teacher whose young students remind her of the magical functionality of the face.

Rio Hackford, prominent club owner, actor and son of Oscar-winning filmmaker Taylor Hackford, has died. He was 51.
Friend of Hackford and screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis confirmed his death in an Instagram post on Friday, and Hackford’s stepmother Helen Mirren also posted an image tribute on Saturday.
“Rio was more attuned to experience than anyone I’ve ever known. He would stop what was happening to point it out, compel you to pay attention,” Divincentis wrote. “He would order you a must-have experience from a beloved menu and hold your eye as you paid attention to what was happening in your mouth.”
“Not simply obsessed with movies and how they mirrored and compelled, he was something more: a superfan of enumerable scenes, of particular gestures of unsung actors, weird career turns, roaring comebacks, cinema swan songs — all real experiences for you, when beheld consciously,” Divincentis continued.
His brother Alex Hackford told Variety that Hackford died Thursday,...

Robert Downey Jr. and writer-director Shane Black are reuniting once again. The pair are teaming at Amazon Studios to develop a series of movie and television projects adapted from Donald E. Westlake’s “Parker” crime fiction series, Variety has confirmed.
The first project emerging from the deal will be a feature film titled “Play Dirty,” in which Downey Jr. stars as Parker, a professional thief with a brutal, mercenary work ethic. Black will direct and pen the adaptation alongside Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. Joel Silver is attached to produce alongside Susan Downey for Team Downey and Marc Toberoff. Ezra Emanuel will co-produce.

Robert Downey Jr. will be working once again with “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” and “Iron Man 3” filmmaker Shane Black, although this time to play a character who is markedly less charming than Tony Stark.
Downey and Black are teaming up on a new film for Amazon Studios based on the character Parker, created by author Donald E. Westlake (writing under the pseudonym Richard Stark). Black is co-writing the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi (“The Nice Guys”) and Chuck Mondry (“The Cold Warrior”), TheWrap has learned from a source close to the project.
The character of Parker first appeared in the 1962 novel “The Hunter,” where he’s introduced as a professional thief who’s left for dead by a past associate and spends the rest of the novel trying to track down his former accomplice. The book was adapted to film twice before, in 1967’s “Point Blank” starring Lee Marvin and...

Gerard Butler filed a lawsuit on Friday against production company Nu Image/Millennium Films, charging that he is owed at least $10 million in backend compensation for the 2013 film “Olympus Has Fallen.”
Butler’s suit comes on the heels of another high profile legal battle between a star and a producer over compensation. On Thursday, Scarlett Johannson filed suit against Disney, citing the simultaneous release of “Black Widow’ on Disney+ and in theaters. The breach of contract lawsuit charged that Disney “intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel.”
Butler’s representatives, as well as Nu Image/Millennium Films, did not immediately respond to a request from TheWrap for comment.

Even with new titles on VOD and streaming charts, the Oscar nominations may shake things up. Netflix received 35 total nominations among 14 titles, providing an unprecedented chance to see how many titles return to charts. The two top performers to date have been “Hillbilly Elegy” and “The Midnight Sky.” Nomination leader (with 10) “Mank” barely caused a wrinkle on the charts, placing tenth for a single day when it was released.
Currently, the dominant VOD titles are Sony’s standard-price ”Monster Hunter” and PVOD “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.” However, the other #1 is Nicholas Jarecki’s “Crisis” (Quiver) in its second week. The tripych of opiate-crisis stories starring Gary Oldman and Armie Hammer showed initial response last week and is now tops at Apple TV (which often foretells success later at other sites). For some reason (possibly a listed price of $9.99?), it doesn’t show up on the top 500 titles at Google Play.

There’s no denying that Jason Statham has found a very comfortable niche for himself in Hollywood, and the mere presence of his name in any movie is often enough to let audiences know exactly what they’re going to get. That’s hardly a bad thing, though, because he’s been established as one of cinema’s premiere action heroes for close to 20 years now, even if there is a sense of over-familiarity running through his work.
If you can’t remember the monikers of his specific projects, then it becomes increasingly difficult to pick them out of a lineup. Ask someone to guess the Jason Statham action thriller you’re thinking of with either a one-word title, or two words but one of them has to be ‘the’, where he plays a no-nonsense badass with either a military or law enforcement background who gets pulled back into the...

Despite having made his big screen debut in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels back in 1998, Jason Statham‘s star has never shone brighter than it has over the last couple of years. One aspect of Morbius that’s dominated discussion since the first trailer is how the movie would deal with Spider-Man. One of the more interesting wrinkles of the new Spidey agreement is that Sony’s universe and the McU will become more intertwined. This may see Venom retroactively become an McU movie, and will probably eventually see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man throwing down with the symbiotes.
Morbius seems set to be a trailblazer for the new era, having already showed off a small visual cameo from Spidey, Michael Keaton returning as Vulture and J.K. Simmons playing J. Jonah Jameson. But the Spider-Man cameo had fans scratching their heads in confusion.
You see, in the trailer we saw Morbius emerging from an alleyway that has a Spider-Man poster on the wall with ‘Murderer’ scrawled across it. Given that Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with the hero’s identity being revealed and...

We've already seen enough to know Spider-Man for PS4 is going to be good, but this last trailer really has us getting our hopes up. Check out the trailer below, and continue on for some analysis:
First off, wow do those action sequences look good. The action isn't the only thing to be excited about, however, as it looks like for the first time ever a Spider-Man game will let you travel around as Peter Parker? That's not a 100% thing, but it did look like there were some sequences featuring the player controlling Parker, and maybe even Mj.
We also saw alternate Spider-Man Miles Morales get introduced, so we're hoping for some action with him involved! As for other familiar faces we see Aunt May, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) heading to prison, Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) running for mayor, and a new villain, Mr. Negative, looking to destroy New York.

Paris Games Week is the gift that keeps on giving with another trailer for Insomniac Games upcoming Spider-Man game. Between you and I and the internet I think it may be the best.
Insomniac Games is making me a happy gamer. I have enjoyed Spider-Man video games throughout the years and I think it’s been too long since I had one. We’re getting more detail about the game as well finding out that this is a Peter in his early twenties and he’s been Spider-Man for about 8 years now. After having imprisoned the Kingpin Wilson Fisk we find Peter having to deal with the power vacuum caused as a gang called the Inner Demons attempts to fill that void. Led by Mister Negative Peter now has to balance his life as Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Look at this trailer.
So let’s get this out of the way right now,...

As The Gifted lands in the UK, we go looking for other families with superpowers to be reckoned with...
As The Gifted brings the super-powered Strucker siblings to the screen alongside their (currently) unpowered parents, we got thinking: what other super-powered families are out there? Here’s what we came up with…
Power Pack
Created in the early 80s by Louise Simonson and June Brigman, the Power Pack were four super-powered siblings (with the surname Power, natch) who used to sneak out to operate as a team while keeping their identities secret from their parents. It was sort of like the Famous Five, but in the Marvel Universe. Throughout their run the swapped powers and codenames, but the siblings were Alex, Julie, Jack and Katie, and the powers were energy manipulation, mass manipulation, gravity manipulation and light manipulation.

As Marvel fans will know, Deadpool was originally created by Rob Liefeld back in the 1990s as a parody of DC’s Deathstroke. Hence the almost identical names – Slade Wilson/Wade Wilson. As the Merc with the Mouth’s popularity grew over the years, though, the character left behind his darker traits and pretty much became a hero, even serving alongside the Avengers. That’s all about to change, though, in his latest solo series.
First, let’s recap the tumultuous journey Wade went through in the recent Secret Empire event. As a double agent for the good guys, Deadpool worked alongside HydraCap to uphold the corrupted hero’s fascist regime while still feeding info to the underground resistance. The turning point came when he killed Phil Coulson under Steve Rogers’ orders. In an attempt to prove he was still on their side, Wade gave S.H.I.E.L.

Debuting along with the release of Logan back in March, the first promo for Deadpool 2 was a hilarious skit that saw the Merc with the Mouth totally fail to play the hero and save an old man from being shot down by a mugger. But was there more to the scene than we first thought?
A popular fan theory states that this old guy was actually Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben, as the incident kind of mirrors the death of Spidey’s ill-fated uncle in most versions of the story. Obviously, this wouldn’t be a tie-in to Spider-Man: Homecoming, due to the fact that the cinematic universes of Marvel Studios and Fox have nothing to do with each other, but many thought it was a blackly humorous nod to another Marvel comics superhero. After all, Deadpool and Spider-Man often crossover on the page, so this theory does have legs.

As all Marvel fans know, everything within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is connected. The events of The Avengers totally take place in the same universe as, say, Daredevil. However, those on the big and small screens rarely reference each other – save a nod to “the green dude” or something in Jessica Jones. The official Facebook page for The Defenders, though, might have given us our first explicit connection between Spider-Man and New York’s street-wise heroes.
First, the social media account – that’s written from the point of view of the quartet of Netflix heroes – posted some links from the promotional tie-in website for the New York Bulletin, the newspaper featured in Daredevil. The page captioned it: “This city’s going to hell. #FakeNews.”

Sony’s unveiling of the first extended gameplay for Insomniac’s Spider-Man back in June saved what was an otherwise unremarkable showing for the PlayStation 4 at this year’s E3. Even taking into account that new footage for other exclusives like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and zombie survivor Days Gone squeezed cheers out of the audience, it was Marvel’s iconic web-slinger that stole the show.
The spandex-clad superhero swinging into view was a definite highlight of not just Sony’s show, but the entirety of E3, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting more details for Peter Parker’s next video game adventure ever since. Thankfully, Insomniac has seemingly heard our prayers, as a newly released featurette gives us just that.
Spider-Man art director Jacinda Chew and creative director Bryan Intihar are on-hand in the video to talk about their experiences with creating a believable world for Parker and his superpowered alter-ego,...
