One of the best episodes of the entire series
amstandard19 May 2023
This episode really stands out from the others. I will definitely remember this one.

A lot of character development and moving the story along in a very satisfying way (and at times unexpected) in this one. My husband and I laughed out loud a number of times, and I couldn't help thinking, "Brilliant" more than once. I thought the verbal and non-verbal delivery by all the actors was superb.

Here, Ted takes a backseat to the other characters, as he really has all season. I have no doubt that was deliberate. Still, I miss his unwavering optimism, unconventional wisdom and his unique ability to inspire others, including me, to be a better person.

This episode is not to be missed, and I found myself cheering at the end.

Redemption is coming
evanmaines19 May 2023
This season, as most fans know, has been kind of scattered. Characters have felt displaced, the focal point seems it has lost its way a bit. The quaint universe of the shows first two seasons has unexpectedly grown and without much to really love. These new characters have felt un-needed, and several side characters arcs have been seemingly randomized as to which ones we explore.

But what I know and love this show is that you can always count on the fact they won't leave anything on the table, and they will find ways to cleverly redeem everyone.

This episode got back to its hopeful roots. It touched again on its humanity, and did very beautifully.

If the ending of this show is now in sight, I imagine the creators are going to send it out with a bang.

Fingers crossed.

It's perfection. It really is.
gunnar-liljas17 May 2023
Sure, the series brings it on thick at times, but they've set up a canvas that can take it. It's naïve and silly, but the brilliance doesn't depend on the viewer being a feelgood junkie. If anything, being a "comedic timing" junkie helps. For every moment that I've had a "what didn't they just do this instead" thought, there's a stronger "because that would have been even worse" conclusion. Not humbling. Encouraging,

Ted himself was relegated to a cartoonish side character in this episode. I have no doubt that was a deliberate pause. The dripping canvas was elsewhere this time, and it has my full attention.

This I Know...
jgershma24 May 2023
Yes, I know there are two episodes left. Yes, I also know that this last season has been, at times, frustratingly inconsistent. But Rebecca's speech about the importance of football, underscored by Nate's playing of Arvo Pärt's "Spiegel im Spiegel" (actually performed by Nick Mohammed!) will be the single best scene in the entire series. I'm calling it here. I know Ted Lasso's fanbase is often divided when it comes to ratings about if this is a show about football or a show about relationships. But in this remarkable 4 minutes, it shows that it's about both. As beautiful and moving as anything I've watched in a long time.

Soft Spoilers - One of the best episodes of the season
eclyptix17 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This one has an 8.9 so far and its great, but it feels like it should be even higher - there is a great speech by Rebecca about halfway into the episode and from there onward, the episode really shines bright.

All the great feelings this show creates kinda just continue on for the remainder of the episode. Truly one of my favorites of the season, among the top favs of the series itself.

Also, I feel like there was an omission of specific details on Nate and Rupert's developments, and its deliberate, I sense a backstory is forthcoming in future episodes that will detail what unfolded off screen with them, answering the why's and what not...like why Rupert's assistant has changed, for instance...among other things I don't want to fully spoil for those who haven't seen it yet.

Soul of the show is back in this episode
rikin-soni1139317 May 2023
Oh my! Have been waiting for an episode that made people fall in love with the show. What a beautiful episode. Brisk pace, depth in writing. Things are coming full circle and I can't believe there are only 2 episodes left.

It was less of Ted and Beard but the other characters shone very brightly. That conversation between Nathan and his dad is so powerful. Rebecca and Keeley's conversation was brief but was pure emotion as well. Jaime wearing that shirt for Sam! Akufu's annoying persona. Everything makes this episode extraordinary.

And don't forget that side of Dani Rojas. I laughed so hard when he put his National rivalry on with Van Damme.

Can't wait for the next episode.

They really pulled it off.
Gernot S.17 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting it, because, well, it's Ted Lasso. But the quality of the execution wasn't expected at all.

They gave Nathan's Dad a redemption moment, and even RUPERT. I liked it.

(so, there's only Akufo left, as a "villain", I guess)

Then, Rebecca had a growth spurt (or, maybe better said: they finally showed her growth), and "Royley" got their "Love, Actually" scene.

Nathan, of course, is the biggest con job they managed, by far. After hating him at the end of season 2, and rightfully so, we're rooting for him again. Well, maybe not rightfully. Ted knew it better, all the way.

My only grievance: The show is called "Ted Lasso". But there was even LESS Ted in this one, than in the already mostly tedless, previous episodes of season 3.

At least, he literally got the last laugh.

More than one stand out performance of the season in this episode
kayleighbasford17 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You have to give it to the writers this episode is so cathartic, heart wrenching & joyous all at the same time and met the needs some of which I didn't know I had as the viewer! It's worth noting I watched the episode through tears.

There were several stand out performances for me from Rebecca's speech, to Nate and Nate's Dads incredibly moving scène to Roy & Jamie's BFF story arc! It's hard to say who did the best performance and who needs to, they all bring up the show to up! I'm equal parts excited to see the last two episodes written by the dream team as I am sad to see it end ! Thanks Lasso writers you've done it again!

Keeps Getting Better
francisco-personal118 May 2023
I'm at the point of having to say publicly that I absolutely love this show. The writing, the acting, the stories, are all amazing. Each show is a gem on its own, and fits beautifully in the collection. All of the characters are believable and yet somehow whimsical at the same time. I suppose this is to be expected from any Bill Lawrence vehicle, but it never ceases to surprise me. From "Scrubs" on, I've appreciated his flavor of television. I can be laughing one moment and crying the next. It's a kind of magic act, and I'm happy not to know how the tricks are carried off. I'm 59 and have seen a lot of classic television. This show is top tier in my book, and this episode was simply amazing.

Writers hearts were in right places but...
abandonedBerlin19 May 2023
Overall not a bad episode, the writers hearts were in the right place. Nate's emotional and character rediscovery arc was particularly compelling as was Roy's. However, Keeley's storyline is filled with so many massive real life holes it's almost impossible to suspend belief, it becomes simply insulting. What's worse, Juno Temple is so disingenuous and embarrassingly bad as Keeley so it makes Keeley's storyline one massive, infantile and intelligence insulting mess.

For those of you that don't follow English football, Rebecca's speech may have missed its mark, but it was dead on. Beautifully written monologue and kudos to the writers. This super league story mirrored a real life proposed super league that blew up into a terrible public relations nightmare for the select clubs that were involved. It was all centered around MONEY with very little care given to the working men and women that have supported their clubs over multiple generations. In particular, Fenway Sports Group (owners of Liverpool) continued to show how greedy, cheap, tone deaf and out of touch they are with true supporters of the club.

Roy's character continues to shine through his emotional growth, and be the star of this season. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting from Brett Goldstein.

Zag instead of Zig
ossie8518 May 2023
This show skillfully delivers on the show's ability to zag when you expect it to zig. As the name suggests, this episode occurs during the international break in the football season, a period when many fans and players alike lament the absence of their beloved sport.

In this episode, we see Nate's redemption arc in full swing as he surprisingly starts to make amends by quitting. The growth and development of Nate's character in this episode is truly remarkable, and it's exciting to see him come into his own.

On the other hand, Rebecca's character reminds us why we support football teams in the first place. Rebecca turns to her love of passion of fans as football as a source of solace and passion. Her connection to the sport reminds us that, at its core, football is about the love of the game and the camaraderie it fosters.

Breaking bad
xmasdaybaby196623 June 2023
The minutes went by quite quickly. If was engaging but what really happened?

An unfunny joke about a goalkeeper breaking his nose and his team mate being an opposing player for a short time.

Jamie makes his debut against what I can only assume to be Vatican City and Rebecca stands up for the small fan at a meeting with the big boys.

In reality despite their recent European victory, West ham wouldn't be considered for a break away league and, being newly promoted and as an unfashionable team, neither would Richmond.

Again, it all seems to be about relationships and people helping each other out, a far cry from theed show I started bingewatching from thd start just two weeks ago.

Painful to watch
sauerkraut7719 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The only redeeming scene was the one that involved Roy and Jamie

Other than that? Yeah, The writers need to have a hard look at themselves

Nate did not deserve his character arc, too fast and forced, which ruined the rest of the episode, with him and his violin popping up again and again

Rojas vs Van Demm thing was so predictable to begin with

I know it's a comedy and I shouldn't think this deep, it's just all so badly structured, it hurts to watch.

The writers way are too invested in inserting political storylines than focusing on Ted Lasso and Football, Football has so much more to offer than whatever this is

Won't even comment on Keeley and her garbage story.

It feels like they've finally listened.
bblockr21 November 2023
So far this season had it's ups and downs, and major ones at that in my opinion.

BUT MAN! Even the show's most pointless storylines get resolved in this one episode.

Even the worst characters get a really good redemption arc, and it's done in a way that still doesn't feel on the nose, making it feel logical and even realistic, which is surprising given how most of the season's episodes can be compared to soap operas, they're so dramatic.

It really really feels like they've listened to the fans of the show, and that fills me with so much genuine joy. This episode is the very definition of "listening to the fans" in ways I've never seen before.

Satisfying Pre-ending to an otherwise still very hit and miss season.

The episode where everyone has the conversation they need right now.
sabrinaventrella20 May 2023
The lowest lows followed by the highest highs make one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant, and had me sobbing for multiple reasons on multiple occasions. Amazing acting all around. With moments I have taken the time to write down.

*the Dani/Van Damme storyline *chefs kiss The sheer love between all the characters, romantic but mostly otherwise, was exactly what I needed right now.

As someone who was worried at the beginning of the season, I have really experienced an emotional turnaround. Ted Lasso is producing some of the best series on television right now.

The Beautiful Game
BoulosSoueileh21 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A Beautiful, Emotional episode! A perfect episode with only good things in it. Rebbeca Speech was one the best, it reminded us why we love this game so much, why we cry for it and we smile about it. Football is not own by the people with money, it belongs to us, the fans around the world. A heartwarming ending for Roy, Jaimie and Kyllie. The character development of Jaimie is just insane, how did he became the care person after being the cocky one in first season. The wonder kid will be back home, when you hit the top of the mountain, what can stop you other than thunder.

My only bad Take about this episode is Ted, a 1 hour episode, and the main character got 5 minutes of airtime. I mean let's not get used about it.

Emotional Speeches, ups and downs, Heartbreaking moments, Friendship and Football. Can you ask for more ?

Finally episode about football
aaaa-8885318 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At the beginning of this season I was going to stop watching the show cuz it's no longer talk about football and they started to talk about things that didn't matter or that doesn't exist and they wanted to sell it on us but this episode what the show should actually represent it talk about super league and all football fans know how money ruined our game how clubs like PSG, Man city and Chelsea ect ruining the game player no longer equality cuz player doesn't want to play for middle class clubs it's all about money and I get their point ( Players have family ect) but what these clubs pay is too much , secondly Sam and Nethan that's what the show should talk about the dream of a player how want to represent national team cuz it's the dream of almost all footballers and Nethan my best character in the show I want too see what football mean to him what he go through after losing his job not see what Joens go through cuz it had no relation to the club and there are too many since that shouldn't be in the show finally thank you for this episode cuz it reminds me that football was and always be about the people our lovely game.

The sport that binds us together
crosnierlucas18 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At the beginning of the episode I thought this would be another case of lazy writing but they way they handled Nate and Keely's situations was amazing. The emotion in this episode was top tier with the humor we all love still being there. This episode made me really feel for Nate after hating him for a long time. The speech by Rebecca was delivered outstandingly by Hannah Waddingham and with me being a lifelong football/soccer fan it hit hard. It shows why things like the European Super League didn't work in the real world because us the fans live for this sport. It shows how important casual games are and how important fans are.

why are you trying to "humanize" nathan character?
weraqs19 May 2023
Well, well, well, look who decided to humanize the character who tear up the motto! Our dear pseudo-protagonist decided to abandon ship and join a team that's practically an enemy of the beloved Ted's team then leave there with a girlfdiend. And what do we get? They're still desperately attempting to "humanize" him. How utterly foolish! It's high time they rid themselves of this character once and for all. On a brighter note, aside from that debacle, the episode was quite marvelous. However, it would have been even better if we had some closure with Jack. Roy... what the heck are you doing mate?

Weird stuff going on, hope won't be the last season.

Dani as a psycho
Movie_core24 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't like Dani acting like a maniac. I know it's supposed to be funny but it wasn't for me, I was so sorry for poor Van Damme, especially how shocked he was all the time. Worst part is Danny didn't seem to realise how serious it was, not even after seeing he broke his team mate's nose: "he's hit a ball with his nose". It was a game for him which makes him look a little detached from reality.

On the other hand, I loved Roy's t-shirt storyline; how he struggled to wear it but did so for his niece. It was so symbolic that he would wear that colourful shirt when he talked to Keeley. And the best part about it was everybody's reaction to it; the funniest being Ted, Beard and Trent bewildered like it was a sign of an imminent apocalypse.

It was good to finally meet Roy's sister. The actress who plays Simi is so good, her face expressed exactly how disgusting the situation was and it was so obvious it was Akufo behind Sam's undoing. About Nate, the last thing he needed to feed his vanity was somebody calling him genius, which by the way can't be seen anywhere, even if it was his father.

Finally, those references to Roald Dahl and Agatha Christie were hilarious. Their works are masterpieces.

Roy Kent's sister
tadairtaylor23 May 2023
This episode confirmed what a lot of fans had speculated, that she was the ER doctor who treated Dr. Sharon after her bicycle crash. Phoebe's mom finally revealed, maybe she and Roy could be in a spin-off, Soccer Dad.

I don't know why so many people are complaining about this season, I think it's wrapping up things well. And am I the only person who thinks Ted and Michelle will get back together? The perfect ending for me would be Ted and Beard going back to the U. S. to coach Sporting KC, with Nate taking over as head coach and Roy becoming his assistant. Or Roy becomes head coach and Nate his assistant. And bring back Sassy Smurf for the season finale, please!

The Super League promoted by a rich sun-saharan African. Are you serious?
ingo-9158521 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First of all I like to say that I really love the show. Football combined with Diversity was definitely a new idea. The show managed to play with stereotypes in a funny a sofosticated manner on so many levels. But serving the stereotype of the mentally unstable, near corrupt African millionares son is really completely of and just servs prejudices and colonial thinking. But putting Akufu as the driver of the Super League and no mentioning at least a Bank called Silverman Wachs or something like that is really painful to see. Why not mentioning the oil and blood money that is behind the Super League in real life? Does the show receive funding from Arabia? And please, seriously showing the millionaire owners of the clubs as football loving little boys deciding without public pressure in the interests of the fans. Come on writers....you can really do better!!

Fell apart in the second half
AmbroseHoneysuckle19 May 2023
The first half of the episode was pretty tight. If they'd ended it there, it would have been a solid if unexceptional episode. The second half, though, embodied all the worst traits of the worst episodes of the season. I like Keeley as a character, but her subplot this season, with a workplace romance that's both wholly inappropriate and wholly lacking in chemistry, could not interest me less. Nate's subplot remains tainted by unearned grace. Rebecca whipsawing between insecure little girl and preachy speechmaker is two different deviations from her established character in one. And the name of the show is Ted Lasso. Why do we see so little of him doing anything at all?

One thing I've noticed about season 3 that differs from seasons 1 and 2 is the lack of an executive story editor. I think the show needs one, and I think the absence goes a long way to explaining this season's overall incoherence and runtime bloat. It might also have something to do with the newly credited staff writers, two of whom were leads on the indisputably worst episode of the season, but I don't want to lay too much at the feet of the soldiers when the captain is nowhere to be found.

This hits home......
annie_smith-454326 July 2023
I can honestly admit that I usually find it hard to get into series like this...... but after much persuasion from my work colleague I finally gave in and started watching Ted Lasso!!

Season One - was amazing...... it covered all emotions in life!!

Season Two - started off very plain at the beginning but finally knocked it out of the park!!

Season Three - this one became very relative very quickly!!! I love how they covered day to day issues, whether it be someones sexuality or their anxiety!!!...... no one deserves to be treated or judged differently just because they have different reactions to things xx They are all so different but amazing at the same time xx.

An Interesting Premise
Hitchcoc15 March 2024
We have a return of the rich Nigerian guy who is proposing a super league. He is cruel and vindictive. He has targeted Sam for vengeance. We have a handful of guys from Richmond going off to their respective countries to play internationally for a week or so. Nathan quits and goes through an angst ridden period in his family home. Keeley is again a less interesting part of the show. She is betrayed by her boss. Anyway, this is a bit scattered at times so it is missing coherence. The scene at the big meeting is over the top but it was good to see all those rich guys decided to follow Rebecca's advice concerning the future of the sport.
