Given the massive scale of audience we can reach through Fast, it made perfect sense to partner with C15 Studio, Fast and sports industry leaders, to launch Squash TV.”

Even Dr. Phil is getting in on TV’s frenzied battle for sports rights.
The daytime mainstay has long been known for doling out common-sense advice without any bull. Now that’s about to change.
Starting in July, a significant chunk of Professional Bull Riders events will be seen on Merit Street Media, the TV outlet launched earlier this year by Phil McGraw, who had previously hosted the syndicated “Dr. Phil” program between 2002 and 2023. As part of a new four-year deal, McGraw’s Merit Street will carry Pbr Teams events; the full schedule for Pbr Unleash The Beast, the sport’s individual competition series; and 50 episodes of “Pbr Now” a news, information, and analysis program.
“I think we’ll bring viewers to bull riding, and I think bull riding will bring viewers to us,” says McGraw in an interview.

Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire delivered an epic performance at the 2024 Stagecoach Festival. It was an iconic moment that fans are still talking about. Even Miranda Lambert had something to say about sharing the stage with the country legend. So, what did she say?
Miranda Lambert Has Been Keeping Herself Busy
It wasn’t all that long ago that Miranda Lambert officially wrapped her Velvet Rodeo residency in Las Vegas. No one would blame her for taking a break to enjoy her successful run. However, since the Velvet Rodeo wrapped, Lambert hasn’t slowed down one bit.
Lambert has scattered tour dates from now all the way up to September. In addition, she even teased her brand-new single, Wranglers, which has an official release date of May 3. There are a lot of new things to be excited about if you’re a Miranda Lambert fan, with plenty more on the way.

Country superstar Miranda Lambert always has something new and exciting up her sleeve. Recently, the singer warned her fans, and told them to saddle up for something entirely new. So, what can her millions of fans expect?
Miranda Lambert Closing Out Her Velvet Rodeo In Las Vegas
After a hugely successful run with her very own residency in Las Vegas, Miranda Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo has only a handful of shows left before she rides off into the sunset toward something new. Lambert’s Sin City residency has been a major hit with concert-goers.
One sign that you’ve truly made it in the industry is when you can have your own residency like Miranda Lambert has. To consistently sell out your residency venue is a big accomplishment in itself. So, Miranda Lambert definitely has something to hang her cowgirl hat on as she comes up on the remaining handful of shows.

The festivities have been underway for two weeks at the 2024 RodeoHouston Super Shootout, but the big events are about to get going as the final week of action kicks off on Tuesday, March 12. The action will be broadcast on three different outlets, Bally Sports Southwest, The Cowboy Channel, and in Spanish on Telemundo. The Streamable’s experts would recommend watching the RodeoHouston events on Sling TV, because it is the cheapest option available. If viewers are looking for more regional coverage of sports — including rodeo — if they live in the majority of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico, The Streamable would recommend Fubo. It is an expensive option, but it is the cheapest live TV streaming service to carry Ball Sports Southwest. You can watch with a subscription to Sling TV.

Garth Brooks was really looking ahead this time. He and his wife, the “She’s In Love With The Boy” singer, Trisha Yearwood, have covered as many bases as possible when it comes to Brooks’ new bar in Nashville, Tennessee. They have the booze. They have a dance floor. And, yes, they even have a fully-staffed police substation next door.
The New Nashville Police Substation
Right next door to Garth Brooks’ new bar, The Friends In Low Places Bar, is a brand new police substation. He and his wife paid to have the substation built there.
“I want it to be a place you feel safe in. I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another,” Brooks stated. “And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are.”

It’s finally here. Variety joined the producers and contestants — including host Phil Keoghan — on a private charter to Puerto Vallerta to kick off “The Amazing Race” back in October 2022. There, embedded with the producers, we got to see some of the show’s hallmarks up close: The race starting line, on the beach in front of the Westin hotel; challenges involving Lucha Libre wrestlers and rodeo lassos; teammates already screaming at one another; camera operators — the true heroes of this production — keeping tabs on one another; and Keoghan doing his well-rehearsed standups introducing the country the show is visiting.
In an exciting first episode, we even got to see a medical emergency on one of the first tasks! (I hope they’re Ok. I think they are.) A lot more of that to come soon. But why did it take so long for this season to air? Read all...

One of the prevailing observations of Travis Scott’s Utopia album has been how much it sounds like a Ye West project. Listeners have called out the bevy of features, momentous beat switches, and sparse, reverbed landscapes as noticeable effects of being around Ye as much as Travis has. Chance The Rapper once called himself “Kanye’s best prodigy,” but Travis may have claimed that crown by default on Utopia.
Over the last week, fans have revealed that the Travis-Ye parallels aren’t just about inspiration from Ye but tracks...

During the upcoming August 1 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara will meet a singer named Kylie Frey. The self-proclaimed “rodeo queen” got her start by singing the National Anthem at “every rodeo” she attended. Kylie admits she “grew up” watching Simon and doing impersonations of the British judge. However, when she does her impression live on the big stage, Simon isn’t a fan, calling it “terrible.” Watch the sneak peek video above for “AGT” Auditions 8.

Who needs summer blockbusters when there are so many gripping new and recent books related to the world of cinema? This column includes books highlighting creative heavyweights with new projects on the way, like Paul Thomas Anderson and Roman Polanski, and titans who have left us, like Abbas Kiarostami and Elizabeth Taylor. Other releases swim in the bloody waters of giallo, examine African American westerns, and offer reflections on horror cinema from queer and trans writers.
One thing is certain––unlike Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Fast X, and The Flash––everything here is worth your time and money.
The Cinema of Paul Thomas Anderson: American Apocrypha by Ethan Warren (Wallflower Press)
While there have been fine books exploring the work of Paul Thomas Anderson (such as Adam Nayman’s Paul Thomas Anderson: Masterworks) Ethan Warren’s American Apocrypha stands as an important accounting of PTA’s energy and influence.

Austin cheated, but not the way Missy suspected.
Missy suspected Austin cheated on her and tried to meet the mysterious woman to get answers on Ride Season 1 Episode 6. They weren't the answers she expected, and they could alter everything for the McMurrays.
Meanwhile, Isobel and Hank appealed to Daniel Booker, Gus's dad, to fund their new rodeo stadium.
Missy seemed shaken up after seeing Polly Kern at the Frontier BBQ on Ride Season 1 Episode 5. Since it only just occurred, hearing her repeat the story to everyone in the family felt repetitive.
Things got worse when Missy learned that Gus and Cash got into an old-school brawl. She thought Cash kept secrets from her, too, and wondered if she could trust any of the McMurray men.
Missy: Did you get into a fight with Gus?
Tuff: Really?
Valeria: Busted!
Cash: You’ve had a lot on your mind

Things got worse when Missy learned that Gus and Cash got into an old-school brawl. She thought Cash kept secrets from her, too, and wondered if she could trust any of the McMurray men.
Missy: Did you get into a fight with Gus?
Tuff: Really?
Valeria: Busted!
Cash: You’ve had a lot on your mind

Biker girl Julie Ledru in Rodeo: 'I had never made a film before and it was difficult to adjust to the camera being there, but little by little I got used to it, and also how to play to it.' Photo: UniFrance It took first-time director Lola Quivoron seven years finally to see the idea of her debut feature Rodeo hit the big screen. It was quite a baptism - almost a year ago she won the Coup de Coeur prize from Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival and since then she has never looked back.

The director of the intense new film about a scofflaw bike rider south of Paris, explains why they aim to film characters who escape all classification
‘She was riding in the middle of 50 bikers, pulling a super-aggressive gangster face.” Lola Quivoron is talking about the real-life inspiration for their urban motocross film Rodeo. “I think in order to front up enough to get through it. Because everyone was looking at her. Some people were laughing because she had a smaller motorbike than everyone else. Some people found her odd, others beautiful. But I was very impressed by the risks she was taking and by her strength.”
Quivoron had been hanging out with Dirty Riderz Crew, a group of bikers from the Val-de-Marne département south-east of Paris, for a while before this transgressive apparition rode past. The McMurray family has taken over Hallmark Channel. The network’s new series Ride follows the members of a ranching and rodeo dynasty and they fight to keep control of their land and move forward after a devastating loss. The show is set in rural Colorado, but it’s actually filmed in Canada.
‘Ride’ is filmed in Alberta, Canada

In Ride, the McMurray’s Colorado ranch is located in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. But the show isn’t actually filmed in the Centennial State. Like many Hallmark Channel shows and movies, production takes place in Canada.
Ride episodes are filmed in and around Calgary, Alberta. The stunning landscapes around the provincial capital made filming there “so fun,” co-showrunner Rebecca Boss told the Calgary Herald.
“The elements are part of the story,” she said.

Clint Eastwood has enjoyed a career which has spanned seven decades, but as the Hollywood legend is quickly approaching his 93rd birthday, the day of his final movie is closer than we may want.
According to Discussing Film, Clint Eastwood is preparing to direct what is being “internally billed” as the final movie of his long career. The project is a legal thriller currently titled Juror #2, which is said to follow “a juror on a murder trial who realizes that he may have caused the victim’s death and must grapple with the dilemma of whether to manipulate the jury to save himself, or reveal the truth and turn himself in.” Eastwood is also said to be eyeing a young Hollywood star for the leading role. As Eastwood hasn’t personally said anything about retiring, there’s always a chance that he might have another movie in him after this one.

Spoiler Alert! This story reveals plot point from the March 26 series premiere of Ride on Hallmark.
It takes place on a bucolic but cash-strapped ranch that’s operated by a widowed parent who loses a beloved family member in the premiere episode — all while everyone looks straight-up sexy in their Wranglers and cowboy boots.
But that’s where the similarities to Yellowstone end for Hallmark’s Ride, insists Sherri Cooper-Landsman, who showruns the new drama about a rodeo dynasty with Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi (Our Kind of People).
“For me, it was just this beautiful ranch setting with a family going through stuff that a family goes through,” Cooper-Landsman tells Deadline of Ride. “And to be honest, I hadn’t even watched Yellowstone, so I did not even think about that. It just was this beautiful setting and a worlds that Becky [Rebecca] really knew so well.

It’s as well-worn a trope as any in the coming-of-age genre: the elusive, underground subculture that draws in a young protagonist, whose discovery of this world helps them learn more about themselves in the process. Director Lola Quivoron’s latest feature Rodeo, an Un Certain Regard prize winner at last year’s Cannes, mercifully sidesteps such cliches in its exploration of a motocross community that exists just off the fringes of suburban Paris. Unfortunately, this is because it becomes overly formulaic in a different way, very quickly transforming into a familiar tale of a young person’s indoctrination into a criminal gang and lacking enough depth in cultural specificities of its surrounding world to ever truly stand out.
This is something of a surprise––Quivoron has spent extensive amounts of time in the cross-bitume community, which previously formed the backdrop for her 2016 short Au Loin, Baltimore, another tale of...

While at least half of the month’s film-related discussion will, unfortunately, be consumed by the endless Oscar race chatter, we’re here to cut through the noise and highlight gems worth seeking out in March. From a superhero film actually worth a watch to a fascinating archival documentary to highlights from not only this year’s Sundance but the 2022 edition as well, check out my picks to see.
15. Rodeo (Lola Quivoron; March 17)
One of the breakouts of last year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it premiered in the Un Certain Regard section and picked up a jury prize, was Lola Quivoron’s feature debut Rodeo. Starring Julie Ledru Kaïs, Yannis Lafki Ophélie, Antonia Buresi, Cody Schroeder, Louis Sotton, and Junior Correia, it follows a young woman who enters the underground world of dirt biking. Set for a NYC premiere at First Look, it’ll arrive later this month from Music Box Films.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Clint Eastwood's 65-year film career has been his willingness to play not just ornery cusses, but, in many cases, a downright bastard. From The Man with No Name in Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy" to nonagenarian drug smuggler Earl Stone in "The Mule," Eastwood has always sought out messes of manhood: lousy husbands, absent fathers, and straight-up killers. If retired rodeo star Mike Milo winds up being Eastwood's acting swan song, he might stand as one of the kindest characters in Eastwood's oeuvre.
What kind of self-respecting woman would take up these heels? That's what the female characters in Eastwoods' films are often wondering. The answer, of course, is that Clint's laconic nature masks a boyish playfulness that can be irresistible (especially when he's using an orangutan as his wingman). He's a tall drink of water who plays it gruff until he flashes that devilish grin,...

"When you get it... you're gonna fly...!" Music Box Films has launched an official US trailer for this badass French film titled Rodeo, from a French filmmaker named Lola Quivoron. I've been raving about this one since it first premiered last year the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, where I also saw it (here's my full review). Julia – a young misfit who is passionate about riding – meets a crew of dirt riders who fly along at full speed and perform stunts. She sets about infiltrating their male-dominated world, but an accident jeopardizes her ability to fit in. Newcomer Julie Ledru stars as Julia with a cast of unknowns and locals. This reminds me of the US movie Charm City Kings, similarly about dirt bike gangs in Baltimore, but it's actually something else entirely. I wrote in my Cannes review that it's the "rad, gritty, won't-take-any-shit cinema that I love to discover." I...

French filmmakers and sales agents will hit Toronto looking for a sale, great buzz and, above all, a lasting foothold into the U.S. market. Because a welcome perch across the pond can make all the difference, especially given the recent crunch on the international scene.
“Today, the market is extremely polarized,” says Alice Lesort, who heads sales for Les Films du Losange. “There are still films that perform extremely well abroad, but the number of films has shrunk; there are still films that take the spotlight, but the spotlight now focuses on fewer of them.”
Bringing the Léa Seydoux-led “One Fine Morning” to Toronto after previous berths in Cannes and Telluride and an upcoming slot in New York, director Mia Hansen-Løve has proven an outlier several times over. For one thing, at only 41-years-old, she’s already made eight features; for another, all but one of those features has seen U.

It's nearly fall, but the spooky season is already here. Stir-crazed masses battling a lingering pandemic, climate change, and upheaval are pulling out the seasonal decor earlier, eager to change the vibe and settle into the oddly comforting world of the strange and the morbid. Over the coming weeks, theaters across North America will oblige and showcase an "X" prequel, a star-studded Olivia Wilde-directed thriller, the exceedingly creepy-looking psych-thriller "Smile," and Zach Cregger's rental home hellscape "Barbarian." As folks will start to pull out their sweaters and add a little pumpkin to their coffee, and they'll be in need of some at-home entertainment to match the oncoming autumn mood. For horror fans, the fall equinox (and the entire month that precedes it) is prime time, when the programming powers-that-be start adding a little more genre spice to their offerings in anticipation of Halloween.

Kelman Duran’s music has always been as mesmerizing as it is thoughtful. His electronic abstractions tend to be amoebic and malleable, blending into dembow, reggaeton, and Caribbean riddims that are often atmospheric and moody, saddled with emotion. This year’s Cannes Film Festival may have been punctuated by big titles from returning stars that already have distribution homes — like Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or winner “Triangle of Sadness,” David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” (out this week!), or Claire Denis’ “The Stars at Noon” — and the wide variety of titles that picked up distribution while at the festival, but there are plenty of bright new gems that debuted on the Croisette that are still looking for smart buyers.

And in this movie, at least, they don’t rove. They’re rooted in a desolate suburb of Paris, where they gather to zoom along the road and pop up on one wheel, which the movie describes to us as a feeling of intense liberation. It sure looks that way.
But it’s only in fits and starts, mostly during the first 20 minutes, that “Rodeo” gets off on those stunts. Julia (Julie Ledru), the feral but untrained biker who joins the gravity-tweaking competitors, is the only female on hand, and she never does learn how to pop...
