The first episode to Marvel's grit-leanimg anime series sets the show off on a pretty entry level.
The episode sets the timeline in X-men lore; a year after what I can only assume is the Dark Phoenix Saga. We see the team battle the Dark Pheonix, followed by Scott Summers losing Jean Grey to the destructive powers that be.
This episode introduces all the X-men, and utilizes Charles Xavyer's kind hearted nature. A woman came to Charles about finding her missing child, to which he calls the X-Men together. This beautifully introduces all of the team members, their powers and general perdonalities.
The use of the Dark Phoenix really showed off what the animation team is capable of. The artwork and music is goregous, and I really hope that this is a sign of whats to come.
