Bunnies In A Basket And Calisthenics At The Shore
Andre De La Varre directs, runs the camera, produces, and narrates this travelogue about what to see and do if you find yourself wandering through Normandy. It's one of three he released in 1938, so I guess his plan of living life by touring around and making travelogues was going pretty good for him at this point. He would continue to do so regularly through 1957, and release his last travelogue movie in 1971.
As usual, he's pleased to show us architecture and crowds. There are Norman castles and nunneries, ancient weekly markets, and hordes of vacationers at the beaches and the racetrack, or sipping cocktails at the casino. It's a lovely time capsule of a world that would be washed away by the Second World War.
