Daniel Vallancourt is a very promising up and coming film maker. "Breath", however you want to read it, is one of the best ways to spend roughly 3 minutes of your life. Vallancourt has a great eye when it comes to what's in the frame. His technical prowess is akin to someone who's been making films for an entire lifetime. Don't just watch this film once, rather watch it as many times as you can, because you will find that each time you view it, it will view you right back.
Terrence Mallick's influence on Daniel Vallancourt is very noticeable, but this is far from a bad thing. No doubt we'll be seeing much more from Vallancourt as he hones his skills over time. Also worth mentioning is the phenomenal soundtrack. The music, played by none other than Daniel Vallancourt himself, does nothing but enhance the images seen before us. This, coupled with wonderful acting makes for some of the best cinema I have seen in a long time.
