Warner Bros’ Creed III will look to improve on the strong performances of the first two films in the boxing series, when opening in 637 UK-Ireland cinemas this weekend.
The film is the directorial debut of Michael Jordan who also stars in the film series as Adonis Creed, son of former heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. A contender for Outstanding Début By A British Writer, Director or Producer at the 2023 BAFTAs, Electric Malady is one of those documentaries which really is stranger than fiction, and no less powerful. It was made by Swedish-born Marie Lidén, whose mother struggled with an illness much like that of its subject, with a profound effect on her own life. Although you may or may not be convinced by claims made about that illness, it’s a fascinating watch which will leave feeling for those affected regardless.
At its heart is William, a young man who, swathed in sheets, resembles nothing so much as Casey Affleck’s character in A Ghost Story. Like a ghost, he is cut off from the life he once loved, hesitant to leave his specially constructed cabin in a remote patch of Swedish forest. “A proper troll forest,” he calls it, and there’s much here that feels.

As the BAFTA Film Awards got rolling on Sunday, all eyes were on “All Quiet on the Western Front” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” Martin McDonagh’s pitch black Irish comedy won several of the biggest acting awards to start the day, including Supporting Actress for Kerry Condon and Supporting Actor for Barry Keoghan. McDonagh also took home the award for Original Screenplay, solidifying his frontrunner status in that category at the Oscars.
“All Quiet on the Western Front” set a BAFTA record by picking up 14 nominations, and the ceremony was a reminder of how much BAFTA voters loved the film. Edward Berger’s war movie ultimately won seven awards including Best Film and Best Director.
On the acting side, awards favorites Cate Blanchett and Austin Butler won Leading Actress and Leading Actor for their performances in “TÁR” and “Elvis,” respectively. Critical darling Charlotte Wells also won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer,...

The BAFTA Awards were presented on February 19 by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). So who prevailed? Scroll down for the complete 2023 BAFTA Awards winners list in all categories.
BAFTA is an independent arts charity that comprises thousands of industry insiders, much like the American motion picture academy. The BAFTAs could well give us a preview of what the Oscars might do in three weeks time on March 12. And since voting for Oscars starts on March 2, just 11 days after the BAFTAs, these awards could be doubly influential.
However, the BAFTAs amended their nominations voting as of last year. After the initial longlists were decided, the nominees for acting and directing were chosen by small juries, leveling the playing field between the highest-profile awards contenders and worthy underdogs.
Until 2013, the entire BAFTA membership decided the nominees in a complicated two-part process that involved a lot of longlists with...

BAFTA has unveiled the longlists across all categories for its 2023 Film Awards, and Martin McDonagh’s tragicomedy The Banshees Of Inisherin and Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front lead.
Martin McDonagh’s impressive Banshees haul includes Best Director, Film, and Screenplay nods while Colin Farrell is up for Leading Actor and Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan, and Kerry Condon were handed Best Support Actor and Actress nods.
Charlotte Well’s festival favorite Aftersun appears on eight lists, including Best Film, Director, and Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Other titles that are well represented today include Oliver Hermanus’s Living and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.
In notable snubs, James Cameron’s Avatar sequel The Way of Water did not make either the Best Film or Director longlists. The box office hit is absent from all major categories but shows strongly in craft categories, including Sound and Special Visual Effects.
