And that's the problem, at least so far. The ecology of the planet seems based on a series of "Hey! Wouldn't if be cool if..." interjections in the writers room...possibly in a meeting held after the writers got stoned and watched "Spirited Away". Living gas masks and lighter-than-air balloons, "eggs" you crack and put on something like pumpkin guts to make wiring - yes, that last one failed but it's all too pat, too fantastic for _science_ fiction. How would they survive long enough to learn how to use those things without trying something that kills you? Azi's survival setup is a bit more believable but even she faces native creatures whose genetic development defies Darwinian explanation.
