Power play at its best
Adeeb-ghazal25 April 2023
The Swedish character is extremely well written and played, it doesn't matter if you are old money or new money... The power of money is the same if it's in the right hands, and it couldn't be better played than the character of the Gojo founder... The power play at the mountain was amazingly written and played, and the conclusion couldn't be better... Whom ever is writing this is doing great job ... We'll done.

I have to repeat to cover my 600 words minimum requirements

Testosterone fuelled Chess Match
m-minhaj-724 April 2023
The show has peaked, it has outdone itself, with another banger of an episode. The Norwegian setting looks breathtakingly phenomenal, the Vikings are on top of their game and looking for a kill. Can the American Giants hold their ground?

It's a testosterone-fuelled showdown, between Matsson and the Roy brothers. They have been outstripped of their armour, everyone is vulnerable (even Matsson), bleeding fast, and ready to fight till the end. This episode really shines in terms of the dialogue and the performances. The writing is tight and witty, the performances are authentic and raw. And the ending is satisfying and bittersweet.

This is the best episode in the season so far, and it is going to get more thrilling from here onwards.

A great episode

Warning: Spoilers
I think 🤔 of this episode is one of the best episodes in "Succession, "I'm just sitting and enjoying the game it's like a soccer game with all the tactics and the hidden plans , I like how the brothers are not in the same page with Siobhan , and every one have there own goals and their own vision , what I like the most about this episode and the whole season is the rhythm of the story, it's finally getting faster.

At the last a bunch of narcissists, they discussed whether France 🇫🇷 could make it or not. That discussion was killing me. It's reminded me when Con all of a sudden decided to be the next president.

Better and better and better!
joshbernardy1324 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Gahhhh the animosity in this episode is in full bloom.. and it's ravishing!

Firstly, I love this show so insanely much, I find it extremely difficult to put into words just how good it is. It is hands down, the best show on television right now!

Secondly, as much as I loved seasons 1-3, season 4 is blowing the doors off and knocking it (not only out of the park), but out of the proceeding neighborhoods beyond the stadium!!! Like it's basically "PERFECT" so far! Stellar performances all around.

*Kendall Roy is continuing his conquest and the rest are just around for the ride. Or are they?

*Kieran is still at a 'tug of war' between doing what his dad would want and being his own man.*

*Shiv is as condescending as always. But after being pushed aside by her brother's, I think it's warranted.*

*Tom and Greg are aimlessly trying to find some semblance of a role in the new regime, all the while creating their patented comedic relief.*

If this show ended today, I think I'd still be satisfied.. it's just... glorious.

Edit** After prematurely writing this review before finishing the episode (that's how excited I was), it is glowingly apparent that Rome has finally made up his mind.. he's hell bent on taking over the company and dumping all ties to Lukas. That conversation with Lukas on the mountain top was incredible and should solidify an Emmy for Kieran! Just masterful!

Halfway point in the final season crazy to think there's only 5 episodes left!
UniqueParticle24 April 2023
Starts off exciting with jamming music and Jeremy Strong; I love when that happened in an earlier season when Kendle was getting pumped it's always delightful! Very smooth as always and focuses on a Norway visit along with meeting Alexander Skarsgard he is great in anything great he's been in some of Succession. Since season 1 there's always been banter I know of a few that were touchy about it but it goes well with everything and I'm sure that's how rich business families would talk. I love that Craig mentions noise cancelling headphones I honestly have autism I use them in especially loud areas. Kill List is an awesome episode!

Back to business!
elias_themenace24 April 2023
The Roys are back to what they do best, manipulation and mind games are back on the menu, the personal trauma and seems to only give them more fuel!

Also another beautiful setting, this time in Norway, overshadowed by the powerful dialogue.

Part resilience, part powertrip, Ken is back in full swing and he knows how to play his cards, for his own purposes at least.

Roman finally shows some emotions, shows a side that's rarely seen and, perhaps at the right moment, tells Mattson what he really thinks.

Shiv shines as always, great dialogue and good chemistry, this time she gets to pull some strings and has the last smile!

Numbers and Grief
ossie8524 April 2023
Succession always has a way of leaving us wanting more, and "Kill List" is no exception. The writing in this episode is sharp, filled with witty one-liners and blistering insults, as the Roys continue to scheme and plot and work against themselves. The dialogue is crisp and each character feels fully realised and distinct, thanks to the superb writing.

What really sets this episode apart, though, is the powerful exploration of grief and how it can cloud one's judgment. His sons are struggling to come to terms with what they want or what their father wanted. But as the events of the episode unfold, it becomes clear that making big decisions during a moment of intense emotional turmoil can have devastating consequences.

The True Definition of Kingless Soldiers
Adam-0926524 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow what can i say, the whole Norway trip was so awkward you could smell the tension between both parties. Something tells me Lukas will be the main villain for the rest of this series, now Logan being gone the podium remains empty and thus the children have no real battle tactics. Lukas' line "You're just a tribute band" sounded so patronising to the Roy family legacy which now hangs by a thread over a lava pit.

So much weight on Kendall, Roman and Shiv's shoulders that trying to cut a deal with Lukas was more than negotiations. A test of Ego was the real power play, Logan had tons of it thus why he always won. Lukas hit Roman's nerve towards the end and sabotaged the whole deal but for a good cause? The Roy family stands on it's own two feet again, Lukas got told to his face. Now it's only nerving on what he might do, Lukas asked Shiv which he feels he has the most humble connection to, to blindly manipulate her into taking a picture of Ken and Roman's faces. Quite literally, Shiv has no idea what she's just done.

The Art of the Doodle
Hitchcoc26 April 2023
That title is meaningless. It just sounds funny. This is another outstanding episode with the siblings playing hardball to get the deal done. The problem is that their incredibly caustic personalities are more important than the money. Kendall is the head honcho for now (at least he thinks he is). But he needs pampering from the other two. This episode is about a touch of betrayal. It is a kick in the yes!? As the whole gang, sycophants included, head into the mountains for a meeting with the rich guy. He is playing them at every turn. They know that something can't be quite right when they withdraw the deal, but five minutes later, they begin a new effort at facilitation. They want to be the old man but are only a shadow of him. Can't wait for next week's offering.

Awkward in a fun way
mousaeman25 April 2023
The whole episode is an awkward scene after another in a fun light way, it's like someone learning a new language and reach meddle level , the language will sound very cool in his head like native speakers, but once he start talking, an awkward weak accent blurt form his mouth

it's an admiral effort but one couldn't help himself but to smile of the result, this was the tune of this episode starting from Kendall and Roman to Tom and Greige (in totally different level), even Matson himself there was a plenty of awkwardness around him but he knew himself and what he want and he said it that's he's not good in social interaction and usually he will may cross lines, every situation came from the same motive or goal, to make a point or (create profile) and the result just interesting and fun to watch

except for shiv, she spare herself embarrassment this time or maybe a tactic she work to start with, will see how that would turn out for her or her siblings

the show made it obvious from early seasons that all Logan's kids not equipped to be any of them as successor for the legacy, but through that there was a growth in all of them, in their POV about the whole operation but with Immature leading strategy, 2 CEO's still weak position to both of them, indicates poor judgment skills, there were not able to make a decision based on the company interest not personal interest, also good intention will not do them any good with the lack of good comminution.

5 episode left to unfold the rest of GRATE show.

Most unlikable characters
andrewkempf24 July 2023
Never in my life have I seen a show that has more unlikable characters than this show does in Shiv and Mattson. Shiv has only had a handful of moments in this whole series where she hasn't been one of the most backstabbing, annoying, rude, and arrogant characters I have ever seen in television. It makes sense that she seems attracted to Mattson, who is almost equally as unlikable. It has been brutal to watch Tom have to endure a marriage with someone who acts as self-centered as she does.

Roman has came a long ways, and his work together with Kendall this season is fantastic. Roman and Kendall have stuck out clearly as the two you are rooting for. Greg and Tom have been solid too. Everyone else however exhibits extremely unlikable characteristics.

However, this season has been very good so far in terms of acting, plot, and intensity. I cannot wait for these last few episodes.

Kill the deal
Criticalstaff24 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What is interesting here is that we finally see why would Kendall purposefully kill the deal; and the reason is less elegant that it could have been but it is also more in line with the ethos of the show.

It turns out these people do not care. About anything. They don't care about business, money, people, political influence or anything of that sort. This is all a game for them to see who's the "top dog". It would be reductive to say it is about power, but there is indeed a notion of being in charge that is the main motivator for at least Kendall and Lukas. The whole episode unveils that alpha-male dynamic. You either kill or be killed, winner or loser; being in charge of a company is merely a tool that you can use to boss everybody else around. For Kendall, it seems the calculation is: it's better to rule in hell than serve in heaven.

Kendall, is now the closest he has been to the position he was back in the very first episode of season one. He is in the position of being King of the Hill at Waystar. Even though he shares the position with his brother and has to take into account Shiv's view and the board's; there is a sense that he is the lead and he decides of what moves to play. Kendall's motivation is focused on how people see him but also how he sees himself. And the image he wants to see is basically his own version of his father in a sense. He want be a ruthless cunning but also smart SOB business magnate. He wants to be the one who says "F off" . In essence, someone you fear, but also someone you love to fear (in a disconnected lacking self-awareness way).

What is brilliant in this episode is that it depicts the European tech bros as a glorified frat house, but it is also depicts the Americans as a bunch of bozos. It's kind of a clash of titans of awful. But it makes sense that in these spheres, business is just a game of egos. It's hilarious, to see them clashing bluntly against each other because of course that's what would happen.

Equally interesting is how the other siblings are also emulating Logan but in very different aspects. Shiv is maybe the most cunning, coldest of them, using affection and personal relationships to manipulate others. That was what Logan did so well, blowing hot and cold with everybody and having people compete to get in his good graces.

Roman has for now the most realized arc. He started as the abrasive spoiled rich kid, now he is the guardian of his father's legacy. He is the one closest to an emotional breakthrough and it sort of makes you root for the guy.

It is a great episode because we see characters make choices we can understand and the overall plot moves forward.

SAUNA SAUNA
warriors_kings26 April 2023
Another fantastic episode from the creators and writers. First of all the scenery and the location this was all shot at was absolutely magnificent. Definitely a vacation spot I would like to visit someday. But also another episode with humor and Drama. I find it hilarious how Greg and Tom were once treated with respect being behind the infamous Logan, but since daddy has passed away they are trying to claw at whatever they can to stick in the futures company. The sauna sauna guy is probably the funniest character in the episode. Also, cant wait to see how the rest of the succession will play out. Shows so good I never use to write reviews but now for this show its a must!

Everyone is coming out to
ellisonshea24 April 2023
The Roman scene with Matson and Kendall at the end of the episode ALONE makes this episode a powerhouse.

BUT overall season 4... I feel each episode makes a certain actor/ character stand out more to me- I never know who is going to win an Emmy at the end of this because each person delivers and it changes every episode. Episode 3 had Gerri and Connor as powerhouses... episode 4 really made Marsha, Kerri and other more "minor" characters shine and this episode I was scared sh**less of what Shiv was capable of and blown away by Roman. This season is just so complex, almost a slow burn but also every detail is so important and things move quickly at the same time.

It is pretentious in a way that Logan would likely admire but this show is not made for non-serious people.

If a deal collapse in the woods and no one hears it, is it an SEC violation?
rich-fouts31 May 2023
The family heads to the incredible (and intimidating) fjords of Norway to negotiate a cash plus 50/50 stock deal. Mattson's strategy is to basically identify that what he's buying is garbage, that he's doing them a favor by making them rich ("already rich," says Roman) says ATN et. Al., is parts (good parts, mind you) bad brand., and that's it's nothing more than a tribute band. And (wait for it) selling news to angry old, people has no future (he's got them there, though he left out "white").

This train of insults continues until Roman loses it and tells Mattson to basically go to hell, the deal's off and he's a POS ( "If you tell the board I said that, I'll say it was a negotiating tactic, which maybe it is, but it isn't."). More great writing from the great Jesse Armstrong. And wow, can this cast act. They just get better and better.

Meantime Shiv, always the strategic shark, has a back channel going with Lukas (first names now) and as the team returns to the US with no deal, suddenly a revised deal comes through (a five dollar bump to the stock price), but it includes everything including ATN. The team is elated and Lukas phones Shiv ("send me a photo of your brother's faces" to which Shiv replies, 'yeah, I can do that.")

Things are meantime heating up with Lucas and Shiv on a more lustful level but it's all very secret. So, once again, Shiv has the upper hand even though she's been sidelined.

The kill list is fascinating: Ray, Mark, Hugo, Frank, Karl, (Tom NOT on the list). WTF?

This was one fantastic episode and things getting really, really interesting.

A little confused
ztjjksrrp24 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Again, it looks authentic which is a significant trait of this show. In the end it seems that the writers gave the kids a win. But Mattson's always come across as more confident, firm and smarter and knows what he is doing. So a logical explanation would be the kids are actually smart, they only worked as a team and put on a show to reach a goal they wanted. Wouldn't that be too smart for the characters intended? So where is this going? Messed up children get themselves together after their dad died Is this a story of that kind. Why is this need so may characters not have the right idea of the story and the right idea for it to happen.

One of the very best episodes of the series
85122229 December 2023
Greetings from Lithuania.

Kill List, a fifth episode of Succession for me felt like one of the very best in series overall, at least so far. With only five episodes left I don't believe it will change much.

This episode was amazing because of superb writing, some character development, but the most impressive was the location. Kudos to HBO for filming this at location. That creates the sense that you are there and absolving these billionaires. It just feels more then real. The location for me was the character itself.

Overall, I highly enjoyed Kill List, one of the very best episodes of Succession.
