The arena is still smoldering but plans need to be made for the future by everyone concerned.
First up is the gang back at the temple.
The victory at the arena is recounted to those who weren't there and an unconscious Oenomaus is tended to for his wounds.
Crixus and Naevia reunite but what should've been their triumphant love-making is cut short by her flashbacks to the assaults she suffered before and in the mines. First her situation seems to deteriorate as she despairs that she is but a shadow of her former self. Crixus seems paralyzed by her grief. But after a brief flirtation with suicide Naevia declares her wish to reclaim her power with Crixus' help, she wants him to help her fight, for herself and for the cause.
Gannicus continues to brood, unswayed to any cause, waiting for Oenomaus to wake, and is unmoved by Spartacus' entreates to join him in the fight for freedom on a hunting expedition. Oenomaus' wakes and Gannicus' breaks the bad news that he and Melitta indeed did the horizontal bop but that the fault lies with him not her and basically, he's all "my bad, yo." And Oenomaus points out that Gannicus can say whatever he wants about fighting and dying for honor but he has, always will only stand for himself.
Spartacus, Agron, Crixus, and Lucius discuss what their next move should be while examining a map.Spartacus is for ascending Vesuvius so they can see for miles and take on any oncoming Roman armies. Agron likes Plan B which is to attack the port at Neapolis. Either way, folks are going to need to be prepared so Spartacus gives one of his rousing speeches and tells the panicking people they are going to need to train, fashion weapons out of whatever material is available and dig escape routes.
Mira becomes especially adept at archery under Lucius' tutelage and this comes in handy. For you see, Chadara is throwing herself at every dude in her path trying to improve her station since Raskos was done in at the arena. When Gannicus decides it's time to make tracks after his chat with Oenomaus it coincides with the gang's map and remaining money going missing. Of course, they suspect Gannicus, which even he understands. While he and Spartacus are throwing down Mira notices a shifty Chadara looking like she's ready to bolt. She spears her right through the chest with an arrow and they discover it is she who stole the map. Spartacus apologizes to Gannicus, and Gannicus hits the road.
Meanwhile, back in Capua, with the death of Albinius and the fleeing of Varinius, things have gotten a lot more complicated for everyone but Glaber who is seizing the day with gusto.
After being told of the assets he's inherited Glaber decides to sell some livestock to raise a bounty on Spartacus' head. When he's told that's a no-no, the assets are simply to be overseen until Ilithyia gives birth to his heir, he dismisses them and says he's in charge now and some rules are going to be broken. Including one that apparently is about living in your own filth during mourning. He tells Ilithyia to take a bath and get her act together and toe the line and protect his heir or she'll pay with her life.
In the bath she encounters a bereft Lucretia, who has her own problems. She confronted Ashur about his ratting out Ilythia's abortion plans and instead of fearing her, he rapes her. Ashur-- after fighting off multiple soldiers in a demonstration of strength for Glaber-- has been granted some freedom. He doesn't have to answer to Lucetia anymore because he has been given a mission by Glaber: round up a posse of the worst of the worst and go kill Spartacus. (He is given this mission in part because soldiers are fleeing in a panic since the arena nightmare and Glaber needs hardened men to do the job.)
In the baths, Lucretia comforts Ilithyia, who is sad not only about her circumstances with Glaber but also the death of her dad. Lucretia says they can stick together and make something work.
When Glaber has a meeting with Seppius, asking to join their forces to take on Spartacus' men, Seppius is noncommital and says he'll give his answer tomorrow. Lucretia whispers to Ilithyia that she should reach out to Seppia, his sister, who is also grieving, and invite her over for a chat with the veiled intent of gettting her to convince Seppius to join with Glaber. Seppia, perhaps not so naive after all, devines the women's true intentions. Lucretia cops to it but says it really is in everyone's best interest to join together. Glaber appears, flirts shamelessly with Seppia and she agrees and says she'll try to convince her brother to get on board.
But Glaber decides not to give him time to make up his mind. After Ashur assembled his team of badasses-- including one known only as the Egyptian and was so bad he was kept in a hole in the ground-- Glaber lets them loose on Seppius-- and anybody near him including women and children. As Seppius, wounded and bleeding, tries to crawl away Glaber puts his boot on his throat and tells him not to worry about his sister, Seppia is at Glaber's house and Glaber will gladly be able to take care of her in anyway he desires now. Then, he crushes the life out of him.
