The show must go on
danielperezpj14 January 2012
Since 2007 when BBT was release, I told to my self this show gonna be awesome may I can say one of the best sitcom on TV ever... even more (FUTHER) that Friends or Married With Children. That was a really refresh for television. BBT is like pushing of laughter every 3 dialog, and this is something very clever made of. But (here's come the BUT) I think is losing something than I don't know what pretty sure it is, but there's it. The essence of the previous seasons is just missing... There It may be the formula use for Chuck Lorren around the 5 season lower the speed and them in the 7th (if the production set for a 7th season) you rush up all again and inject with a pump up dose of the same essence, which is very, very Smart. But nevertheless the show need to go back to basics (I'm not saying like many people are proffering; that cut up Amy and Bernadette characters NOt way... but need to focus back on the core geek what's next... geeks lost into the society because here's this the best of this TV show is about how there people(genius) who push mankind forward are just like the rest of the mortal and they pursuit that) when Penny and Leonard are in the dance be or not be (couple) Sheldom leading with real world and the idea world he pictured in his head, (but the characters evolution I think is plot very cool see how a person change only for the future sexual life is something great to expose) so knowing the screen writers crew are really GOOD they will figure out how make it again... Cos they know the show must go on!.

"The Shiny Trinket Maneuver" was another funny ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm13 November 2012
In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory", the focus is on Sheldon & Amy (or "Shamy" as Penny calls them) and Howard & Bernadette in which Sheldon doesn't get exited about Amy's latest accomplishment and Howard doesn't understand why Bern doesn't want kids. So Sheldon tries to make it up to Amy by buying-with Penny's help-some jewelry and Howard finds out about Bernadette's not wanting kids while helping him with magic tricks in front of unimpressed children at a party. I'll stop there and just say this was another funny ep of this mostly excellent series. I especially loved the end when Amy finds out what she gets! Oh, and Bernadette is also hilarious whenever she becomes angry since it always is such a contrast to her more sweet disposition. So on that note, "The Shiny Trinket Maneuver" was another good ep of "The Big Bang Theory".

The Shiny Trinket Manoeuvre

As it closes in on 100 episodes I don't think there can be any denying that 'The Big Bang Theory' has developed as a show in that time.

It's no longer just the 'beauty and the geeks' premise that was the mainstay of the comedy in the early years of the show, it has developed into something more.

Has it been plain sailing? No. Has it taken a long time for the show to settle into itself? Yes.

It's getting there though, and the addition of Bernadette and Amy has been a big part of that.

Some people will prefer the early days, and I point them in the direction of the Series 1-3 box set, but for me this episode was a good example of what the show has grown into.

Funny but the original bbt is pretty much gone
jeroenschoester15 January 2012
I have been a fan of bbt ever since the launch of the first episode. i followed every episode and saw that the smart jokes, delivered in the first 2 seasons became less.

This episode was funny without a doubt. but the jokes aren't 'smart' these couple of episodes. too many characters to be seen in 20 minutes which made Leonard and raj near to invisible this episode. Howard isn't gross and disgusting ( though funny ) anymore. Bernadette used to be funny. Now she is taking the role of Howard's mom, which is making her more annoying.

perhaps this is on purpose. making the social awkward geeks more social. but they shouldn't forget raj. he is still there but nothing has been done with him.

BBT: Doesn't feels anything spl now.
spacescreamer12 January 2012
The show is going down. It used to be an 'Intelligent fun' earlier, but now it seems like its more of a glorified FRIENDS.

I had read that they hired a science adviser for the show and the info and witty.. i mean really witty jokes based on scientific facts used to shine more than the people. Seems like they have fired that adviser (no offense if u still are working Mr Adviser, maybe writers just forgot the basic plot here. Ironic)

Anybody who has seen first 3 seasons, esp the first 2.. will understand the gist. introduction and more focus on gfs, homely issues etc are really making this show go down the road traveled by so many other shows. Characters other than the main cast should have been used to the point and in short bursts. Maybe a bit like how UK shows are, not laced with sugar syrup content the American sitcoms usually are. The Season 1 of BBT is a very good example.

I am aware this show has been renewed for 2 seasons, lets hope they don't keep sitting on their laurels and the show slowly starts to become bland and makes its patrons feel indifferent on Thursday nights.

How Mayim Bialik's religious convictions lead to one of the most iconic TV moments of the 2010s.
Ddey6526 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILER ALERT***

Actually, my original title of this was "How Mayim Bialik's religious convictions lead to an iconic TV moment reminiscent of Mary Tyler Moore on The Dick Van Dyke Show."

Most of us are familiar with the story. Sheldon and Amy go on their monthly date at the local Cheesecake Factory. Amy brags about being featured in a neurology magazine, while Sheldon brags about a much more trivial accomplishment. Amy storms off just as Penny is about to take their order, and she realizes that Sheldon committed a major social faux pas. And she has to convince the ex-Texan genius to fix this. Because in her mind, "Shamy" must live.

Penny convinces Sheldon to go to a jewelry store at a nearby mall, and the manager thinks the two of them are a couple. Later, the theoretical physicist makes a speech about how people waste money on what are essentially lumps of coal, but ends up buying it anyway, along with a little something for himself. Penny and Sheldon decide to lure Amy to Penny's apartment. When she finally arrives, she's upset with both of them although less so with Penny. Sheldon tries to apologize, but she refuses to accept it. Then, he shows her a bag of assorted jewlery. The nerdy neurobiologist feels insulted by the gesture and continues to rant about how shallow and self-centered he is... until he breaks out that tiara. And suddenly she ends up doing a Mary Tyler Moore imitation reminiscent both of her own sitcom and her time on "The Dick Van Dyke Show," thus creating one of the most iconic television moments of the 2010's!

The B-Story involves Howard performing at a magic show in a kid's birthday party, with Bernadette as an assistant. However, she doesn't feel it's such a good idea, because she's not so good with kids. The ending of this storyline involves Leonard giving Howard some sage advice about dealing with the possibility that he and Bernadette might be a childless couple. Of course, we all know how that ends up.

Now for the behind-the-scenes details; Amy's original line was supposed to be "Oh my God, it's a Tiara!" However, Mayim Bialik is a modern orthodox Jew, and saw such common expressions as taking the Lord's name in vain. Instead she opted for the line we know and love. Normally, I'm not one to endorse censorship, unless it involves the possibility of giving away U. S. Military secrets. But sometimes it works, and this was one of those times. And you just can't help but enjoy that moment.

The Only Good Kid Is No Kid at All
Hitchcoc15 October 2021
Two character issues. Sheldon is totally insensitive toward Amy and needs to figure out what to do. Penny gets into the act. The other part features a disastrous birthday party where Bernadette attacks the kids at Howard's magic show. It turns out she has never liked children. This is a bump in the road to matrimony. Average episode.

Blah!!
Eashanscool13 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst Big bang theory episodes i have seen. This show has changed too much and has ruined the characters completely. Sheldon a crazy clueless guy has a girlfriend (bull) He hugs her and she kisses him, which to he doesn't react angrily. Howard the Casanova, carefree bachelor is going to get married. No More cheesy pick up lines and all. They should really write of Bernadette of the show, shes not funny. Amy is still funny, yet she should not Sheldons Girlfriend. Since the show is heading this direction why not let Raj talk to women (exactly it would suck)

Please creators of this brilliant show get back to the funny terrific humor it had before

Stupid episode, IMO.
wkozak22116 September 2021
I really don't like this episode. Who would think Sheldon would care about anybody's feelings? Even Amy's. The idea to buy a tiara is stupid, IMO. Amy's reaction is very annoying. It gets even more annoying later on. She keeps wearing at odd times, especially at the Nobel conference.
