I like Dreamer, but what is this final season
plasmanflynn30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not usually one to give the "Where's the Flash in the Flash?!" argument, but come on we're over halfway done with the final season and there has been (close to) 0 running in the past 2 episodes. The setup from last season is not going to get covered at this point, there's no time left to give Legends of Tomorrow a conclusion, no setup for an arc involving any legacy characters. I'm mainly just shocked that this is what we're getting. Even when I thought I knew where the season was going, one final swan song for the Arrowverse, we get a disconnected storyline for Batwoman and an unnecessary overly complicated storyline for Nia as for Supergirl's inclusion. None of the Arrowverse shows except for Arrow had a satisfactory final season, because they were prepared for it. Flash was too, and yet this is what we're getting. Still, not as shocking as Becky's episode, what even was that.

Where's The Flash???
dwoodzz-3514831 March 2023
Oh my, another episode where it's up to Iris to save the day... again. That's why we tune into The Flash, right? Not! I would've rated this episode lower but I like the character of Nia Nal and I'm kinda diggin' the Khione character's journey and mystery (well played by Danielle Panabaker)... although it looks like she might just turn out to be Frost lite. And at least Cecile held back her usual tear fest. Why have the showrunners decided to make this final season so not about The Flash? Seems misguided. These feel like rejected scripts from past seasons just now inserted to fill up the last season. If so, let's bring back Cisco!!

Two seasons too late
RahulM00731 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A total snoozefest, and quite frankly a waste of an episode. To be frank, I found the subplot with Khione and Mark far more intriguing than the main plot. I love Nia Nal as a character and the energy she brings to the screen but find her powers to be bland and non-threatening. Nicole Maines is a shining star, but wasn't given the best material to work with. Overall, a forgettable and lackluster episode, and one of the series' worst episodes to date. Barry and Chester as baristas at CC Jitters is one of the few and minuscule standout moments of the episode. I always try to defend the show no matter what, but it unfortunately stooped to a new low. Regardless, I am enthused to see how the interlude chapter concludes, and can't wait to see the highly anticipated return of Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow, Wally West aka Kid Flash, and John Diggle aka Spartan.

Final verdict: 5.2/10.

Waste of time and internet bandwidth
xvoldyx31 March 2023
If you want to know how bad this season is compared to the first three seasons, I wanted to log into my IMDB account and rate it as low as possible. This episode is a total waste of 40 minutes and internet bandwidth.

The show should be renamed "Iris West-Allen" or "Not The Flash", because The Flash is not even in the episode. No single whooshing. No offense to the cast, but there is no seriousness in the acting or their dialogs. I know Grant Gustin is a great actor, but I think whoever wrote the script has another agenda to sideline the main character and promote other things. It's very disappointing to see one of my favorite TV shows devolve into this.

2 filler episodes in the final season...
yosialeli31 March 2023
What the hell even is this? These episodes are just repetitive. It is the LAST season of the Flash and we don't even have a main villain, and Barry isn't even the main character anymore. At least give us something better than that, Grant deserves better. I hope that further episodes will show some actual action and plot revolving around the flash, and that zoom's, Oliver's, and Jay Garrick's return will keep them the characters we once used to get excited about, and not ruin them too because if they do get ruined, then I regret even watching everything after season 4. Put some respect on their names.

How many episodes can they waste in the final season?
jp757031 March 2023
Another wasted episode. In this one, the Flash doesn't appear at all, just Grant as Barry. (Does Grant really hate the red Flash suit that much?)

With a diminishing number of episodes left in the final season, the producers have failed to create any sense of urgency, or any overarching plot, to bring the series to a close. What started out with high hopes in its first few seasons is limping to a finish. (Sound familiar, "Supergirl" fans?)

For some reason, this episode brings in a secondary character from another Berlanti series - Dreamer/Nia Lal (from "Supergirl"). A truly odd choice since this character has never appeared in any previous Flash episode (at least according to IMDB). This was not unlike the previous episode which also resurrected a minor character from 5 to 6 seasons back (at least that character did previously appear on "The Flash"). What exactly are the producers thinking? (Unless these are purely budget-driven decisions.)

The big mystery seems to be how low can the show sink as it limps to its finale. There is no evidence that the remaining episodes are doing anything to advance the narrative, or bring the characters to a conclusion. All the producers seem to be doing is saving money. They might as well start running the remaining episodes in back-to-back pairs just to burn off the rest of the season.

Better than the previous episode, but...
savvypatachonica30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Not by a whole lot. The previous episode was just kind of a dull filler episode that had me looking at how close I was to the end so many times I eventually gave up a little before the end.

This one, I'm giving a 5/10 since it was watchable but mediocre at best. Lots of boring dreamscape scenes with Iris and Nia (and a big blue Jawa stalking them), awkward scenes between Mark and Khione including an incredibly cringey bar scene with an awkward jam-packed chorus of unnecessary and over the top reaction shots from every extra in the background listening in on their conversation... this was so weird I was convinced it was another dream sequence at first, and about 5 minutes total of Barry screen time (zero minutes total of Flash on screen).

This season has been a let down, but this is the second worst so far. I hope it picks up. It would be nice to see the series go out on a high note, but it's not looking good.

We're still in the final season, right?
samgat-6171131 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The episode started out well but soon started spiralling into yet another wasted story just like the previous episode. I'm worried at what they have for the finale if they keep on giving us stories that barely add weight to the entirety of what is supposed to be the final season. For one, they could have used this episode to further Khione's mysterious storyline instead they just turned it into a pointless love story opportunity with Chillblaine. Characters like Chester and Allegra hardly contributed to the episode. If anything this season is supposed to be Barry-centric, calling back on why the Flash is the Flash.

Another flashless flash episode.
spitfire_bc30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
2 episodes in a row now with no flash and Barry barely in it. This is the final season of the flash so why are they wasting an entire episode on Nia? She wasn't even part of this show. It's like the writers have given up since it's the last season and don't care anymore. I could care less about Nia. Could care less at about Khione and her sky high plant powers. Barry name drops Kara, Brainy, J'onn, Cisco, Diggle, and the league yet none of them show up. Also going on that, the last episode ended with a surprise baby shower for Barry and Iris yet no Joe, no Cisco, Diggle, Kara, or any of the other league members.

Well... I actually liked this. I can't believe it:
siggy0330 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, this was probably the most logical and less nonsensical writing they gave us so far this season. Don't get me wrong, it's still a filler episode, and Barry is barely in it. I'm not gonna repeat myself saying it's bs to have so many filler episodes in your last season but it's the CW, and Eric Wallace and it seems like they don't care about what the fans want, unlike Todd Helbing who actually learned from his mistakes with S&L.

Now let's talk about the episode. First of all, I will congratulate Candice Payton for her acting tonight. I always felt she barely had no occasion to show it off because of how her character was written. The fact that the writers wrote Iris better than Barry this whole season is not even disappointing, because we expect that from the CW. And guess what, we actually had a bit of character development from Iris with the whole article thing, and I liked it.

I never watched Supergirl fully so I didn't know Dreamer / Nia, but her character looked interesting, and it's a shame we haven't seen her powers more.

The plot itself isn't too complicated, but I'd rather have that that some complicated stuff the writers can't handle.

However, there is still a bunch of stuff we don't care about: Khione and Mark's relationship and Cecile. But we say that every week so I'm not gonna repeat myself.

Anyway, this was quite enjoyable, but I feel I shouldn't have liked it this much. I would've hated this if the previous episodes didn't exist. This was decent.

7/10.

Guess I was right about that Time Loop being real...
demigodshmurda30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You've watched this episode before. Now sure, shows sometimes reuse the same basic structure. Sometimes they even reuse tropes a few times. But when I say that you've watched this episode before, I mean that you've watched this episode before *during this season*. It was the season premiere, in fact. And spoiler alert, the promo for next episode looks like we're getting the exact same episode *again* next week!

In the season premiere "Wednesday Ever After", Iris is trapped in a situation that inexplicably repeats itself with another character that seems to have experience with this kind of thing. After having just survived a city-wide attack by an evil speedster with Negative Speed and some form of psychic abilities (from the Negative Sage Force), Iris gets to look back on the life she's lead and learns that Barry's planned out the rest of her life using a "map book". This forces her to question herself and her destiny, and regress into a drunken mess because it's safer than facing the reality that she's gonna be pregnant in a few months. The episode ends with Iris and Barry having a pep talk, then spending the day together and stopping Captain Boomerang from setting off a nuke that will destroy the city. It's also worth noting that Barry's ability to time travel to get them out of this is conveniently not mentioned by the writers.

In this episode, "Wildest Dreams", Iris is trapped in a situation that inexplicably repeats itself with another character that seems to have experience with this kind of thing. After having just survived a city-wide attack by an evil speedster with Artificial Speed and some form of psychic abilities (from the help of Gorilla Grodd), Iris gets to see what her life could've been had she gone down another path, and learns that an event she remembers from Barry's "map book" is coming up soon. This forces her to question herself and her destiny, and get inexplicably immersed in the dream worlds because it's safer than facing the reality that she's gonna be a mother in a few months. The episode ends with Iris and Nia having a pep talk, then going up to a door with some weird symbolism towards Nia's destiny and the death of her mother. It's also worth noting that Nia's ability to get them out of this mess is conveniently dampened by the writers.

Well since the writers just made the same episode twice, that means less work for me.

Sure, it was nice to see Nia again, and thankfully this time she's not on Supergirl so she at least we can be sure she doesn't commit any attempted murders (which actually did happen in Supergirl season 5's "Reality Bytes"). And for the record, that's not even a guarantee considering season 7's "Rayo de Luz"! You know, the episode where the writers tried to redeem multiple-murderer and former assassin Ultraviolet? Nia didn't have much to do this episode, which is weird considering she's in most of it, but at least the CGI for her powers was significantly improved from the way it looked on Supergirl (even though we only see it in one or two shots).

This episode doesn't really feel like a Flash episode featuring a Supergirl character. It feels like a Supergirl episode featuring the cast of The Flash. And it probably feels like that because Barry's only in like five minutes of the episode and does nothing!

And this marks the official second straight filler episode of the Flash's *final* season. It's even the third filler episode overall since the only important thing that happened in the premiere was that Captain Boomerang got introduced.

I just don't understand the logic of having filler episodes in the final season of The Flash, especially ones featuring characters that already had their arcs completed. I like Nia (in Supergirl season 4), but it certainly feels like they gave her an *ending* in Supergirl's final season. If we didn't see her again, I think that would've been perfectly fine. And Supergirl didn't get cancelled like Legends of Tomorrow and (*sigh*) Batwoman. And if you read my last review, you already know where I'm going with this.

Eric Wallace said that he wanted to do a big two-part episode that concluded Legends of Tomorrow's story. Well Mr. Wallace, you just had two episodes to do it. Two filler episodes that served absolutely no purpose in the season. What was stopping you from just cutting these two episodes that you *had* to know were a bad call?

I'm not now, nor have I ever said that Eric Wallace is *obligated* to conclude Legends of Tomorrow's story. But it's something that he said he *wanted* to do! Well he clearly didn't want to do it enough considering we *had* to spend an entire episode justifying why Cecile and Allegra became roomies, and we *had* to spend an entire episode "developing" a character that had already gotten a concrete ending. This leads me to believe that Eric Wallace *never* wanted to conclude Legends of Tomorrow, and only said that to drum up sympathy and bait people into watching the final season of the show he's driven into the ground for years now.

I'm open to being proven wrong, but all evidence points to that being the case.

One thing is abundantly clear about this episode. I have just watched The Flash season 9 premiere a second time. Guess I was right about that Time Loop being real...

Best episode this season
vshivers31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nia is always an incredible characters and i feel like her presence made the episode so much better than the others this season. Her and iris dynamic really elevates the episode, even if i don't love how it feels a bit forced knowing they've never interacted on screen before and only once in a group canonically. Just feels a bit weird how close they seem given that, but i still love it because they work really well together. I love Nia's arc this episode and how iris and Nia help each other out with their futures (Nia moving forward with get powers, iris with her journalism and general future.) The effects for Nia's powers looked cool. I'm glad that they addressed Iris's hesitance and worry about the future, because i was worried they weren't going to give it much attention if any despite how obvious it is and it's really nice that she got such a large amount of screen time to figure it all out. Chester, Allegra and Cecile are always boring to me, and mark is given far too many chances and Khione shouldn't have ever forgiven him, but i was honestly afraid they were gonna do an actual romance storyline for khione and mark and considering there's no way or writing that that wouldn't feel like he's projecting his love for frost, I'm really glad they aren't doing that (for now at least, but I'm hopeful.) Also just given the fact that he tried to erase her literal existence. I love the bar scene and i love khione calling Mark out even if i hate that she forgave him in the end. It was so needed and I'm glad it happened. The family dinner at the end was sweet and even though I could not care less about chester and Allegra, them being normal around each other and not just being in will they won't they hell for way too long is refreshing and it's shocking how i don't hate them when it's not awkward and about them being into each other and not doing anything about it and just being dramatic so it was nice to just see them together this ep instead of being weird around each other. Also love the mentions of nora, and Nia mentioning kara and brainy. If this is the last time I ever see Nia nal on my screen, I'm happy with the send off, and i think she made the episode so good and i do wish i could see her interact with iris more.

I liked this!
pauli_gomez1 April 2023
Even when there is little Flash here (not as bad as the previous episode) and Iris begins as a stupid lost woman, I found most the episode good enough. And I loved the guest star. My only real cringe was the Bar scene, which was silly and, as other poster said, I thought it was a dream. It felt totally fake.

But hopefully, this is over. We can explore more Khione, stop the "character development" stories and be back to normal stories that, I expect, set the finale. Praying it is a satisfactory one, because I still can't believe the showrunners did a total filler last week. Crossing fingers for that.

Wow...just wow. It's getting I have to keeping checking to see what I was watching cos it ain't the flash. I don't particularly mind iris but this thing about making entire episodes about her, and then bringing in other characters from , let's be truthful failed shows is very perplexing. Especially this being the final season. And I will mention it again it's the final season. A series that started off so strong and has ended like this is sad. Also what's going on with all the 8's and 10's reviews is all very... suspect. All seem to have never reviewed anything before? But I could be wrong. In conclusion... crap ep.

In My Top 5 Worst Episodes of the Entire Series
panagiotis19935 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for The Flash Season 9 Episode 7: Ok so right away the episode starts with a character that I don't care about. If im not mistaken she is a Supergirl character and she was also part of a recent crossover. I don't know her story, her powers or anything else and I don't care to learn about these things. Bad start. Wait is this episode going to be about this character and Iris? I hope not. An episode about Miss Pulitzer probably. I wish we never got the Khione character. Iris and Nia in a dream? Wow, exactly what we needed. Where is Barry? I don't understand what this episode is about. Why this Nia character needed to be involved? Why? The scene where Mark and Khione have a heated argument in the night club with everyone reacting to what they're saying was so cringe, wow, disturbing.

Half of the episode and we've seen Barry for like a whole minute. The Flash without the Flash again, love it! I cant believe that we have an entire episode about Iris and a completely irrelevant character trapped in a dream realm, like come on, this is the final season with only a few episodes left, give us Barry, more Barry. Why should we care that Nia lost her powers and wants them back? How does this connect to Barry/The Flash? It doesn't. This is the worst filler possible. The chemistry between Chester and Allegra isnt there, it never was, it will never be, fail. Mark is sad, Khione is sad and has ice powers, the end. What to say about this episode? Can this be considered a flash episode? More like another bad CW show. Pure filler, bad plot, awful in every way. In my top 5 worst episodes of the entire series. My rating is 2/10.

Wildest Dreams
C-R-19709 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Was the episode title, but it could be more accurately named Wasted Time.

The series is called The Flash, named after the title character who is considered rightly so by many to be among DC's most powerful heroes...and yet here we are halfway through the final season of the show and he doesn't even get a single second of screen time. Instead we get the civilian alter ego, Barry Allen, and a guest appearance by a supporting character from the Supergirl franchise, Dreamer.

To make matters worse, or less interesting, Barry doesn't even figure into the main plot or even the secondary one. He's a throwaway character.

Wildest Dreams easily ranks at or very near the top of all time worst.

The hero doesn't attempt to use any of his speed, or powers, doesn't even suit up once.

There is only one small saving grace of this episode. Danielle Panabaker as Khione.

Warning: Spoilers
Somebody gave this 1 star and implied that supergirl was a failed show, yet yhat ran for 6 season, the vast majority of scripts don't make it to pilots the vast majority of pilots don't make it to series and the vast majority of series don't make it beyond 1 or two seasons so while supergirl not the best arrowverse series in my opinion it's not a failed show and I really like that the other arrowverse shows haven't been forgotten now they have ended and I liked seeing nia pop up but I do wish the season would focus more on the main plot of the season, I never really been a big fan of stand alones.

Candice Patton and Nicole Maines are a dream come true!
YoRocky8930 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The episode starts with Nia Nal/Dreamer (Nicole Maines) alone in a dimly lit warehouse, where she encounters a mysterious figure in a dark robe and various people, but suddenly Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) appears in front of Nia and dies moments later. The scene cuts to Nia asleep in the National City Jitters coffee shop, but once she wakes up, she knows she needs to hurry to Central City to warn Iris of what she saw in her dream. Nia arrives in Central City and meets up with Iris (for real) and Nia begins telling Iris that she is actually one of her role models when it comes to journalism, but things take a dark turn when that mysterious figure from Nia's dream appears and traps Iris and Nia in a dream, which then turns into a nightmare! Throughout the episode, both Iris and Nia face several challenges, including different versions of the life Iris could have had and the doubts they both have about their lives and destinies. Both Iris and Nia eventually come out of the dream stronger from their experiences, but not before Nia learns that the mysterious figure in her dream was in fact the original Dreamer.

Candice Patton and Nicole Maines have only worked together on screen for this one episode, but from their chemistry, you would think they have been working together for years. Nicole hasn't played Nia/Dreamer on screen since Supergirl wrapped up late in 2021, but she has not missed a beat; she is still as fantastic and badass as ever, and this episode, in my opinion, was definitely a winner for Candice and Nicole and their respective characters. Bravo, Candice, and Nicole!

Refreshing Change
jeanfranbn1 April 2023
Great epi! Breath of fresh air to FINALLY see an epi that Entertains with Excellent Leads and Guest Actor. The storyline was good and the subplots intertwined easily. WestAllen was cute, too. Loved seeing Nia Nal AGAIN! The Iris West-Nia Nal Team-Up was Genius! This episode is Definitely Re-Watch Worthy! The Dream World was interesting and reminded one of the Hitchcock style of mystery.. It was good to see Iris as a cop, her intended profession which Joe prevented her from becoming. She would have good at it. Also, good to see Nia settle her past fear of her Mother's death. She also discovered heather origin of her powers. That WestAllen is one that will become added to their Iconic Collection! This episode was Superbly done.

Filler isn't always bad.
cameronplayzrblxpineda31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
While this episode was filler, it doesn't mean its bad. This episode was a very good episode, (it had its bad moments) and was filler. Filler isn't bad, this wasn't a bad episode. People are complaining about how it doesn't have the flash or how its about Iris, it's wraping up a show that ended and didn't have time to wrap up. I'm very happy with this episode, it was a refresher from last episode and I don't understand why it's getting so much hate. Some important things happened in this episode like Mark leaving. This episode was a very good episode and it deserves a much much, much higher rating.

Definitely The Best "Filler"
jayYYZ1 April 2023
Fun episode that needed more "FLASH", but for a "filler" it was definitely one of the best in recent memory. This is the only episode that relates back to 9x01, so the bad reviews of it are clearly people not paying attention, or those who dislike Iris?

This final season should revolve around Barry & Iris, THE FLASH out in the field, & Iris at CCCM. So far, Iris' character has gotten a bit more to do, but Barry still suffers largely in part so Cecile & Allegra (go to work, journalist) & Khione & Mark have things to do...it sucks.

Barry & Iris & The Flash need to be featured more heavily in the back half for this season to be a success...for now I enjoyed this episode with Iris exploring her different career paths & overcoming her fear of knowing the future bc of her time travelling husband.

Good episode!! Better than last episode
alexkadolph30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was an interlude episode, but it was one of the few interludes that was actually great! Of all the interludes they've done, 7x12, 8x06, and 9x07 have been the only good interlude episodes. This was by far significantly better than the dumpster fire that was 9x06. It was such a treat to have Nicole Maines back as Dreamer for a fun episode. She and Candice Patton have great chemistry and it was great to finally see them together on screen. A trans woman and a Black woman sharing the screen is such important representation! I only wish that we got more of Nia in Central City. However, the episode was weakened by the deadweight characters. The episode had too much Cecile, Khione, and Mark. The only time I was interested in Mark was when he took his shirt off. Khione doesn't seem to have a purpose on the show and seems to be an excuse to keep Danielle Panabaker around. Cecile has long overstayed her welcome and Allegra has had no character growth since season 7.
