The story was inspired by "Paul the Squid", a common octopus who was used to predict the results of association football matches.
The scenes involving Nostradamus-chicken were filmed first. Against all expectations, there were no troubles while filming them. The chicken was not afraid of the camera and surprisingly picked the bowl with the card saying "Ajax", just like in the script. However, in the script, the chicken was suppose to pick "Prigorke" over "NK Dubrava" for the second prediction, and then "NK Bilogora" over "Prigorke" for the final match. The chicken picked the opposite bowls, so the director just simply switched the two teams and had the "Prigorke" team play against "NK Dubrava" in the final match, and not against "NK Bilogora".
Director Marin Mandir, an animal rights proponent, insisted that the chicken playing the "Nostradamus-chicken" gets billed during the closing credits. The chicken is credited as Roberta.
The chicken in the film was already seen in the opening credits of Marin Mandir's previous film Racak Incident... Part Deux (2011).
Marin Mandir did not include Kresimir Misak in the script because he was afraid he would not be able to commit him for the film. Mandir, a fan of the TV show Na rubu znanosti (2002), had the idea of Misak's cameo in his head, but did not tell anyone from the crew at first. When Misak accepted the role, Mandir only told actor Bozidar Horvatic to show up on location for filming because a "special guest" will be there. Horvatic, not knowing almost anything about what scene he will be playing, was genuinely surprised when he realized that Misak is the "special guest". Misak's sequence was filmed in an hour and a half. Until the premiere of the film, only Horvatic, Mandir, Paula Bucar and Goran Kramaric knew about his appearance, which caused a surprise among the audience attending the screening. Mandir later praised Misak's cameo and a sense of humor, even saying: "Rarely do you get something so satisfying that easily."
