In 'Ging Gang Goolie' the Tabor Heights sheriff refers to 'Schwarzkopf himself' having visited the town to investigate the criminal activity there. This is a reference to real life figure Colonel Norman Schwarzkopf Sr., the father of the famous Gulf War General who was head of the newly formed New Jersey State Police. He would later find fame investigating the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and would host the crime themed radio show 'Gangbusters'.
The medal left lying on the stair and which Harrow picks up is a World War I-era French Croix de Guerre, or War Cross. It was awarded to French and Allied soldiers for valorous service during the war in France, and was the French equivalent of the British "mentioned in dispatches."
