Great ending to the Show!

Warning: Spoilers
Obviously, the last scene was just one of the possibilities in Tobeys head. Block universe and all that. There is no way for a logical return of her just like that. Tobey thought it didnt make sense either, when Libby explained the ending of her book (because Libby was talking about herself and not Rachel). Nah.

Imo only their book talk felt a tiny bit cringe and didn't need to be included. But thats about all I did not like here.

Thanks for an amazing series overall! To the person talking about Season 2: this was one book that was adapted to a mini series. And what a great one it was, kudos to everyone involved.

Great show, NOT a great finale
grayner-230 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let's just say I was a bit disappointed. The scenes between Toby and Lizzy were great. So profoundly touching - they did a great job of getting to the heart of both of their problems. I thought the Seth stuff was dealt with a bit abruptly. But the issue is, this whole series focused on the breakdown of Toby's marriage and then they magnificently shifted the perspective to Rachel's viewpoint and you see the reasons behind many of her poor choices. But this is left as just a cliffhanger. I certainly didn't expect everything to be magically resolved in this series in the season finale episode but I did hope to get a little bit of closure leading into season 2. There is a difference between creating a cliffhanger and leaving someone dissatisfied for the season. I'm sure season 2 will be amazing but still I would have preferred a bit more meat on the bone to end this season. Otherwise, a brilliant show I loved.

Good execution, but the show was ultimately flawed, on writing.

The show had good execution in terms of cinematography and acting and directing, but the show was ultimately flawed and I believe the main culprit is the writing and its limitation that it forced upon on its story. Namely what it mainly failed to do: is to have a all-around view on the human condition when it gets to relationships and personalities in general; to be more specific: the show had the delusion that there are basically only 2 or 3 character types in world and it insisted especially on its concluding remarks that nothing else can exist; its platitudes were its biggest flaw because the world is not as simple as that.

Exquisite ending to an amazing show

Warning: Spoilers
At first, she's just a voice narrating a story. But by the end you come to know Libby, to identify with her restlessness, her fears. At first, the show is about Toby, and how Toby sees the world. His divorce. His ex-wife. But then we see things from Rachel's perspective. This is a story that opens like a flower.

It's a funny thing, with all of the action movies to get your pulse pounding, the fantasy and adventure to sweep you away, I haven't seen something as riveting and moving as the scene between Libby and Toby as they sit on the pillows facing one another at Seth's party. He is talking about one thing and she another and yet it's beautiful and synergistic.

This story concludes just beautifully. It built beautifully, it opened, it was smart, it was heartfelt. And whether Rachel shows up at his door or it's just a moment of hope for Toby, it doesn't matter.

Bravo to Taffy the incredible author of the novel and developer / writer of the show, and to everyone involved. Thank you for this.

Why write anything unless it's about everything? You absolutely did.

The Liver

Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure if I would call Fleishman is in Trouble a success or not. There were some good moments, some powerful scenes, and it did provide a depressing look at turning 40, but I also found myself bored a lot of times each and every week and especially here.

The discussion about Libby's book just felt so lame and cliched at this point. It felt like the kind of thing you only see on TV and never in really life.

I also don't like the fade to black immediately after Rachel comes home. It is clear the viewer is supposed to interpret the ending how they want and wonder what will happen next, but I don't think that's the right call here.
