[This story contains spoilers from the series premiere of Mary & George.]
In 2018, while flicking through the LGBTQ+ section of a copy of Time Out magazine, television producer Liza Marshall found a listing for a lecture about the sexuality of James VI and I, who reigned as the king of Scotland from 1567 to 1625 and, following the death of Queen Elizabeth I, also became the first Stuart king of England from 1603 to 1625. Despite having studied history during college, Marshall was surprised to discover that James had three significant relationships with men in his lifetime — the last of which forms the basis of the new historical drama Mary & George, which premiered Friday on Starz.
“It’s fair to say, at the beginning of the process, nobody wanted to make this show. No one knows anything about the Jacobean era,” Marshall tells The Hollywood Reporter of the 22 years that James spent as the ruler of both England and Scotland. “We know about Elizabeth I,...

In our exclusive, Nsfw (Not Safe For Work) clip from Concrete Plans, Jim recognizes that it's become time for his team to take action, but he kinda doesn't want to force anybody to do anything they don't want to do. So, in his gruff, straightforward manner, he lays down the rules of engagement: whoever loses then becomes the one who must accept responsibility, i.e. blame. What is he talking about? Jim (Chris Reilly) is part of a tight team that has been brought to the Welsh countryside to renovate a farmhouse that has seen better days. It's rough, tough work, yet it will be rewarding once they finish, no doubt, and once they get paid what they're owed. Yet even before they get to that...

Shadowhunters may have come to a bittersweet conclusion, but another one of its actors had landed a new TV role.
Dominic Sherwood, who played Jace on the recently canceled Freeform drama, has joined the cast of Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
He is one of six new additions, joining the series alongside Adam Rodriguez, Michael Gladis, Lorenza Izzo, Thomas Kretschman, and Ethan Peck.
The new series is set in 1938 Los Angeles, and focuses on Det. Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto), who becomes embroiled in an epic story following a murder that shocks the city.
It quickly paves the way for Tiago and his family “grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart,” according to the official logline.

Sherwood will play Kurt, the chauffer and bodyguard for Richard Goss (Kretschmann). There's more to Kurt than meets the eye: an unexpected depth and surprising background.

Joe Johnston has signed on as co-director of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms alongside Lasse Hallström. Disney’s live-action adaptation of the E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 holiday classic is set to hit domestic theaters November 2.
“I watched an early cut of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and I saw something unique and fresh,” Johnston said in a statement. “When I was asked to direct the remaining elements, I saw an opportunity to complete Lasse’s wonderful and wildly inventive vision. I know we’ll both be proud of the end result.”
Deadline hears that Hallström asked Johnston to take the gig, and he accepted.
“It was an absolute blessing to have Joe Johnston step in when it became clear that I wouldn’t be available for reshoots,” added Hallström. “Joe is the ultimate expert in visual effects, and I enjoyed collaborating with him on this film.”

I liked the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water, but I love the new red-band trailer. Not because of the red-band (Not Safe For Work) elements, though. The initial trailer emphasized the loneliness and isolation of government worker Sally Hawkins. Now we see more of her playful side, and we also get much more Michael Shannon -- always a good thing, because I love that dude -- as he sturms und drangs around the secret laboratory where experiments are being conducted upon a very unusual creature. Please take a look below. Then let us know your thoughts, either via the 'Love It' / 'Hate It' buttons above or below, or in the comments section below. The Shape of Water will open...

Set in Vietnam, Neill Blomkamp's Firebase takes in fleshy monsters, guns and gallons of gore. You have been warned...
Over the past few weeks, we've heard quite a bit about Oats Studios - director Neill Blomkamp's independent studio dedicated to making experimental short films. We've already seen Rakka, a 20-minute invasion story starring Sigourney Weaver and a horde of lizard-like, telekinetic alien monsters.
See related The Loch episode 3 review The Loch episode 2 review The Loch episode 1 review
Next comes Firebase - a piece even gorier and more grotesque than the last. It's set in the Vietnam War, and introduces a terrifying being dubbed the River God, which is capable of inflicting all kinds of horrors on feeble human bodies. Like Rakka, Firebase could form the basis of a feature film further down the line - though as Blomkamp says, he'll be partly basing what happens...

Even Emma Watson and Tom Hanks May Not Be Enough to Make a Mark As April Ends
The last weekend of April, and the “slower” spring movie season is ending this weekend, leading directly into the start of the lucrative summer box office next week. As has been the case in past years, the last couple weekends in April see a couple movies hoping to bring in any amount of money before the first big summer blockbuster, and other movies that will steal away their theaters. Last weekend was pretty sad, but hopefully a few of this weekend’s movies will fare better.

Half an hour out east on the Hammersmith & City Line, across a busy dual carriage way, just down from a branch of Tesco’s and tucked away in an old warehouse, about 200 people are making a horror film.
The warehouse interior is now, thanks to the ingenuity of production designer Matt Gant and a few dozen set builders, a basement mortuary in Virginia. There are long corridors. Low lighting that picks out the Victorian wallpaper but leaves corners shrouded in deep shadow. A junk-strewn room houses a man-sized furnace, something the production designer jokingly refers to as “the pizza oven”, but is actually a place where...

This Past Weekend:
Another bad weekend where nothing really popped, which is bad news for a month at the box office where only Clint Eastwood’s Sully exceeded any expectations. Tim Burton’s new film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children came out just below my predictions with $29 million, but the Mark Wahlberg-Peter Berg disaster flick Deepwater Horizon was right around where I predicted with $20.2 million. The comedy Masterminds tanked with just $6.5 million for the weekend to end up in sixth place while Disney’s The Queen of Katwe did slightly better than predicted with $2.5 million.

Approaching psychedelic levels of strangeness, our exclusive clip from Antibirth makes the case ... well, I don't know what case it makes, but it sure is weird. It's also Nsfw (Not Safe For Work), and Pnsfpwotp (Probably Not Safe For Pregnant Women Or Their Partners). Synopsis: Hard-drinking, pill-popping, bong-ripping Lou (Natasha Lyonne) and her best friend Sadie (Chloë Sevigny) spend their days adrift in a druggy haze. But one wild night out becomes a bad trip that never ends when Lou wakes up with symptoms of an unexplained, highly abnormal pregnancy. Who -- or what -- is growing inside her? As her due date approaches with alarming swiftness, the fear, paranoia, and conspiracy theories begin to pile up. Spiked with blasts of hallucinatory color, surreal...

We are delighted to share an exclusive poster for Klown Forever, featuring art by Johnny Ryan. Some -- Ok, probably almost everybody -- might consider the poster to be Nsfw (Not Safe For Work), which is why we've parked it below (scroll down, but beware of the adult nature of the imagery). Speaking solely for myself, I believe this is a brilliant poster that captures the essence of one scene in particular while also picturing the essence of a very improper and raucous and very, very funny comedy that I loved when I got to see it at Fantastic Fest last year. Here's the synopsis: Klown Forever follows estranged best friends Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam as they travel to the States seeking fame, fortune...

"You're in America now, not some Eastern European wild West s-------." The first red band trailer for Sole Proprietor does not glory in its red banded (Not Safe For Work) nature, aside from some profanity and blood, but it clearly establishes itself as an adult-oriented dramatic thriller. Written and directed by Dan Eberle, Sole Proprietor looks to be an intriguing, off-beat affair. The official synopsis lays the groundwork: A former CIA contractor, who has faked his own death, forms an unlikely bond with a self-employed sex worker while awaiting the arrival of his new identity. She involves him in a deadly conspiracy that puts them both in the cross-hairs of a Russian pimp, a corrupt police detective, and a Honduran drug cartel. Alexandra Hellquist, Dan...

And if you need proof of that, have we got a trailer for you! Of course, it's Nsfw (Not Safe For Work), which is, apparently, the point. (I confess: I have not seen the movie.) Language, boys, language! In a new, exclusive clip from the upcoming 13 Cameras, two young men use language that is, most likely, Not Safe For Work, but once they've finished speaking, it's understandable why profanity was necessary. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I can always rely on my favorite films to cheer me up. Cheerful, jovial efforts that inspire hope, achieve humor, and glow with positivity. Movies are my escape from the daily grind, and I always love revisiting those magic moments that make me feel alive.
Unless, of course, I’m volunteering to relive the most disturbing movie moments of 2015, counting down every single scene that had my skin crawling uncomfortably. It’s a dirty job, but since my life is essentially blood and fire most days, I have no problem digging into the past to extract the most devilish, nearly-unwatchable moments in an otherwise jovial year of film.
More News From The Web
It’s not that these moments are necessarily the goriest, or the most visually appalling excerpts. Sometimes reality is most disturbing, or a disgusting relationship between father and daughter, for example.

Did you think Peaches had exhausted her shock value with a video in which she and Margaret Cho dressed up in onesies with dicks and sucked each other off? Nah. She's declared the video for her new album's title track "the most insane Peaches video ever," and you'll see why 24 seconds in, when you're greeted by a naked woman meditating on a giant boulder. In fact, nudity's a big theme in this incredibly Nsfw video, in which the smut queen gets held prisoner at a desert orgy ritual. How X-rated do things get? Let's just say Peaches visually interprets the line "can't talk right now, this chick's dick is in my mouth" extra-literally. There's also some public urination thrown in at the end. Like we said: Not Safe For Work.

Nsfw! Nsfw! The marketing campaign for Gaspar Noé's hotly, wetly anticipated "Love" (in 3D!) threatened to do for that acronym what early '90s hip-hop did for the Parental Advisory sticker. But laying to rest any fears that it was all a publicity ploy and Noe was going to pull a massive bait and switch and give us "A Room with a View," the film starts with a happy ending: the two attractive stars lie splayed on top of one another in media res of an act of vigorous mutual masturbation, that eventually comes to its predictable, sticky conclusion. You'll be glad to know that the terrible infant's latest film is almost wholly Not Safe For Work, unless you work at a porn store, or a sperm bank, or a film blog, in any of which cases it may seem unsatisfying for your purposes anyway, though for slightly different reasons.

Hello again, dear readers, and I hope you all avoided Fantastic Four like the plague this past weekend. On that topic, this is three weeks in a row that I’ve covered a comic book movie here on Trailer Trashin’. Now let’s dive into the new red band trailer for Deadpool.
Premise: In an attempt to cure his terminal cancer, former special forces operative Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is subjected to an experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, disfigured skin, and a dark and twisted sense of humor. Armed with new abilities and a new identity as “Deadpool,” Wilson hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Note: This is a red band trailer, which means it can only play in theaters with R-rated movies, and therefore is not appropriate for those under the age of seventeen. This trailer contains tons of violence, plenty of blood and gore,...

To fill the vacancy in one of their 2015 comedy pilots that had been picked up to series, People Are Talking, NBC and Universal TV have reached to one of their pilots that didn’t. Vanessa Lachey, who played a lead in the NBC/Universal comedy pilot Not Safe For Work, has been cast as a lead in the multi-camera People Are Talking, from writer DJ Nash, producer Will Packer, director Pam Fryman and Universal TV, which is slated for a fall launch on Friday. This recast should get people talking. Or not.

Nsfw!

Dead dragons, raw heart munching and John C Reilly in a big gold crown. Here's a first trailer for the fantasy movie, The Tale Of Tales...
Nb: The following trailer contains some images that could be considered Not Safe For Work.
Salma Hayek tucking into a gigantic raw heart at a long banquet table. Toby Jones in a wood-panelled bedroom, fondling a large creature that looks a bit like an elephant seal. These are just some of the extraordinary sequences you'll find in the extraordinary trailer for The Tale Of Tales.
Based on the collection of Italian fairytales of the same name, The Tale Of Tales is the latest feature from Matteo Garrone, best known, perhaps, for his unvarnished drama about Italian organised crime, Gomorra.
Also starring Vincent Cassel and John C Reilly, The Tale Of Tales looks like a full-blooded and surreal fantasy - akin, perhaps, to a cross...

The role originally was a guest star/potential recurring but was upgraded after the table read and now has a series option. Written by Aseem Batra and directed by Betsy Thomas, Not Safe For Work is a politically incorrect office comedy about best friends Dale (Michael Cassidy) and Georgie (Christine Woods) whose relationship is upended when he starts dating…...

We've been signing the praises of Adam Mason on the site for years. The American horror director has a taste for the off-beat and usually has a very specific take on what would seen to be a generic genre exercise. Blood River comes immediately to mind, but he's made some great films over the past years including Luster and Not Safe for Work, which he co-wrote with long time collaborator Simon Boyes.
His new film is called Hangman. It recently played at SXSW to great praise, so we tracked down the first trailer for you to take a look at. Again, while the footage may appear to ape the Paranormal Activity found footage feel, you can tell there is something much more sinis [Continued ...]...

NBC has a new face on their very non-politically correct show Not Safe for Work, Vanessa Lachey. The wife of Nick Lachey is ready to continue on with her acting career. She did stars on Dads, which clearly did not last. However that is not stopping her from making her dreams to come true. Vanessa will play Drea, a self-centered news anchor who finds herself tearing up her boyfriend’s friendship. The show is in pre-production for a pilot episodes. As of when the series will premier, that remains to be seen.
I feel bad for Vanessa as she struggles to find her identity in her career. She seems to be doing okay, but you can tell that she wants much more than a supporting role. Hopefully a show like Not Safe for Work can actually expand on her landing a starring role She should just be glad she is...

Sorry for missing last week, dear readers, but I was so busy with work and other commitments that I had to let the column fall by the wayside. But I’m determined to not let that become a habit, and I’ve got something really cool for you this week. The only thing more tired than CCTV-found footage movies is trailers for CCTV-found footage movies. At this point – with Paranormal Activity 6 on the horizon – it feels like there is little left to see in the way of groundbreaking, fresh scares. It is one of the greatest downfalls of the modern film industry that as soon as someone comes up with an interesting idea, there is suddenly a tidal wave of slight variations on the same theme, and the audience very quickly becomes desensitised to what once was something powerful and effective. But, possibly, the door should not be shut on CCTV-found footage movies just yet. Not until Hangman gets an airing, anyway.
Selected to premiere at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, Hangman is directed by Adam Mason (Junkie), who also co-writes with Simon Boyes (Not Safe For Work). It is a story that reaches for us right where we are most vulnerable – sleeping in our beds.

Well, the good people over at CineFix have gone the extra mile this Valentine.s Day by picking out their favorites. Check out their choices below. Warning this is Nsfw. And to helps those of you who are internet illiterate, that stands for Not Safe For Work. Enjoy. With credit to CineFix, they didn.t just go for the most obvious and celebrated sex scenes in movie history. Each of their picks is, for the most part, extremely different from the last, while an eclectic array of erotic moments are honored...
