Chicago Fire is one of the most popular shows on NBC and it has been since its premiere in 2012. For 12 years now, the show has kept viewers on the edge of their seats, waiting for the next twist and turn that the iconic procedural drama has to offer.
Now in its season 12, the show is going through many changes both in storylines and in characters as well. A lot of recurring cast members left the show recently, but it wasn't their departure that made fans gasp.
Although the deaths of these three characters happened many years ago, fans still lose sleep over the way they were killed off. The fandom is sure that they all deserved a better send-off.

The Chicago Fire season finale saw the series say goodbye to a beloved cast member. That character was Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) and the moment was emotional, both on screen and behind the scenes. However, there might have been one other departure that the show kept hidden.
Here is a look at someone else who might have left Chicago Fire after the Season 12 finale.
Could Chicago Fire Have Lost Another Star?
The department team and fans at home were saying goodbye to Chief Wallace Boden. The chief chose to resign as he wanted to take on the role of the Chicago Fire Department’s Deputy Commissioner. He won that job and he will still show up in a recurring guest role, but is finished as a full-time regular cast member.
The episode ended with the team saying goodbye to Boden. There were tears, congratulations, and well-wishes going around. However,...

The Chicago Fire season finale saw the team say goodbye to a popular character. While the character won’t be leaving the show for good, it is time for him to step down as a main cast member for the first time since the show originally premiered. Now, Eamonn Walker has spoken up about his time on the series and why he had to leave.
Here is what Eamonn Walker said about the Chicago Fire season finale and Boden moving on.
Eamonn Walker On Leaving Main Chicago Fire Cast
Eamonn Walker has played Chief Wallace Boden since the first season of Chicago Fire. He has been a hard-nosed, but fair fire chief for the station. However, like all good things, it had to come to an end. The good news is that Boden left his position on his own volition.

The Chicago Fire season finale featured a fond farewell to Chief Wallace Boden.
Fans tuning in for the final episode of Season 12 saw Boden become the Deputy Commissioner. It’s a role that takes him away from Firehouse 51.
The family he had created at the firehouse sent him off with well-wishes, as Boden looked to make changes for the Chicago Fire Department from the inside.
Eamonn Walker has played the role since the very first season, but his run as a series regular has ended.
This was sad news revealed to Chicago Fire fans, especially those shocked by what happened during the season finale.
Walker always had a great scene presence as Chief Boden, so the show’s tone may shift when Chicago Fire Season 13 debuts in the fall.

The workdays of the Firehouse 51 are filled with heroics and danger. But their interpersonal relationships are also full of problems and conflicts. Chicago Fire wouldn't be Chicago Fire if it weren't for sudden plot twists. And the Season 12 finale gave viewers one of those.
Jack Damon Was a Suspicious Character from The Very Start
Jack Damon appeared on the show only recently, in Episode 10 of Season 12, but he has already managed to make a lot of noise and raise a lot of suspicion among viewers. He replaced Derrick Gibson, who left Firehouse 51 due to mental health issues. However, the warm welcome for the new team member quickly turned to distrust.
Darren overheard Damon's rather suspicious phone conversation in which he said: "That isn't the only reason why I'm here. No, no, nobody here knows. And I'll keep it that way for as long as I want."

Chicago Fire revealed a huge twist during its Season 12 finale.
Much of the episode was spent saying goodbye to Chief Boden, but several other important storylines played out.
Eamonn Walker played Chief Boden on the Chicago Fire cast. The character had been a father figure on the show since Season 1.
As the episode said goodbye to one father figure, it also dealt with a bad father that Truck 81 had to deal with on a call.
That call led to some bad things getting brought up for firefighters Sam Carver and Jack Damon.
It was clear that Carver was triggered by a brother possibly burning another brother, but we didn’t learn what bothered Damon until much later.
As the episode ended, Damon revealed to Kelly Severide that his father was Benny Severide.

It’s safe to say that the 12th season of Chicago Fire will forever be remembered as one of the most bittersweet ones. With so many exits from the cast mixed with some of the sweetest events in characters’ lives, the show has taken its viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving them eager to see more.
Luckily, NBC has already made a decision and officially renewed all One Chicago shows for yet another year. The only thing the viewers hope for is a little more stability in Firehouse 51, however, with the new Chief taking over Boden’s place, it may not be the case at all.

We finally got the excitement we've been waiting for all season!
After twelve episodes in which nothing terribly jaw-dropping happened but several big questions formed for viewers, Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 13 delivered a season finale that delivered all the heat we've been missing.
This was the perfect way to cap off the season, and I'm satisfied with how the episode concluded.
This is the first time all season that I can remember feeling on the edge of my seat.
As always, a lot was going on throughout the hour, but it felt cohesive and organized.
There was some suspense, but so many of the questions we've been asking for months have been answered, and I feel so relieved.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains storylines from “Never Say Goodbye,” the May 22 Season 12 finale of “Chicago Fire.”
It was a night for goodbyes on “Chicago Fire.” The Season 12 finale was the final episode for Eamonn Walker as Battalion Chief Wallace Boden. The actor, who has served as the chief of Firehouse 51 since the series debuted in 2012, will no longer appear as a series regular beginning next season.
After a hard call, Boden decided to throw his hat into the ring for the job of Deputy Commissioner, mostly because those in the running (specifically Chief Robinson) wouldn’t be able to lead in a way that the department deserves. If he was to become DC, he’d have to leave 51 for good. After telling the team, he then told Herrmann (David Eigenberg) that in the slim chance he got the promotion, he’d like him to take over his job.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago Fire Season 12 finale “Never Say Goodbye.”] “You made 51 a family, Chief, and this firehouse a home,” Cruz (Joe Minoso) tells Boden in Eamonn Walker‘s last Chicago Fire episode as a series regular. That sums up who Boden is perfectly. He’s back, after helping out James, and determined to keep Chief Robinson from becoming Deputy Commissioner. He also catches up with Severide (Taylor Kinney), who filled in for him while he was gone, and the lieutenant remarks on how much of his job is counseling, something that Herrmann (David Eigenberg) has a knack for. Then, at a structure collapse, Boden goes up on a ladder to help a foreman who’s hanging onto a rope off a suspended platform, only for the man to slip and fall—before the bag below is ready. Instead, Tracy let the season play out, and ahead of the season finale, she has finally addressed her departure.
Tracy joined the show at the end of Season 4, becoming an important part of the Intelligence team and vital to the show following the exit of Sophia Bush (she played Detective Erin Lindsay).
Her character had many fans, especially when Upton’s relationship with Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) moved forward.

Chicago Fire’s strike-shortened season 12 has already seen a few major cast shakeups. Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) and Alberto Rosende (Blake Gallo) left early in the season, and Jocelyn Hudon joined the show midway through the season as paramedic Lyla Novak.
Now, one of the NBC drama’s longest-serving cast members is on his way out. Walker has decided to leave the show after 12 seasons. Though he’s expected to be back in a recurring capacity in the future, his last episode as a series regular will be “Never Say Goodbye.” (NBC...

Hank Voight is in harm’s way during the Chicago P.D. season finale.
During the penultimate episode of Season 11, Voight was taken from his home after being seemingly drugged.
It appeared that Voight had been drugged, leading to hallucinations and immobilizing the Intelligence leader.
As Intelligence began zeroing in on a lead suspect in the serial killer case, his team had no idea that Voight had been taken.
When Detective Hailey Upton went by his house, she became suspicious that his car was there, his backdoor was unlocked, and Voight was missing.
Was Voight about to become the latest victim of a serial killer that had plagued Intelligence for most of the season?

As a show about the first responders, Chicago Fire loves to kill off fan-favorite characters and constantly remind viewers that no member of Firehouse 51 is safe. But perhaps this attitude toward characters – only as tools of increasing drama – has not served the show well.
Chicago Fire Fans Have Seen Enough of Their Favorites Die
Chicago Fire began with a death – Andy Darden died in a fire in the premiere episode. This was followed by the death of Shay, one of the show's biggest fan favorites. She was hit by a pipe during a call in the season two finale, leaving viewers with a huge cliffhanger, but fans didn't learn of her death until the season three premiere.
The same was true for Otis, another character for whom viewers grew increasingly sympathetic. Like Shay, Otis died a heroic death in a fire. Once again, the seventh season ended with the tense call,...

Actress Miranda Rae Mayo shared some Chicago Fire spoilers about the big season finale.
One of the recognizable stars from the One Chicago shows, Miranda plays Lieutenant Stella Kidd.
Kidd was absent from the latest episode as Firehouse 51 dealt with the loss of Truck 81. Through character conversations, we learned she was in California hot on the trail of a new truck.
Things got more tense with Paramedic Chief Robinson, though, after Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) reported her right-hand man (Lennox) for nearly killing a patient in the field.
People have had to step up and lead the house recently. The absence of Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) has led to some interesting storylines.
Unfortunately, part of the season finale includes an “emotional farewell” to Boden.

The most beloved series about firefighters right now is undoubtedly Chicago Fire – each episode is an exciting drama about selfless people. The unpredictability of the plot twists and the high level of drama have contributed a great deal to the popularity of the show.
On Chicago Fire, the stakes are high – anyone, even the main fan favorite, can die. And one such death is still haunting fans.
Otis' Death in Chicago Fire Season 7
Otis Zvonecek was one of the most beloved characters on Chicago Fire – the members of Firehouse 51 treated him like a little brother, and Otis always put a positive spin on even the most difficult and risky situations.
In Season 6, Otis began dating Lily, the daughter of the man who sold him the bar the firefighter called Molly's North, and their duo melted the hearts of many viewers. The fans wished the couple a happy ever after, but...

Gear up, Chicago Fire fans, because it's time to say goodbye.
At least for the season, we'll hang up our helmets and turnouts and leave Chicago's bravest to a much-needed break.
Sadly, we'll be saying a real goodbye to one of the show's longest-tenured cast members.
Eamonn Walker announced his exit recently, and we're told to expect some details about that during next week's finale.
If you've been following our reviews this season, you'll know that we haven't been overly impressed with Chicago Fire since it returned.
But let's be real, not much could keep me from watching.
Once you've invested over a decade of your life into characters, you're basically obligated to see them through to the end.
So, while it has been a disappointing season, that doesn't diminish the fact that the show is still great, and I'll be back in the fall like the loyal lapdog I am.

Jason Beghe has some intriguing thoughts about how Chicago P.D. will end its current season.
The Chicago P.D. Season 11 finale will likely wrap up an intense serial killer case, with fans fearing one particular casualty.
Fans must watch the previous episode first because it ended with a cliffhanger.
Previous episodes of the One Chicago shows are all available for streaming on Peacock. Jesse Lee Soffer — he used to play Detective Jay Halstead — directed the latest installment.
Before the season finale arrives, several One Chicago stars appeared on The Tonight Show. And they spoke with Jimmy Fallon about what’s coming.
As a reminder, the Chicago P.D. season finale arrives on Wednesday, May 22 at 10/9c on NBC.

8. Emma Jacobs Was Done Dirty & Didn’t Deserve It
Emma used to be one of the most hated characters in Chicago Fire, but that only proves she was a brilliant antagonist, and Caitlin Carver was among the best actors on the show. Emma never deserved being sent away like she was, especially since she was right every single time… And “not being cut out for 51” is no valid excuse.
7. Leslie Shay’s Death Was Completely Justified
Throughout the many seasons of Chicago Fire, Shay’s death is often called the most tragic and traumatizing. Fans loved her character, and seeing her go so randomly was a real sucker punch… But if you take a step back from your feelings and look at the show as a whole, you have to admit: Shay’s death was a great choice storywise.

There is something extremely beautiful about the shows with an ensemble cast. When picking favorites, there are so many people to choose from that every watching session turns into a quest.
The most powerful effect always comes from those who triggered you enough to remember them even when they’re gone. This is the case with Chicago Fire: the show is ending its season 12 right now, but here we have redditors still screaming about how they hate a particular character that left 6 seasons ago.
Chicago Fire’s Most Hated Character
Well, the person we are talking about is none other than Gabriela Dawson, first known as a paramedic on Ambulance 61. Since season 1 she was one of the main characters of the series, and by the way, you might remember that it was Gabby who was Matthew Casey’s wife.

In Dick Wolf's Chicago One franchise, Chicago P.D. stands out as the most intense. Over the course of eleven seasons, the officers and detectives of the 21st District Intelligence Unit have faced devastating incidents that have deeply affected them and their loved ones.
Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the new seasons of the Chicago One shows have undergone some not so pleasant changes, and Chicago P.D. has taken a big hit in terms of budget cuts, cast shifts, as well as the reduction of the total number of episodes in Season 11, and that's why the final episode will be hitting our screens very soon. The events of the past week have pushed the risks to the limit and none other than the head of the Chicago P.D. Intelligence Unit, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), is now in mortal danger.

Robin Weigert has captured our affection in her role as Teddi on Tracker.
A no-nonsense handler with a heart of gold, a loving wife, and a soft spot for animals, Teddi Bruin is the perfect character for Weigert to portray.
In an illustrious career spanning decades, Weigert has landed roles in film and television that have made us laugh, cry, and everything in between.
The Washington, D.C. native spent the first stretch of her acting career in the Big Apple on the stage, only branching out to film and television after a move to L.A.
Since then, you've seen her in countless television shows and miniseries. She's done just about every genre, and with every role, she's knocked it out of the park.

Modern procedurals are moving more and more towards realism. If fifteen years ago even viewers could understand that the scenes shown to them looked completely unrealistic and unreliable, in today's projects the discrepancy with reality is often noticed only by the professionals themselves.
The creators of series about paramedics and police officers invite special consultants to the set, such as retired police officers, who regulate the actions of the characters so that they look as realistic as possible.
However, no matter how much the level of authenticity has increased in recent years, the procedural TV shows still cannot be considered completely reliable.
Chicago Fire Focuses Heavily on Personal Stories of First Responders
Chicago Fire is not just about firefighters and paramedics, it is about the entire flawed system of the Chicago Fire Department. Bureaucracy, waste of budget, deception of taxpayers, conflicts with superiors and everything that gets in the way of saving lives.

Chicago Fire is about to close its doors on Season 12.
The season has been a bit disjointed due to having fewer episodes. Losing cast members didn’t help.
Kara Killmer ended her run as Paramedic Sylvie Brett, and Alberto Rosende finished his time as Firefighter Blake Gallo.
Gallo’s replacement also left. That role was Firefighter Jake Gibson, played by Rome Flynn for a few episodes.
Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) has replaced Gibson, while Lizzy Novak (Joselyn Hudon) has replaced Brett. Will they last? Stay tuned!
Unfortunately, another series regular ends their run on the season finale.

Three One Chicago stars were featured on the Wednesday night episode of The Tonight Show.
NBC celebrated One Chicago Wednesday with new episodes of the three hit dramas, followed by three stars sitting down with Jimmy Fallon.
After comedian Will Forte served as the primary guest on May 15, Jimmy welcomed three recognizable faces from One Chicago.
Jason Beghe (Hank Voight on Chicago P.D.), Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd on Chicago Fire), and S. Epatha Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin from Chicago Med) sat down with the Tonight Show host.
The trio brought something fun for the host to enjoy while they filmed a new episode at Rockefeller Center in New York.
It was a good plug for the Chicago-based dramas, giving the shows some added buzz as the season finales approach.

I hate to say it, but I'm so glad this was the penultimate episode of season 12.
This season has had a couple of decent storylines, but frankly, the majority of it has been pretty dull. For a show predicated on action and drama, there's been a definite shortage of those things over the last dozen episodes.
This installment lacked the exciting follow-ups we hoped to see after Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 11 and answered none of our questions. What do we have to do to get some background around here?
The episode wasn't all bad. To be entirely fair, the growing bond between Violet and Novak has been lovely to see.

There won’t be a dry eye in the station, and not because of spray from a hose. Chicago Fire original cast member Eamonn Walker is stepping away from his series regular duties on the hit NBC series after 12 seasons portraying boss Wallace Boden.
His finale is next Wednesday, and the promo for his farewell promises a lot of emotion.
While there have been multiple cast changes of late on OneChicago, his Wallace Boden character is still very much alive and well, sources said, and Walker is expected to return to the show in a recurring capacity in the future.
Fans will find more clarity regarding what’s been happening with Boden and his plans moving forward in the Season 12 finale, “Never Say Goodbye,” airing on May 22.
The character has been on a short leave of absence due to personal family matters, leaving Severide (Taylor Kinney) in charge, but will return for the finale.
