There’s a moment in Age of Ultron when Wanda Maximoff (Aka Scarlet Witch) casts a spell on the troubled Tony Stark, only to reveal a nightmarish dream in which all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes lay strewn over the surface of the moon – or some other ash-grey celestial body.
It’s a grim, surprisingly bleak hallucination that preys on Stark’s post-traumatic stress – guiding a nuke through an open wormhole will do that to you – and it’s one that clearly informs the latest fan poster for Avengers: Infinity War.
First spotted by Reddit, the one-sheet in question sees Thanos, armed with a fully-equipped Infinity Gauntlet, crushing Cap’s shield as though it was nothing more than a star-spangled dinner plate. But lean a little closer and you’ll begin to uncover all of the many Easter eggs and cute references scattered around the Mad Titan’s imposing fist.

A video recently surfaced from Screen Crush that breaks down the latest trailer for Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One and points out 62 Easter eggs! I posted a breakdown of my own, but this video points out a few other things that I missed, like Parzival's ThunderCats belt buckle and a bunch of other characters spotted in battle. So, this is definitely worth watching if you're excited about the movie! It's an explosion of geek pop culture! ...

Easter eggs, nods to the broader Stephen King world and more: we look again at The Dark Tower movie...
This feature contains major spoilers for both The Dark Tower movie and novels.
There’s an old adage in the film industry that you’ve probably come across if you’ve listened to enough podcasts or watched a few interviews with those in the business, a familiar nugget of received wisdom that most filmmakers will elicit, perhaps with a contemplative shrug, or maybe whilst wearing a pained grimace of world-wearied experience: nobody sets out to make a muddled movie. In the case of the eagerly-awaited Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower, there’s no arguing that like virtually all movie projects in existence (and perhaps even more than most), the genesis of this film was undoubtedly rooted in love.
So let's examine the adaptation process so that fans...

The Snarling is new horror comedy from director Pablo Raybould and producer Ben Manning, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Saturday 20th January. This will be the official launch of The Snarling (and screening of the release version).
I got chance to ask a few questions about why they decided to write a horror comedy, working several jobs on a small budget production and Easter eggs in the film.
What can we expect from the film?
Pablo: Well, firstly, it has its pre-launch special screening at Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on January 20th at the Park Inn in Southend and this is where the whole thing began. So, what can you expect well… so many things. Comedy – first and foremost. There are also lots of same genre film references in there for those that get them. Ernest Cline’s sci-fi bestseller “Ready Player One” is less a novel and more a love letter to the 1980s wrapped around a plot. Easter eggs and pop culture references abound throughout the novel, and Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster adaptation appears to have ripped a couple of pages from the book. Here are all the easter eggs we were able to spot in the new trailer. Remember Madballs? No? You may not be alone, but these rubber bouncing balls were pretty popular in the 1980s and well into the next decade. As the audience is treated to a look at how crummy.

Jessica Jones is back for more!
Marvel's hard-drinking P.I.-turned-hero -- played to surly perfection by Krysten Ritter -- returns a for second season on Netflix in the spring, and if the new teaser is any indication, she's not slowing down for anyone.
"Everyone has secrets," Jessica warns in the clip. "If not their own, then someone else's."
But it seems some of the season two secrets Jessica will be diving deepest into include her own, as she searches for more answers about the origin of her superhuman powers.
"Knowing what was done to you might help you," insists Jessica's Bff and voice of reason, Trish (Rachael Taylor).
But, ever the pessimist, Jessica can't help but wonder, "What if facing it makes me worse?"
The teaser clip also includes a look at returning fan favorite Malcolm (Eka Darville), a potential love interest in Jessica's new building super, Oscar (Power star J.R. Ramirez), and a...

To mark this weekend’s release of Ferdinand, from the studio behind the Ice Age films, we chatted to its art director, Thomas Cardone…
When art director Tom Cardone talks about designing the style of a film, he could be talking about music. It’s all a matter of rhythm and counterpoint, contrast and dynamics. For Ferdinand, Blue Sky Studio’s adaptation of Munro Leaf’s 1936 children’s book about a Spanish bull who prefers flowers to fighting, Cardone and his team developed a stylised visual language inspired by the rolling landscapes of Southern Spain.
See related Chad Stahelski interview: John Wick 2, Highlander
The goal was to make things “a little more fun than photorealism”, something achieved by sparing, but bold use of colour, comically stretching proportions, and repeating patterns the team discovered in authentic Spanish ceramics in the film’s paving slabs, wooden table tops and more.

Bringing an end to a hugely eventful week for Universal, the first official trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was unleashed during last night’s episode of Thursday Night Football and already, budding analysts are combing through each and every frame to uncover Easter eggs and wild conspiracies that threaten our very existence.
But if you’re worried that Fallen Kingdom‘s first-look teaser openly spoils the 2018 sequel, don’t; Colin Trevorrow has assured fans that the newly-unveiled trailer only contains footage from the opening 57 minutes. That leaves the sequel’s second act shrouded in secrecy, which only has us all the more intrigued about the screenplay that Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly have produced.
We now know that Isla Nublar was built on a long-dormant volcano, leaving Owen Grady and Claire Dearing with little choice but to ferry those magnificent dinosaurs off the island before Fallen Kingdom triggers an extinction-level event.

Just when we all thought 2016 threw some of the craziest possible curve-balls, 2017 came along looking to show us what real dramas, scandals and all-around madness truly look like.
From Hollywood royalty having adorable babies to actual royalty getting engaged, the year wasn't without its heartwarming moments – but make no mistake about it, we got more than our fair share of heartache, tragedy and stomach-churning scandal to balance it out.
So let's take a look back at the past 12 months, and see some of the year's greatest highlights and darkest moments – as well as some those pop-culture zeitgeists that captured our attention, long enough for us to temporarily forget our woes.

With the Nintendo Switch dominating the gaming market, and more developers working to bring their older titles to new system, I thought I'd take a look at some of the best games from previous generations that I'd happily pay money to play on the Switch.
The success of Doom, Skyrim, La Noire, and a few others on the Switch has shown that fans have a strong desire to play some of their favorite Aaa games on the handheld hybrid. Personally speaking, I'm all for it. Since the launch of the Switch in March, it's quickly become the gaming system I use most (and now have the most games on) due to its ease of use.
Being portable means that any game, no matter its size, becomes pick-up-and-play at your leisure. For a parent with four kiddos (one an infant), this if pretty important. I've passed on more big game releases than I'd like to,...

Let it be known that Pennywise the Dancing Clown is everywhere – even when the Losers Club think they’re out of harm’s way.
How do we know? Well, in anticipation of It‘s Blu-ray release in January, fans have been combing through each and every frame of New Line’s horror masterclass to uncover Easter eggs and other cute references to Stephen King’s body of work. And it looks like they’ve discovered what is arguably one of the creepier secrets.
But it doesn’t concern Derry’s haunted house – otherwise known as Pennywise’s crooked lair – or one of the town’s many sewer pipes; instead, this Easter egg is hiding in plain sight. Or, more fittingly, Pennywise is hiding in plain sight, as King’s shape-shifting abomination stares out from some nearby graffiti as the Losers Club talk tactics. To help convey the “visceral realism” of “Dunkirk,” Christopher Nolan oversaw an intense soundscape covering land, sea, and air timelines for the legendary evacuation of more than 300,000 British and Allied troops under German bombardment. And for “Blade Runner 2049,” Denis Villeneuve spearheaded a musical blurring of sound and score that carried both emotional and atmospheric weight in driving the “more human than human” narrative.
Thus, in each case, sound works both overtly and subliminally to immerse us in war and dystopia, sharing equal importance with the stunning visuals provided by Hoyte van Hoytema and Roger Deakins, respectively. In the end, it makes no difference if we can’t distinguish sound from music, as they merge into a singular experience.

No wonder Peter Parker’s Spidey sense is tingling.
Earlier this morning, Marvel Studios blew the lid off Avengers: Infinity War to unveil a suitably epic teaser trailer teeming with Easter eggs, subtle callbacks, and costumed crusaders. It was enough to prompt a frame-by-frame analysis, and it’s fair to say that moviegoers will be combing through Infinity War‘s historic preview for weeks – nay, months – to come.
But beneath all of the sweeping action shots – from Wakanda to New York City, the above promo is a truly globe-trotting affair – was an exciting peek at Spider-Man’s new suit. It is, essentially, the same one offered to Peter at the tail-end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, though we imagine Tony Stark has thrown in a few more bells and whistles to beef up the hero’s arsenal.
Mind you, it’s about the closest thing we’ll get to the Iron Spider suit,...

I don't know about you, but I have been rewatching the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War over and over again every chance I get. It's just so damn exciting, and it's filled with so much crazy footage for fans to comb through! So, I went ahead and took a bunch of screenshots from the trailer for you to plow through to try and find any cool little details and Easter eggs.
One of the biggest things that I noticed is that it seems to confirm the popular Soul Stone fan theory. As you noticed in the trailer, Black Panther and Wakanda were heavily featured. We even see that there's a major battle that takes place on Wakanda as Thanos and his Black Order forces attack. So why is Wakanda such a major set piece? That's gotta be where the Soul Stone is!
It's was previously theorized that the Soul Stone...

Say what you will about Zack Snyder’s directing style – or Joss Whedon’s, for that matter – but he sure knows a thing or two about lining the fabric of each feature film, be it Watchmen or Man of Steel or the recently-released Justice League, with scores of cute Easter eggs to uncover.
And that’s exactly what we here at Wgtc did soon after Justice League‘s arrival on November 17th, when our own Christian Bone compiled a list of subtle references that you may have missed. When I first heard that we were getting a Jumanji sequel with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, I was expecting a disaster. Then when the trailers were released I was pleasantly surprised by how fun it looked! But, as you know, trailers can be deceiving.
A bunch of critics recently started sharing their reactions to the film on Twitter and it turns out Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is actually a surprisingly great and entertaining flick! I was really hoping this would be the case, and now I'm even more excited about seeing the movie!

When it comes to the cinematic universes, Spike Lee was playing that game well before Marvel. The director has long threaded his characters through multiple films, mostly serving as Easter eggs to keen eyed fans. However, Lee reveals that “Inside Man” shares a pretty interesting, little connection with the stone cold classic, “Dog Day Afternoon.”
In an extensive interview with Vulture about his Netflix series “She’s Gotta Have It,” Lee touches upon the themes and characters that carry across his oeuvre, and details how his bank heist movie is connected with Sidney Lumet‘s picture:
….this is not the first time I’ve done something like that.

Now that Justice League is officially out in the wild – and facing a crucial second weekend at the international box office, no less – we’ve finally gained a better understanding of Joss Whedon’s involvement.
Having earned a screenwriting credit for his contribution, it’s since been revealed that the two-time Avengers director was responsible for 15-20 percent of the final cut, including one key scene of the Caped Crusader. But if a new fan theory is to be believed, Joss Whedon actually included a jab at Justice League within the film’s opening credits.
Comic book fans are known for combing through each and every frame in search of Easter eggs and other cute references, but this one takes the biscuit. To put it kindly, it’s a stretch, but there are those who believe that Whedon intentionally made his and Chris Terrio’s (Star Wars: Episode IX) names...

Rian Johnson is currently in the news for his latest film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, hits theaters in less than a month. However, Johnson has also been put in charge of creating a new film trilogy set in the Star Wars universe. We know that the new trilogy will not feature any of the same characters that we’ve come to know and love. While in Mexico for a Last Jedi press event when asked about the new trilogy Johnson stated:
.We’re gonna have to see. I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. If Marvel and Netflix decide to push on with a second season of The Punisher, Frank Castle could come face-to-face with two major Marvel villains: Barracuda and Kathryn O’Brien.
At least, that’s according to series showrunner Steve Lightfoot, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter (via Cbm) about the newly-released Marvel series, its titular anti-hero, and the excessive (?) violence underpinning Frank’s standalone story.
But whereas The Punisher‘s inaugural season thrust our haunted protagonist into the midst of a government conspiracy, it seems Lightfoot wants to extract two major comic book villains in the not-so-distant future – you know, providing season 2 gets the go-ahead from Netflix.
