Both Ralph Macchio and F. Murray Abraham made their cinematic breakthrough 30 years before the release of A Little Game. Macchio starred as Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid (1984), which spawned three sequels (Macchio reprises his role as LaRusso in the second and third film) and a 2010 remake starring Jaden Smith, while Abraham starred as envious composer Antonio Salieri in Amadeus (1984), a biopic of the legendary classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart which also tells his cold rivalry with Salieri. Amadeus won 8 Oscars, and Abraham's portrayal of Salieri earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor, while his co-star Tom Hulce, who portrayed the titular role of Mozart, ended up being nominated for the category that year.
