Recently, a friend asked me what Tiny Pretty Things — the new series I’ve been mainlining for reasons we’ll get into in a moment — was all about.
“Ballet, bitches and butts,” I said, with zero shame. (Note to Netflix, which streams the show: Feel free to use that as a blurb!)

Stormy Daniels, the porn star who claims to have had an affair with Donald Trump, and Cheers actress Kirstie Alley are some of the star names set to appear on the British version of Celebrity Big Brother as Viacom-owned broadcaster Channel 5.
The show, which is produced by Endemol Shine-backed Initial Productions, launches Thursday August 16. The network is theming this summer’s reality hit as The Eye of The Storm and is introducing housemates that have all been caught up in their own media controversies.
British tabloid The Sun reports that Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, is the show’s major get. The President of the United States of America will be hoping that the adult film star doesn’t reveal too much more during a possible reality TV stint.
She is reportedly joined by Scientologist Alley, who recently starred on Scream Queens.

Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle is reportedly being lined up to appear on the British version of Celebrity Big Brother as Viacom-owned broadcaster Channel 5 eyes a controversial theme.
The network is theming this summer’s reality hit as The Eye of The Storm and is expected to introduce housemates that have all been caught up in their own media controversies.
The entrance of Samantha Markle, otherwise known as Samantha Grant, would make perfect sense given her controversial views leading up to her half-sister’s wedding to Prince Harry. It emerged that she was responsible for setting up Markle’s father’s staged paparazzi photos and has also appeared on a number of British TV shows including Loose Women and Good Morning Britain, with Piers Morgan, to suggest that Harry would been better off marrying someone else.

Fast National ratings for Monday, Sept. 16, 2013
The first new network series of the 2013-14 season got off to a good start Monday: Fox's "Sleepy Hollow" tied for the lead among adults 18-49 in its hour and helped the network capture the demographic crown for the night. "Sleepy Hollow" was way up over Fox's "Mob Doctor" premiere in the same spot last year and even bested last spring's premiere of "The Following."
Also Monday, "Dancing With the Stars" kicked off Season 17 to a bigger audience than last fall's all-star season and better 18-49 numbers than either of last season's cycles. (Those numbers may change a bit in the final nationals as the network's Pittsburgh affiliate carried the "Monday Night Football" telecast.) The "Bones" season premiere was in line with its start a year ago for Fox, and CBS' "Under the Dome" was up in its season finale.

The new TV season doesn't start officially for another week, but you might not know it by looking at Monday's (Sept. 16) lineup.
Not everything on the broadcast networks is first-run that night, but between series premieres and season finales, enough is to make it almost seem as if the 2013-14 season was under way in full. At the very least, it's a solid indicator that fall is at the doorstep.
8 p.m. Et/Pt:
"Dancing With the Stars" (Season 16 premiere, ABC): Much attention is being paid to health-challenged TV icon Valerie Harper's participation in the contest -- with partner Tristan MacManus -- as it moves to a once-weekly telecast combining performances and results. The former "Rhoda" has ballroom rivals including Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, NFL veteran Keyshawn Johnson, Amber Riley ("Glee"), Leah Remini, Corbin Bleu ("High School Musical") and Bill Nye "The Science Guy."
"Bones" (Season 9 premiere, Fox):...

Fast National ratings for Monday, Sept. 9, 2013
The premiere of NBC's game show "The Million Second Quiz" scored decent but not great ratings Monday night, improving a bit the numbers for previous timeslot occupant "American Ninja Warrior." It led its hour across the board but didn't crack a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49.
Also Monday, the season finale of ABC's "Mistresses" scored its biggest total audience of the summer and matched its best 18-49 rating. The U.S. Open men's final ran well into primetime on CBS in much of the country, pushing everything else back. "Under the Dome" began airing at 10:30 p.m. Et.
CBS led the night with just over 6 million viewers and a 4.0 rating/6 share in households, pending updates for the U.S. Open runover. ABC (5.2 million, 3.5/6) came in second in viewers, beating NBC (4.6 million, 2.9/5). Fox drew 3.4 million viewers and a 2.1/3 to finish fourth. The CW (555,000, 0.4/1) was well off the pace.

Fast National ratings for Monday, Sept. 2, 2013
The Time Warner blackout of CBS didn't affect the network's ratings much over the past month, and the return of the Eye to the affected markets Monday night didn't change things much either. CBS led the night, and "Under the Dome" was up slightly in the 18-49 demographic, but its overall ratings were pretty much in line with last week.
Elsewhere Monday, a two-hour "American Ninja Warrior" hit a season high in adults 18-49 for NBC. "Mistresses" had its best ratings since its premiere for ABC.
CBS drew 6.8 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/7 share in households for the night. NBC (4.3 million, 2.4/4) edged ABC (4.2 million, 2.8/5) for second place. Fox was off the pace with 1.8 million viewers and a 1.1/2. The CW (556,000, 0.4/1) trailed.
CBS also led the 18-49 demo with a 1.6 rating. NBC took second with a 1.4, followed by ABC at 1.1. Fox averaged 0.7 and The CW 0.2.

Relationships are going up in smoke on this week's all-new episode of "Breaking Pointe."
All season long we've watched Allison DeBona struggle with her choice to give up her ballet career for her boyfriend Jonathan. It looks like his failure to support her love of dancing and his ultimatum might send her right back into ex-boyfriend, and fellow Ballet West dancer, Rex Tilton's arms in Monday's (Aug. 26) episode.
As for the former Ballet West golden couple, Christiana Bennett and Chris Ruud, their marriage hit a rough patch this season as work started to get in the way of their marriage. Has it finally reached a boiling point?
Watch a preview of Monday's all-new episode below:
"Breaking Pointe" airs Monday (August 26) at 9 p.m. Et on The CW.

Best Stance: Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller (Pictured above with your very own TV Addict!) didn’t necessarily shock many people by coming out as gay, but his decision to do so in order to protest Russia’s anti-gay laws earned him a gold star in our book.
Most Echoed Line: True Blood’s Eric wasn’t the only one shouting “Noooo!” as he burst into flames. Not that we believed for a second that the naked vamp’s goose was actually cooked (as confirmed by TVLine’s chat with showrunner Brian Buckner).
Worst Decision: How Adam Sklute — artistic director of the ballet company at the heart of Breaking Pointe — chose to keep Zach over Ian, we’ll never understand. Then again, we’re not the artistic director of anything other than our own highly-criticized wardrobe…

The fight for a permanent spot at Ballet West heats up in Monday's (August 19) all-new "Breaking Pointe," as Ballet West II dancers Zachary Prentice and Ian Tanzer compete for the one open male contract.
Ballet West's artistic director Adam Sklute must finalize all contracts this week before focusing on the "Cinderella" shows that will go live in two weeks. So not only are the newbies competing for a contract, but all the dancers at Ballet West need to decide on their futures. Whether that means retiring and giving up her promotion like Allison DeBona's current decision, or Rex Tilton finally gets a promotion -- despite his injury -- after three years as a demi-soloist doing lead roles, or Joshua Whitehead gets promoted to full corps member after one year as an apprentice, every single dancer is up for review. Fast National ratings for Monday, Aug. 12, 2013
The "Cma Music Festival" scored some of its best ratings ever since it started airing on ABC, drawing its biggest overall audience and its best 18-49 rating since 2006. The three-hour special helped the network lead Monday night.
Elsewhere, "Under the Dome" dropped some for CBS but still led its time period by a good margin, even with competition from the Cma special. All three of NBC's shows were up a little, led by "American Ninja Warrior."
ABC brought in 8.2 million viewers and a 5.3 rating/9 share in households for the night, leading second-place CBS (6.1 million, 3.9/6) by better than 2 million viewers. NBC (3.5 million, 2.1/3) was a ways back in third. Fox took fourth with 1.5 million viewers and a 1.0/2, and The CW (609,000, 0.4/1).
ABC also led the 18-49 demographic with a 2.0 rating. CBS finished second at 1.4, followed by NBC at 1.2. Fox averaged a 0.7 and The CW a 0.2.

The love for ballet usually starts early. Children either love the rhythms of dance class or they fall under the spell of a performance, where the costumes are as enticing as the dancers.
Onstage, dancers appear magical: ballerinas in costumes that make them look as if they could float as they glide about on their toes, men who stay suspended as they leap into the air. Everyone seems to defy gravity.
Those children who fall in love with ballet yearn to someday wear the costumes that look as if they came from fairy tales.
David Heuvel, costume designer for Ballet West, the dance company featured on The CW's Monday series "Breaking Pointe," has been designing such costumes for years.
The costume "can be whatever you need it to be as long it moves and breathes with the body," he tells Zap2it.

On Season 2 of The CW's ballet reality show, "Breaking Pointe," we have been able to see much more of the dancers' personal lives and how it affects their professional dance careers. Monday's episode (August 12) is no exception, as we will get to see how married couple Christiana Bennett and Chris Ruud's relationship has taken a hit due to their work lives, as well as a conclusion to Allison DeBona's decision to give up either dancing or love.
Principal ballerina Bennett -- who was just cast as Cinderella in Ballet West's big ballet -- took the time to chat with Zap2it about her marriage, whether or not she'll be able to dance in the ballet since her partner Rex Tilton is injured, and what we can look forward to seeing the rest of this season.
Zap2it: When you saw your name up on the casting sheet for Cinderella, how did you react?...

ABC’s The Bachelorette: Lesser of Two Evils finale drew 8.84 million total viewers and a 2.6 demo rating on Monday night, veritably matching the audience for last summer’s question-popping while dropping 16 percent in the demo.
The After the Rose post-mortem (8.33 mil/2.5) similarly slipped 6 and 19 percent year-over-year, yet with double the numbers of any Mistresses episode put a dent in CBS’ Under the Dome, which with 10.2 mil and a 2.5 was down 11 percent. (Note: CBS is estimating that the ongoing Time Warner Cable blackout in some markets is impacting numbers by an average of 1 percent.)
