NBC didn't find much ratings success with Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls so the show was cancelled. Now, they're trying a celebrity twist with Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Will it be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for season two?
On Running Wild with Bear Grylls, adventurer Bear Grylls takes celebrities to remote locations across the world, on journeys that push the physical and mental stamina. The first celebrities are actor Zac Efron, actor-director Ben Stiller, actor Channing Tatum, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, actor Tom Arnold, and Today anchor Tamron Hall.
The series debuted at the end of July to a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.43 million viewers. That was a decent start for a summer reality show. The second episode dipped a bit in the ratings but last week's Channing Tatum installment hit a new...

I’d hit the snooze button on Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls after checking in early on, but decided to wake up for the finale. Thank God I do not live in the wilderness — with Bear Grylls stalking me from a short distance — so I had Gotten Out Of That Rut Alive. And the finale was rather rewarding! After seven “journeys” across New Zealand in which the contestants have drunk their own urine, gobbled up maggots, nearly fallen off mountains, and trekked across a glacier (pronounced “glah-see-ay,” I love it), we were down to just six players….

Who will take home the top prize on NBC's "Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls" finale? Whoever it is, they're not taking the $500,000 grand prize without surviving one last treacherous adventure.
We've got an exclusive sneak peek at the season finale (airs Mon., Aug. 26 at on NBC), above, which features survival expert and host Bear Grylls actually stepping in to nudge the remaining three teams along -- which means literally nudging them straight into a rapid-flowing river where they have to band together and make a human raft to survive.
Watch above and tell us: Would you ever go on a reality show like this? Do you think their lives are really in danger? And, based on the judging criteria of heart, courage, initiative and resolve, who should win?...

We know Bear Grylls can get himself out of any number of sticky situations from his "Man vs. Wild" days, but now he's putting other survivalist wannabes to the test and it's making for some seriously addictive summer TV.
"Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls" has Grylls hosting, mentoring and judging teams who are being put through rigorous physical and emotional survival skill tests each week.
The Huffington Post has an exclusive sneak peek at next week's new episode (Mon., July 15 at 9 p.m. Et on NBC), titled "Living on the Edge," which finds the teams climbing jagged cliffs in New Zealand -- and it isn't easy. Going uphill seems like the most daunting part of a mountain-filled journey, right? Wrong.
"We're going downhill, so we should be able to keep a good pace and not have to take so many water breaks," one contestant says. Famous last words ... Soon...

In his hit Discovery Channel show "Man vs. Wild," British-born survival expert Bear Grylls pitted himself against nature in extreme situations.
Starting Monday, July 8, in the new NBC series "Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls," he takes that expertise and shares it with 10 teams of two as they set forth on a competitive expedition through the dramatic landscape of New Zealand's South Island.
Each week, Grylls will send another team home. In the end, the one team he believes has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve will win the $500,000 grand prize.
"I was always very clear at the start that this isn't a test of physical courage," Grylls tells Zap2it. "I'm taking you to a different place; you've got to listen. I'll empower you with these skills, but ultimately I'm going to send home the people I believe that, on their own, would never get out alive.

Fans of Man vs. Wild have all seen Bear Grylls survive hazardous conditions and get himself out of many a sticky predicament. But even with the British adventurer as a guide, not just anybody can step into Bear's hiking boots and do the same. Which is good, because only two of the 20 people competing on Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls this summer get to win $500,000 for having the savviest-for-regular-people survival skills! "I always wanted to do a show where I could take regular people and empower them with a lot of these skills and then put them through the pressure, in that cooker, and see who thrives and see who crumbles," Grylls explains in a new interview airing tonight on E!...

Former "Man vs. Wild" host Bear Grylls is back in business with Discovery as the host of Discovery Network International's "Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivors."
The show is set to air on 26 international Discovery channels. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the six one-hour episodes will chronicle "the stories of ordinary people stranded in devastatingly dire situations using archive footage and interviews with the survivors."
Grylls will also put himself in similar situations -- including the aftermath of an Amazon plane crash, remote areas of the European Alps and the North African desert -- to educate viewers on survival tactics.
Grylls and Discovery appeared to acrimoniously part ways last March when the U.S. channels "terminated" their working relationship after Grylls allegedly did not participate in projects he was contracted to appear in.
