The Voice judge and Oklahoma native said last night that he wanted to put together a relief concert in support of victims of the massive Oklahoma tornado that hit earlier this week, killing dozens. Now NBC is working fast to make it happen. If it comes together, I understand the Blake Shelton-led concert would be held early next week — the network is putting together a few more elements, including where the event will be held. Details about the performances are sketchy, but it’s anticipated that several of Shelton’s Voice co-judges would be involved. Shelton performed a song with wife Miranda Lambert during last night’s live episode of The Voice as Red Cross donation information played on the screen.TV benefits like this can come together quickly. In November, NBC hosted a commercial-free live one-hour benefit telethon Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together less than a week after the...

Oklahoma native Blake Shelton opened last night’s Voice results show with an emotional ballad dedicated to the victims of Monday’s horrific tornado. He sang “Over You” with his wife, fellow country star Miranda Lambert, as the Red Cross’s phone number flashed onscreen.
And the musician isn’t stopping there. Shelton annouced last night that he’s also organizing a benefit concert for tornado victims that will air sometime soon on NBC.
Though details are sparse thus far, Shelton expects the benefit to come together quickly: “We’ll know more about it in the next 24 hours,” Shelton told Billboard Tuesday after The Voice.

The waters have receded and the power is back on, but for the New Yorkers hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy, life will never be the same. Thousands of homes were destroyed and many people have been dislocated and forced to start over. The entertainment community, especially that with roots in the tri-state area, has responded in many positive ways, beginning with NBC’s primetime telethon on Nov. 2 that raised $23 million. On Dec. 12, Madison Square Garden is hosting The Concert for Sandy Relief, an all-star effort featuring Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Eddie Vedder, Billy Joel and several others, to...

It’s on all of us to pitch in and aid those affected by Hurricane Sandy, but it touches a cold, hard part of our soul to see famous people step up and do what’s right following a tragedy. They just have so much more money than us! In addition to Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Sting and Billy Joel reminding America to have a heart via song at last week’s Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together telethon, plenty of celebs did their part this week. For example…

Is Nate Silver a witch? All signs point to “yes” — though he’s traded bubbling cauldrons and broomsticks for statistical models and pure reason.
After correctly predicting another presidential election with his patented FiveThirtyEight model, Silver is enjoying the sweet, sweet taste of mathematically ensured victory — which is all the richer for coming after high-profile detractors sniffed that Silver couldn’t possibly be as accurate as he was in ’08. On The Daily Show last night, Jon Stewart tried to encourage Silver to gloat, maybe by yelling something along these lines: “I Am Nate Silver, Lord And God Of The Algorithm!
