Singer Niall Horan would love to have his doppelganger friend Allen Leech or Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio to play him in a ‘One Direction’ biopic.
The 29-year-old singer wants fellow Irishman Allen, 41, who he is often compared to, or the 48-year-old “Titanic” star to portray him if there is ever a movie about the popular boy band — which was also comprised of Harry Styles, 29, Louis Tomlinson, 31, Liam Payne, 29, and formerly, Zayn Malik, 30, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“Currently, it would be Allen Leech from ‘Downton Abbey’. I met him in a coffee shop in LA one time and we were just doing the whole, ‘We look like each other.’ Him or (Leonardo) DiCaprio. One of them,” Niall said to Et Canada.
It comes after Allen tipped Niall to play a young Tom Branson — his role in the period drama — if there is ever a spin-off of ‘Downton Abbey’.

Netflix has confirmed that a whopping 66 new original series, movies and specials will be debuting on the streaming service in October. Leading off the lineup is the eagerly awaited “Breaking Bad” movie, which the streaming service is billing as a “television event.” Emmy winner Aaron Paul reprises his role as Jesse Pinkman, who is on the run as his past catches up with him. The first half of the sixth and final season of the cult favorite “Bojack Horseman” will also drop this month.
Two features with awards buzz are coming to Netflix just weeks after their debuts at the Toronto film festival: “The Laundromat,” Steven Soderbergh‘s wry satire about international financial fraud that showcases Oscar darling Meryl Streep; and “Dolemite Is My Name,” a vehicle for Eddie Murphy who portrays 1970s comedian Rudy Ray Moore.

Spooky season is upon us, and Hulu is getting into the spirit with a number of horror or Halloween-themed offerings on its October line-up.
Along with Hulu originals like the horror anthology “Into the Dark” and the second season of Stephen King’s “Castle Rock,” the streamer is also offering films from the “Saw,” “Blade” and “Hellraiser” franchises beginning next month. For the more faint of heart, Hulu is also offering three seasons of Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” and the surely adorable “Kids Halloween Baking Championship.”
Not specifically Halloween-themed, but potentially haunting: All six seasons of the original run of “The Hills” will be available to stream on Oct. 1 for those looking to revisit the halcyon days of reality television and questionable late-aughts fashion.

British production company Fulwell 73 is set to produce documentary series “Flying High,” following a season in the lives of the Chelsea soccer club’s women’s team. The fly-on-the-wall series will follow the team through the 2019-20 season and look at the rapid rise in interest in the women’s game.
The eight-part series will go behind the scenes at the club, which is one of the world’s most successful women’s soccer teams. Fulwell 73 partner Leo Pearlman, who serves as an executive producer on the project, said that while “Flying High” would be a “fly-on-the-wall observational documentary,” viewers could expect “a beautiful and cinematic series doing justice to the powerful, human stories at the heart of the club.”

Documentaries are rarely big money makers, but we talk about them as having the power to influence change and motivate people to action in a way even narrative films cannot. So when a documentary does make a splash at the box office, it’s an even bigger surprise. This summer, “Rbg,” “Three Identical Strangers” and “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” are big hits when it comes to documentaries. And the Mister Rogers doc is well on its way to cracking this list of the top 15 grossing documentaries at the box office. This list is an interesting mix of political, nature and concert documentaries, and several of them likewise went on to win Oscars and critical acclaim. All numbers are domestic totals via Box Office Mojo.

When Zayn Malik walked away from his $75 million-a-year gig with One Direction last month in search of a simpler life, it wasn't a total shock to those in the know. Fans may still be trying to come to terms with the British hunk's 1D departure, but filmmaker Morgan Spurlock — who directed the band's 2013 One Direction: This Is Us documentary — saw the signs loud and clear. "He always struggled with being on the road," Splurlock, 44, said in a March 31 interview with HuffPost [...]...

Once you’re absorbed by its terror, you can’t even scream. The slimy mass that is the Blob first thrilled audiences when it took on Steve McQueen on the big screen in 1958. It next oozed into cinemas via the 1972 sequel, Beware! The Blob, before being reborn in a 1988 remake directed by Chuck Russell and co-written by Frank Darabont. Proving that it’s still a relentless alien amoeba, 1958’s The Blob is being remade once again.
Goldcrest Films is moving forward with a remake of The Blob, with Simon West (The Expendables 2, Con Air) lined up for the director’s chair and shooting slated to begin this summer. Modern-day special effects capabilities are expected to bring the Blob to life like never before, and Chris Haney (Avatar, Avengers Assemble) will oversee the VFX in post-production.

News outlets continue to sift through the trove of documents that they received as a result of the Sony hack that brought the studio giant to its knees. One document in particular reveals the studio's "ultimates," which is an industry term for the amount of money a studio ultimately makes once its theatrical run and other secondary streams of profit have been totaled. To that end, The Hollywood Reporter writes that This Is the End earned $50 million in profits, Grown Ups 2 $48 million, Captain Phillips $39 million, American Hustle $27 million, One Direction: This Is Us $18 million, Elysium $18 million, and Monuments Men $10 million. The document was apparently an effort to trumpet cost-cutting measures the studio tried to take. “Currently, approximately $1B in production spending can be expected to deliver $500M-$600M in profits,” the letter says. “Through his continued focus on financial discipline, Doug [Belgrad, the Columbia Pictures President] hopes to improve that...

He ate fast food for a month in Super Size Me and followed a boy band around the world for One Direction: This Is Us. So what drives Morgan Spurlock to make documentaries? The desire to be anything but "boring," he tells Lightbulb, a new Entertainment Weekly video series. It's good news for Marvel and Disney as their "Guardians of the Galaxy" tops the grosses for Friday. With a little under $4 million, it has reached a $262 million total, besting "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" as 2014's top domestic performer so far. And testifying not only to its strength but also the weakness of the rest of the field, it did so in its fifth week. But the day was sharply down from the Friday of Labor Day weekend last year, as the Top Ten grossed about $20 million, down from $26 million in 2013. That gap will be less for full three and four-day totals, though, since last year saw an almost $9 million opening day for "One Direction: This Is Us," which then fell sharply over the holiday. "Guardians" for four days will likely actually outgross what that concert film did for a similar period last year. Still, the tepid numbers seem...

If I Stay might win. Of course, you could say that about five or six films this weekend, it's not going to take much. Last year, over the three-day weekend, it only took $15.8 million (One Direction: This is Us). This year it will take even less, though keep in mind we're not predicting Monday around here. If you're looking at your spreadsheet at home, yes, this is indeed a five percent drop I'm predicting for If I Stay from last weekend, which is basically unheard of, but for context know that four films over last Labor Day Weekend pulled off the single-digit feat. The Chloe Grace Moretz starrer was also made for a slim $11 million, meaning my $14.9 million call is icing on the teenage girl cake. Not many films lose their first weekend and then come back to claim the crown, but the conditions are just right this weekend. I...

That's up 14 percent from the same frame last year.Guardians of the Galaxy eased 32 percent to $17.2 million. It has now earned over $251 million, and by Friday it will pass fellow Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($259.8 million) to become the top grosser of the year. It’s time for a game of movie news Mad Libs. First, name a long-obsolete classic cartoon character. Then, an American Idol judge (past or present). And finally, an action normally taken by a moody teenager. The results are in: The beloved character of Betty Boop is getting her own movie musical by Simon Cowell, prompting the rest of the world to roll their eyes with enough force to send them hurtling out of their sockets. This random-seeming jumbling of nouns and verbs (okay, maybe the eye-rolling makes perfect sense) speaks the truth: Cowell really is working on a Betty Boop movie. According to Variety, Syco Entertainment, the entertainment magnate headed up by Cowell and Sony, is working on a “music-driven hybrid animated comedy” starring the animation world’s first leading lady. Also, “hybrid” refers to a mix of CGI and live-action, which I guess is the official term now. Cowell...

The success of Transformers 4 and Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie is having an unpleasant side effect...

This weekend just gone saw two critically-reviled movies top the box office charts of the Us and the UK. In America, Michael Bay's fourth and longest Transformers movie, Transformers: Age Of Extinction, hit the number one spot, eating up around $100m of business in its opening weekend. And that's just in America. The film has hit $300m worldwide, and it lands in British cinemas this weekend.
It might find unexpected competition, however. For over the weekend here in Blighty, Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie, a far more economical enterprise than Mr Bay's latest opus, helped itself to a staggering £4.3m in its first weekend. It crushed The Fault In Our Stars, the previous number one, and outperformed any number of blockbuster films in their opening weekend. Mrs Brown's Boys is a genuine movie smash hit.

Why 'The Fault in Our Stars' Being the Most Liked Movie Trailer Ever Is a Good Thing Today, we don't want vampires. Garnering 273, 262 likes to date, the two-and-a-half minute trailer has racked up 17 million views. It's beat out the formerly most-liked trailer ever, the One Direction: This Is Us documentary. It's already one of the most popular movies ever, and it doesn't even come out until June 6th. What makes The Fault in Our Stars — the story of a teenage girl fighting terminal cancer and her whirlwind romance with a boy from her support group — so virally likeable? It's based on a 2012 novel by critically-acclaimed Ya author John Green, so it already has a built-in fanbase. But more likely, it tells the [...]...

(Cbr) Morgan Spurlock is returning to television, this time turning his attention to some of humanity’s indulgences with a Showtime limited series called "Seven Deadly Sins". The documentary will be broken into seven episodes, each hosted by Spurlock as he examines one of the Seven Deadly Sins: greed, sloth, envy, pride, wrath, lust and gluttony. “For years, I’ve wanted to do an "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"-style show comprised completely of nonfiction stories,” Spurlock said in a statement. “A series just as dark and twisted as anything fiction could imagine, and now I’m thrilled to have that dream come true with "Seven Deadly Sins". With Showtime as a partner, we’re going to make this as depraved as any scripted program as we dive head first into Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride.
