When casting for voice-over actors for Telling A You, director Margarethe Baillou surveyed in Bermuda exclusively, as she wanted an authentic local accent in the voices of the protagonists.
Film composer, Jody Gray, flavored the score of Telling A You with instruments and rhythms found in Bermuda and the Caribbean. Although Bermuda does not belong to the Caribbean, they both share the same musical heritage.
Among the professionally created sound design by Tinpot Productions in Dublin, Ireland, the sound of Bermudian tree frogs are original recordings made in Bermuda.
The pastel colors of the houses in Telling A You are not exaggerated. In Bermuda, all houses are traditionally colorful and Bermudians even mention the color of their house when giving directions to their homes.
Other Bermudian facets in Telling A You include the purple Bermudiana flower, free-roaming chicken and roosters, the Bermudian Longtail bird, motor scooters (which Bermudians call "bikes") and, of course, the world-famous Bermuda shorts, worn by the male protagonist.
