Investigation Discovery has a new production chief.
The cable network has hired Kathryn Vaughan as its new SVP, Head of Production. New York-based, Vaughan reports to Jason Sarlanis, President of Turner Networks, Investigation Discovery and Hln, Linear & Streaming.
She joins from Ample Entertainment, where she was Head of Development and Current Programming and oversaw documentaries including Peacock’s Violent Minds: Killers on Tape and Roku’s Morimoto’s Sushi Master as well as ID series such as The Price of Glee, Death by Fame and Murder in the Heartland.
Prior to Ample, she was President of Good Caper Content, which she launched as ITV America’s true crime and investigative documentary arm, overseeing series including Taken at Birth (TLC) and True Life Crime (MTV).

Filmmaker Michael Bay has closed a deal with Investigation Discovery to executive produce a new docuseries, which will expose a “terrifying, yet little known, true crime story” and is set to premiere in 2024.
“I’m a storyteller at heart; I’m fascinated by the human mind and exploring what makes each of us tick. When you approach documenting real-life crime from that perspective, the end result is always intriguing,” the “Transformers” franchise, “13 Hours” and “Armageddon” director said in a statement. “Known for the caliber of their programming, Investigation Discovery’s expertise in unscripted true crime is second to none, and I can’t wait to expose one of the most twisted crimes of the century.”
