Universal Pictures is going so hard with their marketing of the October 6th release of director David Gordon Green and Blumhouse Productions‘ The Exorcist: Believer, it almost seems like the saying “another day, another Exorcist promo” would be fitting. It makes sense, since Universal and Peacock forked over an amount somewhere in the range of $400 million to acquire the rights to distribute a new trilogy of Exorcist sequels that begins with Believer. Today they’ve unveiled a featurette that’s called “Legacy” and looks to let us know that the filmmakers were seeking to honor the 1973 classic The Exorcist with this new sequel. You can check it out in the embed above.
Green previously directed the recent trilogy of Halloween sequels. He crafted the story for The Exorcist: Believer with Danny McBride (who wrote all three of the new Halloweens with him) and their Halloween Kills co-writer Scott Teems, then...

Director James Gunn had scrapped the old Dceu (DC Extended Universe) to make way for his new Dcu (DC Universe). Since then, he has confirmed that at least three actors from the Dceu will be reprising their roles, namely Xolo Mariduena, Viola Davis, and John Cena as voice actors.
All three are set to reprise their roles in the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’ which will be the first Dcu project.
Taking to his personal Threads account, the ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ director confirmed that Xolo will be coming back as Blue Beetle, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and John Cena as the Peacemaker.
This seven-episode series will be the first outing of the ‘first chapter’ from Gunn and Peter Safran titled ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters’.

Matt Damon helped turn his Bourne series into one of the most successful spy thrillers in cinema history. Years after the trilogy ended, there was one film that reminded him of his Bourne days.
Matt Damon once shared this movie reminded him of being on a ‘Bourne’ film set Matt Damon | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Damon found a link between his Bourne films and his 2015 feature The Martian. The two projects couldn’t have been anymore different, with the latter being a sci-fi feature about a stranded astronaut. But according to Damon, performing in The Martian was very reminiscent of his time on Bourne. They both had sequences where Damon had to perform all by himself.
“The closest thing would probably be the Bourne movies. I end up on my own, usually, in those, at least in the second two. But that was the appeal of this. It was so different...

Director Kevin Greutert says that with Saw X, their goal was to make a new addition to the franchise that felt like the early Saw movies. Greutert provided a sneak peek behind the scenes at the upcoming tenth film of the popular horror franchise in a two-minute “Legacy” featurette released nine days out from the film’s theatrical debut.
Saw franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules described the September 29, 2023 release as being how they envision Saw II, with the action taking place just weeks after the end of the original Saw. Because of that, it was necessary to replicate the look of the original films down to the grittiness and color palette. “We’re working with a cinematographer here [Nick Matthews] who has just done a fabulous job,” says franchise star Tobin Bell.
Joining Bell in Saw X are Shawnee Smith, Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Michael Beach, and Renata Vaca.

Since the Writers Guild of American and Screen Actors Guild are both still on strike, this year's Destination D23 convention down in Orlando, Florida didn't really have much of anything to showcase. Sure, the studio showed some footage from Disney's upcoming animated movie "Wish," and they announced that "Haunted Mansion" would be hitting Disney+ in October. But there was one other announcement that might be intriguing for anyone who is both a Disney fan and a physical media collector.
This fall, the House of Mouse will be releasing the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection, which collects 100 animated films from both Disney and Pixar, reaching as far back as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and up through this summer's "Elemental" from Pixar. All of the movies come in a big three-volume set that unfolds in collectible storybooks. Plenty of fans of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time like to pick Mat Cauthon as their favorite character in the overall story, particularly as the lovable rogue became more and more pivotal as the novels unfolded. That appears to be the same case for Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time series, which premieres its second season on Friday, Sept. 1 (with the first three episodes).
The end of Season 1 left Mat Cauthon (then played by Barney Harris) in a very strange and troubling place: on the run and separated from the rest of the core cast. Since then,...

It’s 2003 and Jay-Z is planning a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his retirement from music.
But his bass player is unavailable. Adam Blackstone, a jack-of-all-trades who plays bass, drums, piano, organ, tuba and sousaphone — and is also a songwriter, producer, composer and everything else under the musical sun — is more than ready to step in.
Twenty years later, Blackstone, now 40, is still working closely with Jay-Z; both are Emmy winners for last year’s hip-hop-heavy Super Bowl halftime show. And the musician who has helped everyone from Rihanna to Justin Timberlake shine is stepping into his own limelight.
Rihanna performed during the Super Bowl Lvii halftime show in February.
After winning an Emmy in 2022 for music direction, Blackstone is nominated again. This time, however, he’s a double nominee. Not only is he competing for his work on Rihanna’s explosive Super Bowl performance (a nom...

The reboot of the DC Extended Universe is in full development with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm. Of course, the end of the ‘Snyderverse’ marked the change of the actors and recasts that had already been announced. Recently, it was reported that Gal Gadot wouldn’t return for the role of Wonder Woman, and most notably, Henry Cavill won’t return as Superman for new projects in the new era of DC Extended Universe.
This was huge news since Cavill was a great Superman and one of the fan favorites, but with a new era on the horizon, new blood will get the chance to portray famous DC characters. ‘Superman: Legacy‘ is the one project everyone is excited about, and it is currently in pre-production, with new actors already being announced.

Jamila Woods is back with “Boomerang,” the second single from her upcoming album Water Made Us. Check out the track below.
“I think you really wanna dance with me,” Woods sings in her new song. With snappy percussion and thumping bass, she’s right: “Boomerang” will make even the most stoic of listeners nod their heads along to its rosy melody.
“I co-wrote this song with Nao, Grades, and George Moore on a sweet London day last year,” the singer said of the track. “It was amazing to work with Nao and meet her longtime collaborators and feel the synergy that they have together. It’s a song about that kind of relationship that keeps popping back up throughout your life, that magnetic attachment you have to someone and the excitement and anxiety that comes with wondering ‘will we or won’t we?'”

Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning took to Instagram to give an update on the long-awaited sequel and express his frustration with the SAG-AFTRA strike, which has delayed the start of the Disney film.
The Norwegian director (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) revealed the production was supposed to begin filming this week and instead had to lay off 150 crew members. Rønning teased the film would have a storyline centered around AI (as have the two previous films, to varying extent). While supporting the goals of the work stoppage, he also urged both sides of the contract dispute to resolve their differences.
“We close deals for breakfast,” Rønning wrote. “Why do we suddenly have all the time in the world when every day is so precious? These tactics are extremely frustrating.”
Here are Rønning’s comments in full:

There's one pressing question on the minds of every Trekkie out there: What do we have to do to convince Paramount to give the "Strange New Worlds" writers 20+ episodes so they can fully wild out and throw every zany concept they have at us for as long as possible? Matt Damon has few regrets — except turning down James Cameron’s 2009 “Avatar,” and he’s now explaining why.
The actor, who plays army general Leslie Groves in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” detailed in a recent Chris Wallace interview why he had to walk away from starring in Cameron’s $2.8-billion-grossing original space epic. Damon previously said that his salary plus backend box office profits on “Avatar” would have netted the actor at least $250 million.
“I’m sure it’s the most money an actor ever turned down, you know?” said Damon, who at the time was under contract to complete the action-espionage “Bourne” series. By the time “Avatar” production ramped up, Damon had completed “The Bourne Identity,” “The Bourne Supremacy,” and was shooting 2007’s “The Bourne Ultimatum,” with “Legacy” and “Jason Bourne” still to come.

Plot: The Lamberts must go deeper into The Further than ever before to put their demons to rest once and for all.
Review: Despite only being five films deep, the Insidious series has been through some interesting times. Most of the takes after the first two films didn’t really work, so the fifth outing sees the Lambert family return. Not only that, but we’ve got lead Patrick Wilson taking a position behind the camera. As someone who has enjoyed but doesn’t love the series, I went into this one with low expectations. It doesn’t help that it seems like every “Legacy” sequel these days has a tinge of disappointment to them. But I’d say that’s actually one of Insidious: The Red Door‘s strengths.
I was very trepidatious going into this film as the second entry ended with the leads having their memories erased.

A new Man of Steel has arrived. After an extensive search for the actor to fill the role of Superman in writer/director James Gunn’s upcoming DC reboot “Superman: Legacy,” 29-year-old American actor David Corenswet has won the coveted role. He’ll star alongside Emmy-winning “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actress Rachel Brosnahan in the new Warner Bros. film, which is slated for release in 2025 and will officially kick off Gunn’s rebooted (and interconnected) DC universe.
Much like the actors who donned the tights before him, Corenswet isn’t a complete unknown but also isn’t (yet) an incredibly recognizable performer. Consider this your primer to get to know the new Man of Steel.

James Gunn has found his Superman and Lois Lane.
After a lengthy search, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in Superman: Legacy, the film that will launch DC’s new universe under writer-director Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss, Peter Safran.
Corenswet and Brosnahan were among six actors who vied for the lead roles, with Gunn filming screen tests over the June 17 weekend with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney also in contention to play Superman/Clark Kent and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor in the running for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
Few roles are as coveted — or come with as much pressure — as Superman. That’s doubly true in the current landscape, as Corenswet will anchor a new universe as DC attempts to reinvent itself after a streak of misses with October’s Black Adam, March’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods and the recent The Flash. Only...

With The Flash not proving to be the box office savior Warner Bros. was anticipating, the pressure on new DC Studios’ heads James Gunn and Peter Safran has increased exponentially.
And that, in turn, means increased weight on Superman: Legacy, the inaugural movie from Gunn and Safran. And it may not get any weightier than casting the right actor to play Clark Kent/Superman and his romantic and professional foil, Lois Lane.
Gunn, who is writing and directing the feature, held screen tests the weekend of June 17 on the Warners lot in Burbank, and the process has been kept in a lead-lined box as Gunn shows the assembled cuts to a deciding committee of executives, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav among them. Despite the secrecy, some details have emerged, even as the final choice has not.

Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series Silo (read our 8/10 review Here) is based on a series of stories written by author Hugh Howey. It started with a short story called Wool, and at one point the plan was to call the Apple TV+ series Wool as well. There’s plenty of Howey stories to continue pulling inspiration from is Silo has a multiple season run: Holston, Proper Gauge, Casting Off, The Stranded, Legacy, Order, Pact, and Dust... with more to come. And it looks like Apple TV+ is interesting in bringing some of those stories to the screen, because Deadline reports they have officially ordered Silo season 2!

If you follow “Star Trek” on Twitter and other social media spaces, you’d think that “Star Trek: Legacy” is a real show, given all the buzz surrounding it. A Change.org petition to have Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Picard” showrunner Terry Matalas helm the proposed spin-off is closing in on 50,000 signatures, which would change it’s status on the site to “top signed.”
But alas, “Legacy” isn’t on the current or future “Trek” slate. And with the current Writers’ Guild strike, it doesn’t look likely in the near future. But never count out the power of the “Star Trek” fandom, which has supported the franchise for nearly six decades, including fallow periods of no television or theatrical production.
Here’s what you need to know about “Legacy” and why “Trek” fans and stars are clamoring for it.

NBCU has officially shifted its “The Real Housewives of New York: Legacy” series to an “Ultimate Girls Trip” format that will stream on Peacock, featuring former Housewives Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer and Kristen Taekman as its cast.
After a low-rated 13th season and an influx of conflict, Variety broke the news that the “Rhony” would be revamping its format in a two-part strategy. First, Andy Cohen revealed that Bravo was focused on rebooting the flagship show with a brand-new cast, and the network would eventually launch a spin-off “Legacy” series that would cast original and former New York Housewives.
However, the network was unable to come to a financial agreement with several of the projected “Legacy” housewives and put the series on pause — which apparently led to a shift in strategy: revamping the series in an “Ultimate Girl Trips” style, not to air on Bravo,...

With “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” now out in theaters and James Gunn’s commitment to Marvel Studios complete, his full attention is now being turned to filling out the cast for his upcoming DC reboot “Superman: Legacy.”
Gunn is now watching audition tapes, and those in the mix for the role of Superman include Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet (“Pearl”), Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”) and Andrew Richardson (“A Call to Spy”), sources tell TheWrap.

Electronic musician and producer Rp Boo was already in his 40s when his debut album, Legacy, dropped in 2013, preceded by more than a decade of singles which helped establish Chicago’s footwork genre. Legacy Volume 2 continues the curation of his output from that period, gathering previously unreleased tracks recorded between 2002 and 2007.
Rather than using digital software, Boo constructs his music entirely with old-fashioned equipment: a Roland drum machine and Akai Mpc sampler. Some of the samples are immediately recognizable: “UnderD-Stat” bites the theme from the ’60s animated TV series Underdog, while “Heavy Heat” uses the same horns, originally taken from Ifukube Akira’s theme from Godzilla vs. Mothra, as Pharoahe Monch’s 1999 classic “Simon Says.”
Central to Boo’s process is his merging of samples in dense and abrasive ways, with individual sounds having an exponential effect. Instead of sticking to a steady rhythm during each track, Boo loops vocal...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Picard."The bulk of the third season of "Star Trek: Picard" was devoted to the mystery of Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), the son of Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). At the beginning of the story, Jack was being hunted by a mysterious bounty hunter named Vadic (Amanda Plummer) who was willing to kill everyone on board the U.S.S. Titan-a in order to get him. While Jack was indeed a criminal, his crimes weren't entirely serious. Mostly, he and his mother merely smuggled medical supplies to planets overlooked by Federation doctrine. Why was Vadic so hellbent on apprehending him?
By the end of the season, it was revealed that Jack had inherited from Picard a curious brain condition that manifested as superhuman powers. He could read thoughts, and he could project his consciousness into the bodies of others.

DC Studios co-chief James Gunn turned in the first draft of “Superman: Legacy” last week, just days before the writers’ strike, TheWrap has exclusively learned.
Gunn is in the midst of casting the Dcu reboot, which is not expected to be affected by the WGA strike since the superhero film is eyeing a Q1 2024 production start. He wrote the script and will direct the film, which will introduce a new Superman to kick off a new era of the DC universe.
Pre-production kicked off last month, with costumes, production design “and more” now “up and running,” according to Gunn, and he’s in the midst of casting as he targets a February 2024 start date.

This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
Todd Stashwick is thirsty.
“I’m gonna go grab a Lacroix,” he tells Den of Geek when we catch up with him over Zoom post-Star Trek: Picard season 3. “Don’t go anywhere! Stay where you are! It’ll be worth the wait if I grab a coconut Lacroix to wet my whistle.”
No doubt we’re just the latest in a long line of outlets waiting to chat with Stashwick now that Picard has wrapped. Everyone wants to know what the actor will be up to after his scene-stealing turn in the show, and whether he’ll return to the Star Trek universe. The latter hangs in the balance because his character, Captain Liam Shaw, is currently super dead, and a new Trek series called Legacy that promises to see him return in an “absolutely amazing” way hasn’t yet been greenlit at the time of writing.

Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard. Consider yourself warned. The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard recently wrapped up and, in my opinion, was an absolutely wonderful finale for the beloved characters of The Next Generation. It also set the stage for another new show, which Picard showrunner Terry Matalas has dubbed Star Trek: Legacy.
