Imagine being sexually assaulted only to be told by the perpetrator that it never happened and that it was all in your imagination. Such an experience will be too much for anyone to handle and that was exactly what happened to “Scandal” actress Kerry Washington.
Already, the star of “Unprisoned” wrote in her memoir “Thicker Than Water” published in September 2023 that she experienced sexual abuse growing up.
On Saturday, April 20, the actress attended the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books Event at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where she was asked by Erica D. Smith to share how such experience helped shape her life.
According to Kerry, that experience was one out of many instances where the truth was withheld from her. Her statement was a reference to a part of her book where she shared that she only found out that her father Earl Washington wasn...

Peacock is opening the Bravo vault and bringing back classic shows beginning Monday, April 15.
Fans of The Real Housewives franchise will have more shows to watch as several spinoffs become available on the streaming service.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been the franchise to produce the most spinoffs, such as when cameras followed Nene Leakes getting married with the I Dream of Nene: The Wedding special. Kandi Burruss also got her special as she tied the knot on TV.
Kim Zolciak left Rhoa, but cameras continued to follow her and her family as she married Kroy Biermann with Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding, which ultimately evolved into Don’t Be Tardy for the next seven seasons.
The Grande Dame of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Karen Huger, also scored a spinoff that followed her family reunion.

Stream Canceled Real Housewives Show
More and more people are cutting the cable cord and watching their shows on streaming services. Bravo shows used to be available to watch on Hulu. But with the creation of the Peacock streaming platform, all NBC shows moved to Peacock. NBC and Bravo are owned by the same company.
So, now Bravoholics can stream new episodes on Peacock the next day for shows like Vanderpump Rules, the Real Housewives franchise, Below Deck, and more.
But Hulu hasn’t gotten completely out of the reality TV genre. They recently debuted Lisa Vanderpump’s new show, Vanderpump Villa.
While current seasons of the Real Housewives are on Peacock already, what about the specials featuring stars from various franchises, such as Rhoa‘s Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes?...

Peacock wants to get nostalgic with some of Bravo’s most famous past titles, including ‘The Rachel Zoe Project,’ ‘Million Dollar Listing’ and more.
The 2023 strikes from Hollywood’s biggest actors and writers’ unions were eminently avoidable, but studios chose to play hardball with union reps and force work stoppages. TV networks and streaming services are just now getting their scripted titles back on screens, but Peacock is pulling a move that might make audiences think the strikes are still going! This month, Peacock will be adding over 15 titles pulled from the pile of unscripted reality shows from Bravo’s past; old fan-favorites like “The Real Housewives of D.C.” and many more are coming to the platform in April.
Newly imported Bravo titles will begin arriving on Peacock on April 15. Sixteen titles have been announced for the rollout, and Peacock pledges that more will be included. Peacock is already home...

The Olitz spark between "Scandal"'s Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn is still going strong years after their TV reign. The duo's recent reunion for Washington's "Thicker Than Water" book tour, which kicked off in September, reminded Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant fans everywhere that these haven't lost their magic one bit. In fact, their undeniable chemistry is just as convincing as it was during "Scandal"'s heyday. So much so that some fans have completely forgotten that the former costars are, indeed, married in real life (and not to each other).
Goldwyn has been with his wife, Jane Musky, since 1987, and they share two daughters. Washington, a mom of three young kids, meanwhile, tied the knot with NFL player-turned-actor Nnamdi Asomugha in 2013. So despite fan speculation, Washington and Goldwyn are just friends.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
Netflix has taken an odd approach to promoting Elite Season 7.
We've had random teasers on social media that haven't given much of the plot away,
Now, three days before its premiere date, we have a full-length promo that teases what's on the horizon.
Off the bat, I'm not interested in going back to Las Encinas.
Bringing Omar Ayuso back made me think that a change of scenery was on the menu.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case.
We see that Omar is still trying to piece together his thoughts about Samuel's death at the end of Elite Season 5.
New cast members for Elite Season 7 include Mirela Balic, Gleb Abrosimov, Nadia Al Saidi, Fernando Líndez, Alejandro Albarracín, Iván Mendes, and Maribel Verdú.
They join Elite Season 6 cast members Valentina Zenere, Andre Lamoglia, Carmen Arrufat, Alex Pastrana, Alvaro de Juana,...

She went from straight-a student to the star of Scandal, but always had a nagging doubt about her place in the world. Then the actor agreed to go on a US genealogy show - and discovered her own story wasn’t quite as it seemed …
That Kerry Washington comes from a seemingly perfect family is something to which I thought I could attest. Four years ago, on an icily grey day in New York City, I met the actor after watching her gut-wrenching performance on Broadway in the play American Son. I sat on a sofa on the vacated stage, in deep conversation with Washington’s parents, Earl and Valerie: she a professor, he a businessman, who had raised their daughter in a hard-working, predominantly black neighbourhood in the Bronx. I remember thinking how good-looking, charming and erudite they seemed. And Washington – gracious and gorgeous in real life – made so much sense as their offspring.

Why Kerry Washington Declined Roles Stereotyping ‘White Girl’s Best Friend’ After Film with Meg Ryan
After acting with Meg Ryan in 2004’s “Against The Ropes,” Kerry Washington explained in her new memoir, “Thicker Than Water,” why she declined to play the “white girl’s best friend” role.

Washington portrayed Renee, Jackie Kallen’s best friend, who was portrayed by Ryan as the first and possibly most successful female boxing manager in history.
In an excerpt shared by Entertainment Weekly, Washington wrote, “In it, I played [Meg Ryan’s] coworker and confidante — this was becoming a new niche for me, the white girl’s best friend.”
In the book, she continued, “When Harry Met Sally” is, to this day, one of my top three movies of all time, so once I’d played Meg Ryan’s best friend, playing the role against anyone else would have been a lateral move.

Kerry Washington explains in her new memoir, “Thicker Than Water,” that she actively rejected playing the “white girl’s best friend” after starring in “Against the Ropes,” the 2004 boxing drama headlined by Meg Ryan and Omar Epps. The film starred Ryan as Jackie Kallen, the first woman to achieve success as a boxing manager. Washington played Jackie’s best friend, a receptionist named Renee.
“In it, I played [Meg Ryan’s] coworker and confidante – this was becoming a new niche for me, the white girl’s best friend,” Washington writes (via Entertainment Weekly).
As Washington remembers, “Against the Ropes” was her third project in a row where she was playing the best friend to the white female lead. First came 2001’s “Save the Last Dance,” in which was Julia Stiles’ Bff, then she shot the scrapped pilot for the 2004 Fox dramedy series “Wonderfalls,” where she was the best friend of Caroline Dhavernas’ main character.

In anticipation of her new memoir, Thicker Than Water, actress Kerry Washington has addressed a new revelation about her parents.
On an appearance on the PBS series Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr., Washington’s parents, Valerie and Earl, told Gates that Earl wasn’t Kerry’s biological father. Her parents, who struggled with fertility, used a sperm donor to help conceive. Gates then encouraged the actress’ mom and dad to tell Kerry the information themselves.
For Washington, the news had “really turned her world upside down.” She said she believes it helped her to love herself, as she thinks her struggles with anxiety, self-esteem and eating disorders were connected to the secret.
“I think that dissonance of like, ‘Somebody is not telling me something about my body,’ made me feel like there was something in my body I had to fix,” Washington said.

By now, you’ve probably heard about the major plot point in Kerry Washington’s new memoir. If not: In 2018, her parents told her that her father is not her biological father; she is the result of her parents’ use of a sperm donor.
It’s the inciting incident for Thicker Than Water, and also for a new chapter of the actress’ life — one that she is still getting used to talking about. Washington doesn’t often name this family secret specifically in conversation, referring to it throughout a long interview as the “information” or “revelation” — it feels less like an aversion and more like a byproduct of the business of protecting a highly anticipated book. (If anyone knows how to gracefully avoid spoilers, it’s the woman who played Olivia Pope.) But Washington, who sat with THR over crudité in West Hollywood a couple weeks ahead of the book’s release,...

Kerry Washington is set to release her memoir, Thicker Than Water, on Tuesday, September 26, in which she touches on her family history and the discovery that she was conceived through a sperm donor. The Scandal star reveals she first learned about her biological past in 2018 with the help of the Henry Louis “Skip” Gates Jr.-hosted PBS series Finding Your Roots. As Washington explained to the New York Times, the revelation came to light after she went to collect DNA spit samples from her parents. She had to tell Gates that her dad was “really uncomfortable” and unlikely to give her the samples. Gates went to speak to the parents privately, which is when they asked if Washington not being their biological child would “come up in the testing.” Gates suggested they have that conversation with their daughter. After her mom and dad finally told her the truth, Washington said...

Kerry Washington says her feelings of “not quite belonging” in her family that she’s had since childhood were a result of a long-hidden secret that she was conceived using a sperm donor.
The actress opened up about the revelation in new interviews with The New York Times and People, tied to the release of her upcoming memoir, Thicker Than Water. Out on Sept. 26, the memoir was initially the suggestion of friend and Scandal boss Shonda Rhimes years ago, with Washington admitting that at the time, she had this “nagging feeling” she “didn’t quite know myself well enough” to pull it off.
Now, Thicker Than Water dives deep on her educational and performance journeys, but also more difficult topics, like her various mental health conditions — depression, an eating disorder and insomnia — as well as the shocking revelation that her father is not her biological parent.

Kerry Washington is getting candid.
The fiercely private “Scandal” star is about to release her new memoir, Thicker Than Water, and in it she opens up about her struggles with an eating disorder.
“Scared me that I could not want to be here because I was in so much pain.”
In an excerpt from the book, aired during an interview with Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America”, Washington recalls that by the time she went to college, her relationship to food and her body had “become a toxic cycle of self-abuse that utilized the tools of starvation, binge eating, body obsession and compulsive exercise.”

Kerry Washington Opens Up About Suffering Horrific Panic Attacks At Age 7: ‘I Couldn’t Make It Stop’
Kerry Washington speaks candidly about suffering from panic attacks at age just 7 in her upcoming memoir Thicker Than Water.
In an excerpt shared by Oprah Daily on Wednesday, the “Scandal” star recalled how she “developed panic attacks at night” after hearing her parents constantly argue.
Washington wrote of the attacks, “They manifested first as a rhythm of anxiety that encircled my brain, then evolved into a rapid pulsing, a whirling frenzy of metallic thumps, like those nauseating old spinning rides at a county fair.
“This was not just a feeling. It was a sound, an internal beat, or series of beats, though they didn’t equate to music. It was the sound of terror, wholly unnatural and unconnected to the rhythms of my heart.
“I was dizzied with terror, no ground beneath me; it was crazy-making, endless. And sad,” she went on. “There was something so sad about the rhythm.

Thicker Than Water (Jusqu’ici tout va bien) is a series directed by Nawell Madani and Simon Jablonka and starring Nawell Madani and Kahina Carina.
A lot of social conflict in this French series that deals (quite a lot) with social conflict and, as a thriller, lets itself get away.
It follows in the wake of French cinema, it is not great technically, but it has many virtues in the development of the characters, which are treated with much respect in a script that respects itself and knows how to get where it wants to go.
Of course, it may be that the place where the script wants to go is not the same place that viewers who want to see a more “pure” thriller would like to see it end up.
