- Linden and Holder now suspect Pastor Mike as the man responsible for the murders. They have no proof however. Kallie's mother is still looking for her and visits the pastor who tells her not to lose hope. She finds a note on her windshield. Bullet and Lyric hook up. Bullet tells Holder that there's no way Pastor Mike is the killer. They get an eyewitness who saw the pastor with Angie Gower and learn Pastor Mike has a secret. At the prison, Seward razzes Becker for missing his shift during the death on cell block. Linden's boyfriend - or former boyfriend - wants to know what she's doing but she tells him it's over.—garykmcd
- Open with Linden and Holder talking to Pastor Mike at the mission. He tells them Angie isn't there. Linden notices most of the kids whose photos are on the wall are girls and asks about kids who came through during the time of the murders. Mike says he is drawn to the kids because nobody else looks out for them. The camera pans back and we see one of the kids' friends, Rayna, eavesdropping in tears.
Twitch returns and finds Bullet and Lyric cuddling in bed. He acts like an a-hole, telling her he's been spending time with a rich older woman getting paid for sex. Lyric and Bullet leave.
Holder tells Linden he thinks Mike's story is a lie, a "coward's refuge." Linden goes home to get some sleep.
At her place Linden is approached by Cody, who wants answers as to why she ended thing so abruptly. Linden essentially tells him to shove off, saying the person he thought she was isn't who she really is and their relationship is over.
Holder finds Bullet and Lyric at a hangout. He takes Bullet aside and asks about Mike. Bullet is adamant that Mike isn't the killer.
Seward calls Becker out for not being present for the shift where Hill died. Seward makes some very specific comments about there being issues with Becker's wife being unfaithful. Becker tells him the gallows are being constructed.
Danette drops by the mission and tells Mike she's convinced Kallie is there. He gives her some insight as to what Kallie was like based on classes she took there. He tells her "she's still out there." When she gets back to her car she finds someone has left a note reading: "He's lying."
Becker confides in Henderson that he is, in fact, dealing with stuff at home with his wife. Becker's son knows his mother is seeing someone else and he's losing face in his child's eyes.
Danette drops by the station and gives Linden the message.
Rayna makes eye contact with Linden and Holder. They bring him to a car and he says he saw Angie late one night while he was out smoking on the roof. Mike showed up and the girl ran off. He chased after her, then returned to the mission an hour later without Angie, covered in blood.
Lyric tells Bullet about some government subsidized apartments Mike told her about. Bullet confesses that she's in love with her. They talk about finding a place to sleep that night because it's supposed to rain. Bullet tells her she'll figure something out.
Linden and Holder tell Skinner about Mike. He gives the okay for looking closely at the pastor but won't go so far as to try and get a search warrant for his car based on a street kid's word.
Bullet begs Mike to let her and Lyric stay at the mission that night. He tells her he'll think of something.
Henderson is in charge of getting Seward's weight so they can fine-tune the gallows. Seward seems to be struggling emotionally with the execution.
While watching Mike, Linden tells Holder about Cody. Holder gets a call that Mike has been using a fake name.
Becker asks Seward about his last meal. Seward blows up and begins throwing the contents of his cell at the bars.
Holder and Linden follow Mike to his place. They notice he's driving a rental and talk to him on the porch. Holder begins to get very aggressive in his questioning. While there they notice the tattoo on his biceps. We see that Lyric is inside, waiting for Bullet to arrive later so they can crash for the night.
It turns out Mike's real name is Mark Elwood. He was charged with kidnapping a 16-year old girl in Arizona six years earlier. She OD'd before trial, but the funding for his mission there dried up and he headed North. Search warrants are issued.
Mike and Lyric have a conversation at the dinner table. He starts talking about knowing what it's like to not feel important and Lyric gets scared.
Holder and Linden lead a team into Mike's place. He and Lyric are gone and he's not at the mission. Linden warns Holder that he's perhaps beginning to take the case too personally.
While waiting at the station Danette speaks with the mother of a girl who has been missing for year.
A new resident on death row talks to Seward about forgiving himself in order to find salvation.
Becker sneaks his son in to see the gallows, seemingly to try and score some points.
Linden and Skinner talk about Seward's case again. He finally admits he believes her that Seward didn't commit the crime. They nearly kiss, but are interrupted by the phone. Mike's car has been found at the train station.
At the station they find the entire back seat of his car covered in blood. The order goes out to place officers at the site of the 12 trains that left in the past hour. Linden gets into her car and sees Mike in the back seat. He places a knife at her throat and tells her to drive.
