Exclusive: Peacock is developing Triggered, a single-camera comedy from the 9Jkl team of writer-producer Dana Klein, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.
Written by Klein, in Triggered, frustrated by her inefficacy, a rule-following therapist starts to break the rules of her profession, and, eventually, the law, and soon becomes a vigilante therapist who helps people… using whatever means necessary.
Klein executive produces with Trilling of TrillTV and Kaplan of Kapital. The series is a co-production between Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and CBS Studios.
Triggered stems from the producer partnership former longtime CBS head of comedy Trilling and her TrillTV have with Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. The first project under that partnership to go to series, multi-camera CBS comedy 9Jkl, was co-created, executive produced and showrun by Klein.

CBS has given a pilot order to We The Jury, a half-hour comedy from 9Jkl co-creator Dana Klein, writer Stephanie Darrow, UK producer Big Talk Productions and CBS Television Studios.
The comedy, originally sold and developed as single-camera, has been picked up to pilot as hybrid. The move is similar to last year’s format-change for comedy The Unicorn, which was developed by CBS/CBS Studios as a single-camera but picked up to pilot as a multi-camera. The pilot was converted back to single-camera before it was shot.
Written by Klein and Darrow, in We The Jury, a group of jurors are sequestered together until they all agree on a verdict….and they can’t even agree on lunch.
We the Jury was based on a British format of the same name, created by stand-up comedian James Acaster. It was piloted on BBC Two in the UK in 2016 as part...

Here’s the short and sweet logline for the project: “A group of jurors are sequestered together until they all agree on a verdict….and they can’t even agree on lunch.”
“We The Jury” also has some involvement from across the pond, with Big Talk Productions CEO Kenton Allen and managing director Matthew Justice on board as executive producers. The final Ep listed on the project is James Acaster, a rising star on the British comedy scene whose “Repertoire” series of stand-up specials graced Netflix in 2018.

Sought-after multi-camera episodic director Victor Gonzalez has made an exclusive development arrangement with Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Under the pact, Gonzalez via his Fortaleza Productions and Kapital’s Kaplan and Dana Honor will focus on content for the underserved Latino market, developing Latino-based multi-camera comedy series for broadcast, cable and streaming.
Gonzalez and Kaplan met more than five years ago when Gonzalez directed multiple episodes of two of Kaplan’s first series as a producer, Instant Mom and Wendell & Vinnie for Nick at Nite. On the new Viceland series What Would Diplo Do?, James Van Der Beek takes on his most unexpected role yet: the Grammy-winning DJ and record producer behind M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” and “Where Are U Now” with Skrillex and Justin Bieber among other international hit songs.
But it should come as no surprise the actor would defy the expectations of audiences who grew up with him on Dawson’s Creek. Van Der Beek has taken on darker roles like The Rules of Attraction and playing a fictionalized version of himself on the short-lived Don’t Trust the B--- in Apartment 23. 2014 was a great year for television. Popular series such as NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, and Scandal continued to dominate in the ratings and were all ranked in the top twenty of the most watched shows of the fall season. Even new TV shows like Madame Secretary, NCIS: New Orleans, and How to Get Away with Murder are highly watched programs. 2014 was also the year we had to say good-bye to some of our favorite television programs. A total of 136 TV shows bit the dust last year, which is a whole lot of programming. Most of them like Friends with Better Lives and Bad Teacher could not survive one season before venturing out of our lives to never be watched again. Here is a list of 12 TV shows that ended sometime in 2014, all of them very different. One is a show about vampires, one about taking care of a young child,...

CBS continues to look for new hit sitcoms. Last year's The Crazy Ones, Bad Teacher, We Are Men, and Friends With Better Lives were all cancelled while Mom and The Millers survived. How will The McCarthys stack up in the ratings? Will it be cancelled too or renewed for a second season? We'll have to wait and see.
The McCarthys revolves around sports-crazed family from Boston. Athletically-challenged and gay son Ronny (Tyler Ritter) plans to finally move away to start his own life. Those plans are thrown into turmoil when his basketball coach dad (Jack McGee) offers him a job as assistant coach -- much to the dismay of Ronny's siblings. The sitcom also stars Laurie Metcalf, Jimmy Dunn, Joey McIntyre, and Kelen Coleman.

After the Dawson's Creek alum's (extremely) short-lived CBS half-hour comedy Friends With Better Lives and his super meta stint playing himself on ABC's comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, he's going back to his roots for the new spinoff series, and we seriously couldn't be happier. While we loved laughing along with him (and sometimes at him) on comedies, there's nothing better than a dramatic Van Der Beek. Are we right, or are we right? Yeah, we know we're right. It looks like the short run of Friends with Better Lives just got even shorter. CBS has decided to pull the already cancelled comedy from their schedule effective immediately.
Friends with Better Lives follows the lives of six young people who are at various stages of their lives -- married, divorced, newly engaged, and single -- with each wondering if the others have it better. The cast includes Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald, Zoe Lister-Jones, and James Van Der Beek.
The network cancelled the show after five episodes had aired but it seemed like they planned to let all 13 installments run. Execs have now replaced future airings with reruns of Mom, a freshman sitcom that's been renewed for a second season.
