I think overall this show has been solid, but this was an episode that kind of insisted upon itself, as Peter Griffin once said. They are trying too hard to drive home this long and arduous journey that Bass Reeves has been on, but we really have not seen him in that much trouble: it seems like everyone else he has encountered has had the bulk of the issues.
Looking forward to seeing how it all wraps up, but I feel like the show maybe would have been best as a four episode run, but I guess there is not a lot of money in that so we should have known that would not be what Paramount+ wanted from it.
