I'm glad they were new clips

Warning: Spoilers
So this episode features Rick, Morty and their families being confronted by an Observer, a giant space rock that shows clips of their previous adventures. Obviously, it's a parody of the clip show. Most clip show parodies show some real scenes with some made up clips. This one was great, because it was entirely new footage each time. The Observer got killed and Rick and Morty actually get in trouble for it. I really wasn't expecting that to happen.

Hey, they show a clip from the new intro! It's the dead hand rising from the grave! It turns out to belong to Benjamin Franklin. The funniest part was when they showed that they killed the versions of themselves that had cameos in "Space Jam: A New Legacy". Wouldn't it be awesome if they referenced the pony versions of them in the "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" episode "Grannies Gone Wild"? This one was different than most clip show parodies and I appreciated it for that. ***1/2.

Classic R&M, and I am not sick of that

Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode aired after last week's amazing super canon episode. And it is tough to do this after such an episode in the middle of the season. The idea of this type of episode comes from Dan Harmon himself, in which there are flashbacks or "short clips". You can see that he did that on several episodes of "Community" and also R&M from previous seasons: Morty's Mind Blower, Total Rickal and the Train episodes. And I have to say, I really like them all. It is fun to see these short stories and clips which also give the writers a space to be creative. The flashback to the Meeseks episode was also nice, a thing that we observed to happen before, unlike other flashbacks.

Overall, after a "not good as expected" start of the season, these few recent episodes made me hopeful that the show is still alive, even though not all episodes are great. I can compare this season with season 5, where there were really great episodes and then also a few bad ones. Unlike season 6 which the quality of episodes was close, not bad, not so great.

we're back, baby!

This episode was such a relief. I'm always on tenterhooks, expecting this to be the season when Rick & Morty loses it for good. Maybe what's happened to Futurama has given me animated-sci-fi-series PTSD. But there were a few really good episodes this season and now we have a real winner.

I howled like a demon through most of it. The absurd "Guardian of Forever" sentient geode. The 17 different lunatic episode concepts delivered rapid-fire. Classic stuff.

It's okay if future seasons mean we suffer through How Poopy Got his Poop Back and Air Force Wong, as long as they are still capable of knocking it out of the park on occasion.

Have to agree: Best episode in quite a while.

I can't for the life of me remember who does the voice of the Observer but you will recognize the voice actor for certain. You might want to record this episode because the Observer, in particular, has some of the funniest one liners in years on Rick & Morty and you'll probably miss some of them the first time through. This episode had me laughing out loud even after watching several times now. It's the funniest episode in a couple of years at least and makes up for some of the other episodes fans have had to trudge through the last couple of seasons. I hope IMDB gets the rest of the info to fill in the voice cast so I can figure out who the Observer voice is because it's driving me nuts. Also, keep an ear out for Matcluck's voice from Maurice LaMarche.

Best Episode In Years
grcbwils20 November 2023
I was so worried with how this season was gonna go after the first 3 episodes but I am so happy I stuck around. This season has already exceeded my expectations with the last two episodes alone. This episode has everything you want in Rick and Morty. Something that starts out so simple between Rick and Morty turns into mayhem. It was like morty's mind blowers but on steroids. The rest of the family chimed in for a bit during the episode and it fit perfectly to the story. So many parts of this episode made laugh hysterically. The pet cemetery, churro, and gun bits were priceless! As i said in the headline, this is the best Rick and Morty episode I have seen in years!

The season just got stocks soo high on my charts !

The true feeling is back, plot was amazing, refreshingly and easy to digest as a fruit.

I think we will see references in the future from this episode, at least I somehow hope so, because the link will be instant.

Some important points :
  • You can somehow watch this episode without needing to know the plot of the season, or if you watching times to times or you just see random episodes at other people house ! - and is still funny (not perfectly technical)
  • The episode is somehow self-explanatory and I like that very much.

The aftercredit could be somehow more complex, It was good but I somehow expected mayber a little more ?!

Warning: Spoilers
This season seems to have reached some consistency in these past few episodes. Hopefully it stays that consistent.

Either way, been a pretty good watch overall so far. We have yet another episode that focuses on flashbacks, callbacks and the past, which had me sort of worried, but yet again, it's really entertaining and hilarious. I'm not sure why episodes like this and Morty's Mindblowers work as well as they do, but I'm not complaining at all.

This one had plenty of laughs, and just about every one of the Smiths got some really good jokes or one-liners. The all-seeing rocks was an interesting concept that ended up being surprisingly clever and funny. And I thought just about all of the flashbacks/sketches were great.
