This was another of those GAF movies that remind us they are not even with Hallmark quite yet.

Wedding planning and the assorted catastrophes is not a new subject, and this was just another one.

The plot itself wasn't so bad: a newly engaged couple decides to marry in two weeks in order to allow the bride to have her dream wedding before the facility is demolished to build condos.

Work and planning issues get in the way of the pair spending time together, and nerves become frayed.

Holly Devaux and Drew Seeley are ok as the couple, but again, the acting seems like...acting Brigitte Kingsley (who also produced) is back in a supporting role, substantially more covered up than last year (see The Art of Christmas), but she still has a scene or two, if you catch my drift.

I record these movies to zap through the commercials, and it seemed like it took forever to get to the end of this.

Not awful, but not my favorite.

Wedding planning story with stiff acting
Jackbv12311 November 2023
The story is basically planning a wedding for Christmas on short notice and things like work get in the way.

The acting seems just like acting, not smooth and natural. Just a tiny bit off.

I am not a fan of wedding planning movies. I suppose if you like them, this movie is OK. But the story is fairly mundane and the dialogue is flat.

The only romance is the two getting married, so there is no relationship development. In fact, like many wedding planning movies, there is relationship devolvement for a while. Everything starts out roses but the couple encounters situations that lead to resentment. As expected, they both start to question the wedding.

Pretty much all the supporting characters are upbeat even in difficult situations. The head boss, instead of being scroogy, is accepting and encouraging even with a looming deadline and then later after a failed presentation. He is demanding but doesn't criticize. These movies always struggle with realism, but the people are a little too Polyanna.

There is a bit of real wisdom during a conversation between the guys while driving late in the movie. People expect perfection on wedding day maybe a little too much.

This movie is family friendly although it probably won't appeal much to children.

Terrible acting

I love Great American Family and the fact that they are offering wholesome shows and an alternative to Hallmark; however, the acting is terrible in this movie. I wanted to like it, but it was so bad that it was almost unwatchable. The storyline is wonky and very unrealistic. I feel like the movie could have been good with a few tweaks to the plot and the actors lines, but this was just really hard to finish. I felt like the two main characters did have some chemistry, but they just didn't know how to play off of GAC has had some other great movies this year, but this just isn't one of them!!!!

Yuck

Do not waste any time on this movie - there is no tension and some unnecessary problems are resolved - but nothing of any interest to keep watching. This is a sequel to My Boss' Wedding so I am not going to find that movie.

After the first 40 minutes, my wife asked me, if I want, to stop watching and find a decent Christmas movie - and I agreed immediately!

Holly Deveaux is lovely but she could not carry the movie by herself. The setting for the wedding is wonderful but there is nothing of interest as you hardly see any of it.

Why do I have to use 600 words for this review???? It deserves 100 at the most.

Cute Sequel to My Boss' Wedding

I enjoyed this movie. Drew and Holly are fast becoming an iconic "movie" couple. They have awesome chemistry whenever they are cast side by side. I liked the way the story starts and unfolds. It is not what I expected and that is a good thing. This movie is a continuation of "My Boss' Wedding" I recommend watching that before watching this movie so you can understand the Character development. The music, the sets, the makeup, the wardrobe are all well-done. The supporting cast do a wonderful job also. This is a lighthearted movie that has it's serious teaching moments. It is clean and smut free which is another huge plus.
