At the Golden Globes 2023, Eddie Murphy stated that it was very very hard for him filming the movie at the age of 61 compared to him being 21 when he filmed the first Beverly Hills Cop.
On November 14, 2019, Deadline announced that Netflix had acquired the rights to produce the film. Jerry Bruckheimer is set to produce and Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Axel Foley.
