Bob Newhart made a welcome return appearance in "The Photon Displacement" ep of "The Big Bang Theory"

In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Leonard, Sheldon, and Amy are at the drug store where they bump into Professor Photon a.k.a. Arthur Jeffries (Bob Newhart in a welcome return guest appearance). Of course, it's Sheldon who bothers him thinking they're now good friends. Dr. Jeffries later e-mails Leonard about helping him on a project which bothers Sheldon. Meanwhile, Amy, Bernadette, and Penny are hanging with Raj making jewelry when Howard stops by and offers help. I'll stop there and just say this was another funny ep of "The Big Bang Theory" with another good performance by Newhart and an amusing cameo by Bill Nye, the Science Guy. So on that note, "The Photon Displacement" is another good enough ep of "The Big Bang Theory".

Touching

When professor proton asks Leonard about how could he it be friends with Sheldon??? Leonard tells him that Sheldon's is 'broken' but speaks of his good qualities and how they need each other. This is a rare touching explanation from Leonard as to why he puts up with Sheldon. Bob Newhart is a comedy legend. Hard to believe that it took all the way to the big bang theory for Bob Newhart to win his first emmy. The downside of the episode was the subplot with the other characters which boring. Raj who is a good character but probably the least funniest out of the bunch was really annoying in this episode with more whining than his usual. However, Professor Proton, Leonard and Sheldon more than made up for it. Solid 8!

Bob Newhart returns as Professor Proton. Sheldon harasses him at the drug store where he is getting a prescription. But his relentless annoying of the man is a bit hard to take--even for the viewers. He asks Leonard to read a paper he has written and Sheldon gets angry. There is s subplot with Howard and Raj and it is really dull.

Can't say the Best...

Something is really, really bothering me. Something that has to do with Sheldons' absolutely forced lines, Leonards' absolutely predictable style, Rajs' nagging and Howards' off his rank jokes. Basing the show on more 'family like' stories, the writers are starting to lose their perfectly balanced humor of the previous seasons. For me, the pilot was the last great thing the show made. From that point it all seems too necessary. I'm not saying I didn't laugh at this one. But I'm pretty sure most of the times it was because of the audience laughing with no reason. P.S. Once again, great cameo by Bob Newhart. Without him, rating would be 3.
