Even though we were promised no major crossover miniseries for at least 18 months after the conclusion of Secret Empire, that doesn’t mean there won’t be other storylines that’ll shake the Marvel Universe to its core. In fact, the House of Ideas fully intends on starting 2018 with a bang, thanks in no small part to Avengers: No Surrender.
Now, if this seems confusing to you at all, know that the difference between No Surrender and something like, say, Civil War II or Secret Wars is that this particular arc won’t be told throughout the course of a limited series. Instead, it’ll be told in the pages of Avengers, and will also include the Uncanny Avengers and U.S.Avengers.
From that, you were probably able to deduce that those three unique teams – along with Voyager, “the greatest Avenger you’ve never heard of” – will be joining...

In a revealing exchange during a Thor: Ragnarok press junket, Tessa Thompson – who stars in the film as superhero Valkyrie – reportedly detailed the moment she pitched an all-female Marvel movie to producer Kevin Feige.
Apparently, Feige was impressed by Thompson’s extensive knowledge of the Marvel Comics source material – particularly when she cited team titles such as Lady Liberators as potential movie projects. But, it’s the response he gave that perhaps speaks the loudest volumes.
“[It’s intimidating to be] tapped on the shoulder and turn around to find a gang of the McU’s female powerhouses, all standing and waiting to hear what you have to say.”
First of all, let’s be honest. As the McU currently stands, the “gang of the McU’s female powerhouses” to which Feige refers can only include Valkyrie, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch and Hope Van Dyne. At a push, it might also include Sharon Carter, and perhaps,...

Oh, Hulk. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Er, rather always the co-star, never the star. We had hopes that someday Mark Ruffalo would get a solo Hulk movie in the McU, but apparently, that's just not in the cards according to Ruffalo.
Hulk is many a people's favorite Marvel character, so it breaks a lot of hearts to have to hear that he'll never get his own movie. He will still appear as a side character in movies like Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok, but if you are looking forward to a solo movie, it won't happen. While talking to Variety, Ruffalo states why we'll never see it.
"I want to just make one thing perfectly clear today: A standalone 'Hulk' movie will never happen. Universal has the rights, and for some reason, they don't know how to play well with Marvel. And, they don't want to make money.

James Gunn has proven to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most valuable players. He’s become the go-to guy for all things cosmic, and his third Guardians of the Galaxy movie will set up the next ten years of Marvel Studios movies. That’s a lot of power for someone who was directing little-seen films like […]

Director James Gunn has done a hell of a great job with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Before he decided to take on those misfit heroic characters, there were two other great characters in the Marvel Universe that Gunn wanted to play with on the big screen. During another one of his Facebook Q&A sessions, one fan asked him if there was a superhero movie he really wanted to make before he started working on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. This was his reply:
"I wanted to do Hit Monkey. Like Really wanted to do it. I was also interested in doing a Hulk/Red Hulk film."
I would have loved to see Gunn bring both of these characters to the big screen! I'd love to see what he would do with them! I can't help but think both of these would turn out to be completely...

Deadpool 2 hasn't even started shooting yet, but they are already focused on casting the next film. Fox really has a lot riding on the Deadpool franchise right now. With Wolverine officially retired, and X-Men: Apocalypse not quite living up to expectations, Fox has already started working on their X-Force film, which will be coming after Deadpool 2.
According to ComicBook, Fox is looking for three different actors to play iconic X-Force characters. The roles are for Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar. The first two have easy enough story lines, while the third... well, let's just talk about these characters.
Sunspot is the first character they are looking to introduce into the post credit scene for Deadpool 2. He's the one with the red sunglasses, but you'll usually see him as a dark silhouette with fire around him. His real name is Robert DaCosta. He is a Brazilian Mutant with the...

Comic Books 101: Marvel Characters That Need To Be On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. !
I’ve said time and time again that despite its merits the biggest flaws in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show has been its lack of fully developing characters from the Marvel Comic Book Universe. The show (which spiraled out from The Avengers movie) is ripe to explore and showcase some of the best characters that might just not be ready or capable of making an impact on the big screen. While some characters have found a way to appear (Deathlock, Daisy Rumble Johnson, Absorbing Man, and recently Ghost Rider) a great majority of villains have either been created specifically for the show (and suddenly now appearing in the comics) or have just been throw away characters that have very little to zero ties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Comic Book Universe.

You have to admire what Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution is doing right now. Not only is it paying homage to the film Captain America: Civil War, but also somewhat echoes recent comic book arcs such as Civil War II, in addition to carving its own path.
When the action-packed animated series returns tomorrow with four all-new episodes set to air consecutively, viewers are in for what is quite essentially a feature length experience when the usual Avengers we know and love – namely Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow and Falcon – must do battle with a strapping new team in the Mighty Avengers.
Their roster includes the likes of Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Vision, Songbird and Red Hulk, an eclectic lineup, to say the least. Several of those characters have been on the rise as of late, whether it be due to a cinematic...

Comic Book Reviews: Marvel Comic Book Round Up New Comic Series!
With 2016 starting off strong for Marvel, the company soon seemed to lose its way as it headed into the summer season with company wide crossover, Civil War II. Suddenly books which had previously been doing well, started to dip as they were roped into the major event that was not getting the best of reviews. Characters were suddenly being written completely different from how they were previously acting with little to no explanation; story content was dropped or pushed to the side to make way for the Civil War II connections. All of this, and DC had just launched its Rebirth line up. While DC was learning from their New 52 mistakes, and attempting to bring their characters back to a more recognizable state, Marvel was putting all their eggs into Brian Michael Bendis Civil War II basket. The result?...

Today saw the release of U.S.Avengers #1, a comic book which revealed the identity of the brand new Red Hulk. However, retailers got a surprise when another variant cover was shipped out to them unexpectedly. Unfortunately, it won’t be easy to find, as they only received one for every 50+ state exclusive covers they ordered.
Illustrated by Phil Noto, the cover doesn’t feature characters from the series itself but instead focuses on the three most iconic members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. We’re obviously referring to Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, and this “trinity” is arguably a big part of what makes the team so memorable. It’s just a shame that, as of right now, Captain America is evil, Iron Man is on life support and the God of Thunder has been deemed Unworthy. At this rate, who knows when we’ll see them back together,...

With Us Avengers finally making its debut this week, it comes as no surprise that such an ambitious new title would make changes to the Marvel status quo. One that we can’t help but to discuss is the introduction of a new Red Hulk.
That’s right. Not only has Jennifer Walters stepped up to claim the proper Hulk mantle as of late, but there’s a new brute of the red variety in town. We’re all familiar with superhero teams such as the Avengers, Justice League, X-Men and Teen Titans, but some of the coolest moments to come by in the comic book medium happen to be when those other than the usual suspects join forces. Such looks to be the case with the brand new series Us Avengers.
Boasting an eclectic lineup of Squirrel Girl, Red Hulk, Pod, Cannonball, Golden Skull, Iron Patriot and a very different Captain America, this new title brought to us by the creative team of writer Al Ewing and artist Paco Medina looks to deliver something that True Believers who stray from the beaten path will enjoy immensely.

Early in the development of Captain America: Civil War, a rumor surfaced that Red Hulk would be in the movie. Turns out that rumor wasn't very far off because the Russo Bros. actually did consider including him in the story.
William Hurt reprised his role of General Thunderbolt Ross in the film, and there was a chance that we would have seen him transform into the Red Hulk! During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Joe Russo explains:
"We had so many characters in that movie as it was. We consider everything, obviously, but with so many characters in that movie as it was to try and entertain adding another character and to get to the Red Hulk, you have to add a back story. You have to substantiate the narrative to get to that. [Thaddeus Ross], on our list of priorities, he was there sort of as the government's agenda and...

Captain America: Civil War was a massive movie with a lot going on in it. With the introduction of several new characters alongside a whole handful of returning faces, there was more than enough to sink our teeth into. However, that doesn’t mean that directors Joe and Anthony Russo didn’t have a few ideas that they had to leave on the drawing board.
Doing the press rounds recently to promote their film’s upcoming Blu-ray release, the Russos revealed that both Iron Spider and Red Hulk almost featured in Civil War. Speaking about the latter, they noted that the character was considered, but there was just too much going on for him to be included.

During the Sony Hack, we learned that one of the possible plans for the wall-crawler's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut would be for him to appear in the Iron Spider costume he wore in the Civil War comic book. That would have obviously helped this new take on the character stand out from previous iterations, but while he received some tech upgrades in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man obviously ended up looking pretty much like he was torn straight out of the pages of the comics. Asked in a recent interview about its possible inclusion, Joe Russo said: "That falls in that category of anything's possible. We consider everything." However, far more interesting than that is the filmmaker's comments about the Red Hulk. It sounds like they came very close to including that version of the character - who was rumoured to appear when William Hurt was confirmed to return. "We...

Another month, another raft of Civil War rumours, theories, leaks and suspiciously made-up sounding “facts” about the most hyped superhero movie of 2016. Sorry DC fanboys, it’s just the case.
With the May release date steadily advancing, merch-makers like Lego and Funk have started unveiling their tie-ins to the film, which as ever spells disaster for Marvel’s attempts to keep everything locked down. The toy companies might have a creative licence to do whatever they please with the merch, but such is the pulling power of fans reliving actual sequences from the film that they more often than not sneak in real details that are then game for further theorising and rumour-spinning.
That’s very much a case for the first Civil War rumour column of 2016. And long may it continue.
Obviously there is going to be some heavy spoiler discussion in here alongside more outlandish speculation, so...

When Marvel Studios announced that it was making room in Phase 3 for Ant-Man and The Wasp, I thought fans of Evangeline Lilly's character in Ant-Man would be happy (especially considering that film's post-credits scene), but another thought struck me: what about Black Widow? Kevin Feige and company have announced a Captain Marvel movie for 2019, but what about a solo film for Scarlett Johansson that fans have actually spent years clamoring for already? Johansson's star power is at an all-time high, the desire is there, a completed draft of a script is reportedly sitting in a vault somewhere in Marvel's offices...it sort of seems like a no-brainer, right?
I'm obviously not the only one who thinks that, but now we can add Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo to that list. In the same international press tour that yielded discussion about General...

I hate when my dreams are crushed. For once in my life, I wish a director of a big-budget film would just see how passionate I feel about their film, and play along with me feelings. But no, it seems that'll never happen, as a recent interview that Joe Russo had has gone ahead and crushed my little black heart yet again. With the character 'General Ross' being involved in the plot of "Civil War," many people, myself included, assumed that he may be in the film and also turn into his alter-persona as The Red Hulk. But guess what? That ain't happenin'. Joe Russo debunked those claims with a quickness, making me feel (yet again) like a little part of me died inside.
“There’s always a chance at Marvel that you can see anything. But there, uh, let's say ... there is no Red Hulk in ‘Civil War.'...

Filmmaker Joe Russo has spoken a bit more about Tom Holland's Spider-Man who makes his first appearance in "Captain America: Civil War". The main aim with this take on the character seems to be accentuating his authenticity and youth. He tells ComicBook.com:
"We took a very personal approach to the character. We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility.
That really differentiates him from every other character in the Marvel universe as opposed to other superheroes. The previous films had adults playing a high schooler. We wanted more of an authenticity to the casting. We were very specific about that."

I think it’s great that the Russo Bros. brought back William Hurt to reprise his role of General “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Civil War. He will have a significant role in the film, but don’t expect him to Hulk out anytime soon.
It was previously rumored that General Ross would transform into the Red Hulk in the movie, which is what happens in the comics. But the directors killed that rumor while talking about the character during an international press tour interview. When asked about Ross’ role in the story, Anthony Russo said:
"General Ross is a big presence in Civil War. He's a character who was ham-fisted in his approach in The Incredible Hulk. I think that's a polite way to put it. And I think he's learned from his over-aggressiveness in that movie and he's become more of a politicaian. He's much savvier now, and he's cornering the Avengers.

It seems like directors Anthony and Joe Russo have lately been talking up a storm in anticipation of Captain America: Civil War and its forthcoming summer release date. And fortunately for us, that marvel-ous chatter won’t be ending anytime soon, or at least not today, as yet another lengthy interview with the filmmaking duo has surfaced with more intriguing details about the threequel. During this video interview, which appears to have taken place a couple weeks ago while the Russos were promoting their new film studio in China, the siblings discuss the Winter Soldier’s importance to Civil War and Captain America’s journey, as well as General Ross’ return and whether he’ll become the Red Hulk, and also the presence of Hydra and a relationship Spider-Man develops. “Hydra isn't central to the third movie as it has been in the past, like in The Winter Soldier, but...

Totally Awesome Hulk #1

Comic book reviewers these days can be so fickle. There’s one review on a comic site regarding this week’s Totally Awesome Hulk where the reviewer can’t seem to make his mind up about Bruce Banner. Despite identifying with Bruce Banner, he goes on saying, “I don’t think he’s needed in the Marvel Universe anymore” and then adds “Kids will always want to be the Hulk, but no kid has ever wanted to be Bruce Banner because of his anger issues.” This review was patronising, and of course it was a slap in the face of Hulk fans, especially one who commented on a forum “Kids are scared of Hulk Because of Banner. And that no kid ever wanted to be Banner; sorry, some of us did!

For the second time since it was first announced, the slate for Marvel’s Phase 3 has been revamped. First Spider-Man was slotted into 2017, and now Ant-Man And The Wasp will land almost exactly a year later, pushing Black Panther and Captain Marvel out of their initial slots.
That sequel is one thing (and a very exciting one in itself), but even more intriguingly, Marvel also teased plans for three more mysteriously unnamed films to be released in 2020. Whether they’re officially part of Phase 3 (boosting the number of films to 14) or the start of Phase 4 remains to be seen, but either way, speculation has already kicked off over what plans Marvel have for new movies.
Inevitably, there will be some pretty loud clamour for Marvel to focus on more original movie adaptations rather than simply trotting out three sequels, but the reality is that they will likely do something of both.

The most exciting thing about a new Marvel movie being released isn’t the movie itself; it’s the press tour that the actors – and more specifically Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige – embark on a few weeks before it reaches the big screen. Ant-Man, the studio’s latest venture is no different, with the Us press tour resulting in some fascinating (and spoilery) Marvel movie details being revealed.
It’s almost as if Feige uses these press junkets as a chance to also promote Marvel’s upcoming releases.
That’s good news for fans, especially as new details about the future of the Ant-Man franchise, Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man have all been revealed. From major plot details to simple hints and teases about what’s to come, Feige has been generating headlines all week, creating buzz for Ant-Man and Phase 3. Here, you will...

In yet another lengthy Ant-Man press junket interview, this time with Io9, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige touches more on next year's Captain America: Civil War, as well as 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, and the recently-titled Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. When asked about the rumors that the Incredible Hulk (or Red Hulk) will be appearing in Civil War, Kevin Feige teased that the Jade Giant is "not a primary part of Civil War" and that "he may not be a part at all." Furthermore, Kevin Feige explained how the 2016 superhero ensemble flick will include so many characters while still being considered a Captain America movie. "Certainly at the end of Civil War it’s a whole new ball game," Feige began. "What’s fun about Civil War though is, as you know from the comics, it’s a very simple story. And it really has to be,...

So as we get more and more into Secret Wars Marvel is showing us all the characters that are making it out into the new universe. Now I already talked about Miles Morales getting his own title as Spider-Man but since then I’ve gotten emails about five other books debuting this fall.
Doctor Strange #1 brings back Stephen Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme facing off against new deadlier threats and realizing to be up to the task his tactics need to change. One change, he's getting a big axe. Also that ax looks very familiar maybe it’ll be related to Bloodaxe or Ares. But anyway I’ve always liked the character and with the title will be helmed by Jason Aaron on writing duties and Chris Bachalo on the writing.
Spider-Gwen #1 is bringing back the wildly popular character that has sparked more cosplays than I’ve ever seen. Seriously it’s an awesome costume.

Ever since William Hurt's return as Thaddeus Ross was announced for Captain America: Civil War, fans have wondered what exactly the general’s role will be in the 2016 blockbuster. Earlier this month, it was reported that Ross would turn into Red Hulk. Although that rumor has yet to be confirmed, Hurt already has something to say on the matter. While plugging his new AMC series, Humans, The Wall Street Journal asked Hurt whether we would see Ross following in the footsteps of his comic book counterpart and turn big and red. Pointing out that the McU Ross is not the same as the "graphic novel" version, Hurt responded: I don't know, I wouldn't mind feeling like I had that much power. But I created Thaddeus originally as an ego the same size as the monsters. With the same degree of ...

As soon as it was revealed that the third Captain America film would follow the beloved “Civil War” storyline, everyone understood the incredible magnitude of the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed tentpole. Civil War is essentially an Avengers-sized event, complete with dozens of familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and the entire Avengers lineup formed at the end of Age of Ultron. Even more surprising was another announcement: that William Hurt would be reprising the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, last seen in The Incredible Hulk (not really considered canon in the McU given Edward Norton’s quick ouster from the title role).
Nevertheless, Hurt is getting back into uniform to play Ross, who will again be on the trail of the Hulk as the Civil War heats up – though the actor has told IGN that fans can expect to see a very...

When William Hurt spoke with The Wall Street Journal, the Academy Award-winning actor was asked about reprising his Incredible Hulk role as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in next year's Captain America: Civil War. More specifically, he was asked about rumors that we'll see his character become the Red Hulk. "It's very very different from [The Incredible Hulk], and the style is completely modernized," Hurt said of the character's return. "So, I'm not playing the graphic novel version of Thaddius Ross. I'm playing... a better suit." When asked about the Red Hulk, William Hurt grinned saying, "I don't know, I wouldn't mind feeling like I had that much power." He continued, "but I created Thaddeus originally as an ego the same size as the monsters. With the same degree of messed up-ness. Yeah, I'd love to have a shot at it(?)." What do you think? As photos from the set of "Captain America: Civil War" have slowed to none this week with production having likely moved onto the sound stages at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, a new rumor has surfaced over at McU Exchange which deals with one of the surprise returnees for the upcoming film.
Potential Spoilers Ahead
Last month came word that not only is Paul Rudd showing up in his "Ant-Man" garb in the film, but William Hurt would be reprising his role from 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.
Now, the new report suggests that we will see General Ross transform into the Red Hulk in the movie, and he will engage in a battle with the current Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in a fight scene that is said to be akin to the recent Hulk vs. Iron Man Hulkbuster scene from "Avengers: Age of Ultron".

Take this one with a grain of salt, but a new rumor states that not only will William Hurt be reprising his role as General Thunderbolt Ross from 2008's Incredible Hulk but he'll also be transofrmin into Red Hulk. Additionally, the rumor states that Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is indeed involved in Civil War and that there will be an epic throwdown between Hulk and Red Hulk that will rival the Avengers: Age of Ultron battle between Hulk and Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor. With such an extensive list of Marvel characters still awaiting there McU debut did you think Red Hulk would be introduced so soon? That is, if this rumor proves true. Again, we're cautioning a heavy dose of skepticism on this report until there's more information from additional sources. Until then, speculate away in the comments below.

As he prepares to launch his new site, former Latino Review scooper El Mayimbe has shared another awesome piece of promo art from the Captain America threequel. This time we get a better look at the new "Bleeding Edge" armor Tony Stark will sport in his battles with the Sentinel of Liberty. In the comics, this armor was used to take down the likes of Thor and Red Hulk, and its power levels have been likened to that of a "man made star". It's actually made up of Nano-Machines that Stark mentally controls; but it remains to be seen if the movie will follow suit in that regard. Villains beware because some of Marvel's strongest superheroes -- Hulk, She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Red Hulk and Skaar -- are banding together. The members of the group, Agents of S.M.A.S.H., are setting out to prove that they are not monsters but rather Hulk-sized heroes. The heroes live together, so in addition to tackling worldwide threats, such as trying to prevent another planet from crashing into Earth, they also must deal with normal family problems like trying to housebreak a pet -- although most families don't have a giant red T-Rex as a pet.
