Fantastic non-traditional werewolf film!
amyism28 September 2014
This is a really great, funny film that follows the journey of two modern day werewolves who have escaped from werewolf prison. In their travels Doug and Brian show the conflicts and joys that go with relationships. It addresses social stigmas and stereotypes in a tongue in cheek way that drives home the point of the ridiculous stigmas that our society puts on people/groups. It was refreshing to see a werewolf film without any gore or lengthy "dog fights." I had the privilege of viewing this with the Writer/Director/Star of the film (thank you Doug!) who could not have been more gracious and friendly to the audience.

Fun, Funny & Furry

Warning: Spoilers
Two gay werewolves (aka "weers") are on the lam after breaking out of lycanthrope reservation (or jail)--and we, the viewers, are given the reward. This charmingly funny (and relevant) film is loads of fun and is a high quality film made on shoe-string budget--which makes it all the more remarkable.

Director & co-star, Doug Bari, has given us a film filled with laugh-out-loud humor--with some of the most hilarious comedy exchanges between two main characters that you will likely see--while underneath, providing us with a subtle look at love, growing old & finding acceptance. You will not be disappointed.

Filmed in and around Charlottesville VA, it was featured as part of the Virginia Independent Horror Film Festival--which took place at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester, VA this weekend (Sept. 26-27, 2014).

Hilarious

Loved this movie. It was hilarious and original. Congrats to all the actors and writers. Highly recommended. A funny take on the lack of acceptance of werewolves. The fact that they are gay, is incidental. While obvious, it was hilarious.

I saw this at the Virginia Independent Horror Film Festival. Which was also amazing.

I got to meet Doug Bari too, he was gracious, smart and funny. Support this and all independent movies.

We had the pleasure of meeting Doug Bari at the Santa Rosa Silver Scream. Both Doug and his film are delightful.

Very Funny Movie

It's a shame "Faux Paws" didn't have an advertising budget to gain more exposure because it really is a very funny movie. It's nominally about gay werewolves who break out of prison and their trek to Maine to be free, but it's really a film about freedom. It's witty and a lot of fun to watch the two main characters give and take, well acted in somewhat camp style by the two principals: the rest of the cast is also good. A lot of the film was shot on the road and much of the countryside is beautiful. It's apparent there wasn't a large budget to work with, but the film doesn't really suffer too much with the exception of one bit of makeup when one of the characters 'changes'. There's a lot to be said for small, independent movies like this one which are creative and well done, and I wish this one would get some word of mouth and notice because it deserves it. I think it would be a real crowd pleaser if it ever reached a wider audience.
