Sheldon becomes more human and Penny gains an ex
mooro61223 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Easily the best episode for a while. Real belly laughs. We had to rewind quite a few times because we missed the dialogue due to laughing too much. Sheldon goes from his usual obnoxious self to an almost normal human being, with the aid of a clearly missed father figure and a few beers. Meanwhile Howard can't get any sympathy for missing his father figure, probably because his mother figure is so large in his life. (In more ways that one) Raj goes further down the metro sexual road taking control in the kitchen, while Leonard gets mad when he finds out his girlfriend does not have a problem with marriage after all. Perhaps only marriage with him? Penny like many Americans apparently, thinks that marriages conducted in Vegas at themed chapels aren't legal, but just a bit of fun while on holidays. This leads to a bit of soul searching from Penny into why she can't seem to commit to Leonard. Bernadette and Amy also play their parts well and Bernadette's Dad finds an unlikely gridiron pal to bond with while watching the Thanksgiving Day football game. It is an episode where everybody contributes and the laughs flow thick and fast. Any thoughts that the show was losing it after the last few episodes is genuinely put to bed.

So Very Good!
Hitchcoc29 October 2021
Put everyone, including Bernadette's father, at the Walowitz house for Thanksgiving and it's the best. Where does one start? Penny reveals a secret about a Thanksgiving in Las Vegas that involves Zack. Sheldon's football knowledge joins him up with Bernie's father and they have a few beers. Howard is persecuted by everyone. And Raj has his true calling. But Zack has the best lines in the entire episode.

Best episode yet!

I discovered this show four days ago and this is my favorite episode so far!

Zach does not make a lot of appearances and Sheldon getting drunk is not something you see every day. I'm glad they use it sparingly, makes it so much more special when it first happens and getting both in one episode is jackpot for me! This episode is pure gold!

"The Thanksgiving Decoupling" was a really hilarious holiday ep of "The Big Bang Theory"

Warning: Spoilers
I had originally submitted this Thanksgiving ep review of "The Big Bang Theory" last year but someone had it deleted. I'll just say that this was another hilarious ep with Howard inviting everyone to his mother's house with not only Bernadette, Penny, Amy, Raj, Sheldon, and Leonard in tow but also Bern's dad who just wants to watch a football game. Oh, and how Sheldon changes personality when drunk! Of course, Howard's mom is still only heard, not seen. She's also not well so Raj ends up cooking the dinner. Oh, and Penny and ex Zack also have to do something that she regretted when they were in Vegas...Yeah, I remember really enjoying "The Thanksgiving Decoupling" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" when it originally aired.

Worse episode in the show
shawnglaciers-637105 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The jokes missed the mark constantly genuinely didn't laugh this episode once. The Sheldon jokes about slavery and Bernadette's father continuing his bullying of Howard make this episode unwatchable on rewatch of the show. No idea how this script got to tv.
