NBC is reuniting Parks and Recreation alums Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. The network Tuesday ordered “The Handmade Project,” a new unscripted series from Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions. Poehler and Offerman are set to co-host the competition series, which will feature artisans competing to impress judges with their hand-made crafts. NBC has given the series a six-episode season-one order.
In each episode, contestants will tackle projects based on a new theme, with the level of difficulty steadily increasing. At the end of the season, one contestant will be crowned champion.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of paper mache,” Poehler said.
Said Offerman: “People who make things are my favorite kind of folk. Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch.

"What the hell is this place?" Now they have my attention. Universal has debuted a new featurette for the upcoming Kong: Skull Island movie, showing some behind-the-scenes production footage inbetween interviews and talks with various people involved in the movie. This is the very first time we're seeing any footage from this, so it's exciting to see, especially knowing this eventually all leads to Kong vs Godzilla. The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and many others, all being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The scenery looks very impressive and I am intrigued to see more finished footage from this, but I do have a good feeling about it. Take a look. Here's the first behind-the-scenes featurette for Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island, from MTV: An action/adventure story centered on King Kong's origins. Though this fanmade trailer will be as close as we get to seeing Marvel vs. DC on the big screen, that won't stop Batman from meeting Loki. That's because Deadline reports Michael Keaton, fresh off his meta role in the much buzzed about Birdman, is finalizing a deal to join the cast of Kong: Skull Island, the Legendary Pictures production starring The Avengers and Thor villain Tom Hiddleston. There's no specifics on the characters they will play, but the film has been said to head to the mysterious and dangerous home of the titular king of apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. And let's not forget that another Oscar-buzzed actor, Whiplash star J.K. Simmons also has a role in the film that will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings of Summer, Nick Offerman: American Ham) with a script by Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein...

Just last week, Legendary Pictures retitled their Kong prequel pic and pushed back its release by several months. While the reason for the shift in both date and title weren’t offered, it seems production is still steaming ahead. Courtesy of a Deadline report, we’ve learned that Whiplash‘s hard-hitting mentor, J.K. Simmons has signed on for a role in the renamed, Kong: Skull Island.
Simmons will be joining comic book veteran, Tom Hiddleston, for the trek to Skull Island – home to cinema’s iconic giant ape, King Kong. Set to establish an entirely separate timeline from the events of other Kong films, this rebooted take will follow a gang of explorers who decide to venture deep into the island. Apart from that simple outline, there’s no details on who precisely Simmons will be portraying.

Netflix streaming is upping the ante this December, adding enough high-profile TV shows and movies to more than make up for last month's lackluster offerings.
On the movie side, highlights include Will Ferrell and gang in "Anchorman 2," the Heath Ledger-starring "A Knight's Tale," Cameron Crowe classic "Almost Famous," Oscar-winning "American Beauty," and horror hits "Oculus" and "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones." Oh, and let's not forget '80s classic "Troop Beverly Hills," '90s cult favorite "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," or Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Wolf of Wall Street."
And there's plenty to love about what's coming on the TV front: "American Horror Story: Coven" finally gets its day on Netflix, "Sharknado 2" storms its way to streaming, and Brit hit "Broadchurch" finally lands stateside. Oh, and December sees the premiere of the hotly anticipated Netflix Original series "Marco Polo" on the 12th.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the world was transfixed by Marvel’s typically-grandiose Hall H presentation. However, they weren’t the only studio on hand to deliver bombshells to the film industry in attendance. During their spot in the limelight, Legendary Studios revealed plans for a King Kong prequel titled Skull Island.
While news has been on the slow side, there are a few elements firmly in place. From the offset, Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein was brought on board to work on the script, which seemed to have satisfied the studio as they granted the pic a 2016 release date. Moving on a few months and news landed that Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, had signed on to take the leading role under the direction of Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Today’s news, which Deadline broke earlier, now reveals that Borenstein is off the project as he’s busy penning the sequel to Godzilla.

Marvel fans who can’t get enough of the demigod Loki may be drawn to the massive monster franchise Legendary is cooking up, as it’s just been announced that Tom Hiddleston will play the lead role in the upcoming King Kong origins movie, Skull Island. A new director has also been attached to the film that will explore the seemingly prehistoric island teeming with colossal creatures.
Legendary announced today that Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct Skull Island off a screenplay by Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein. Skull Island was revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con during a surprising teaser video that concluded with an amped-up King Kong. In late July we reported that Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) had been offered the director’s chair for the project, but now it is Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) who will helm the large-scale adventure.

The reaction for the King Kong reboot Skull Island at Comic-con back in July was at best a confusing one; but now that we know some more information, it’s sounding like a solid project that caught a lot of people off guard. It’s official now that Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) will direct Skull Island and Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) is set to star. Godzilla writer Max Borenstein will hand in the script for the movie that is set to open November 4th, 2016.
The film will apparently take place almost entirely on the island and the official press release below touches on some more details:

At San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, Legendary Pictures made the surprise announcement that a new King Kong movie was in the works. Titled Skull Island, the film will delve into the location of the iconic giant gorilla’s origin and will hit theaters on November 4th, 2016.
At the time, no other information about Skull Island - including plot details and the creative team that would bring it to life – were given. Legendary remedied that this morning though by announcing that fan-favorite actor Tom Hiddleston (Thor: The Dark World, Only Lovers Left Alive) is in talks to star in the action flick, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer, You’re the Worst) in the director’s chair.

After announcing it was moving forward with an origin story of sorts about King Kong's mystical home, "Skull Island," Legendary Pictures announced Tuesday that it had found the film's lead: Tom Hiddleston.
Yes, Loki himself will be shipping off to the titular mystical location, and what's more, the film just landed a director, too. According to the studio's official press release, Jordan Vogt-Roberts will helm the flick. Though there's no official plot synopsis yet, the Legendary release teased the following:
Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world.
Hiddleston's cinematic achievements are well-know to audiences already (see the above "Avengers" and "Thor" character), but Vogt-Roberts is a bit of a surprise pick to lead the high-profile project. He recently directed Sundance hit "The Kings of Summer" and the...

After directing the indie favorite Kings of Summer and returning to Sundance earlier this year with the stand-up comedy feature Nick Offerman: American Ham, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is heading into studio film territory next. Following in the footsteps of indie directors turned blockbuster filmmakers like Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World), Deadline reports Vogt-Roberts has just been tapped to direct Metal Gear Solid, based on the long-running video game franchise of the same name following a special forces operative named Solid Snake, who was first assigned to find the titular superweapon, a bipedal walking tank which has the ability to launch nuclear weapons. It's an interesting move for the director who hasn't really directed any action, but the same can be said for the aforementioned indie directors who made the big jump to blockbusters. Funnily enough, The Amazing Spider-Man producer Avi Arad is behind the project...

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, whose “Kings of Summer” played at last year’s Sundance, filmed “Nick Offerman: American Ham” over two shows during the same night. Each time, Offerman entered New York’s historic Town Hall Theater shirtless, his American flag button-down trailing like John Wayne’s do-rag. He promised minor nudity, but didn’t clarify it’d be of the hairy, plumpy midriff sort. “You didn’t know life could be this delicious,” he seduced the crowd. At first glance, Offerman might look as though he's auditioning for a spot on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. But as "American Ham" makes clear, Offerman contains more Stephen Colbert in his comedic DNA than Larry the Cable Guy. Offerman subtitles his show “Tips for Prosperity.” He has ten of them around which he structures the performance, ranging in audacity from “Use a Handkerchief” to “Say Please and Thank You.” The latter, in truth,...
