A bit of nostalgia
sooriyah0075 January 2016
Boy meets world was known for its great humour coupled with a lesson in every episode. Girls meets world tries to emulate the same concept but doesn't come as close. Until this episode where the kids learn about appreciating the "forgotten" class of people. Really brings back the old series feel where I left it feeling like I had grown slightly as a person and more appreciative of the people around me. I feel Topanga and Cory have really come into the parent role and are comfortable in it as compared to the first few episodes. Kudos to the writers and I hope this sets the bar for future episodes. Bringing back Harley as a mellowed down janitor was a good touch.

Great Episode. Great Lesson

Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode, The main lesson seemed to be about not taking people for granted. This is showcased in two ways that actually echo back to the Boy Meets World ep Fishing for Virna. In that episode we actually see a relationship growing bet Shawn and Chet as well as the return of Shawn's mother. The whole Virna arc shows a lot of emotional vulnerability on Shawn's part. The B story was about the death of Brenda the cafeteria lady who Cory seemed to have a genuine connection with while everybody else seemed to take her for granted as Cory said "Well I think you can make a volcano out of someone's mashed potatoes and nobody notices until the day it's not there anymore." What Cory does at the end to honor Brenda is great. This ties into this episode b/c once again we see a genuine relationship between Cory and Geralynn the lunch lady as well as his love for mashed potatoes. We also see the return of Harley Keiner as the school janitor who is at this point friends with Cory. Since the students are doing service electives Riley and Maya are assigned cafeteria duty and experience what it's like when you do something important but nobody pays attention or even says thank you which makes them realize that not only were they mistreating Geralynn but that they had been mistreating and ignoring Topanga much like in Fishing for Virna when everyone was ignoring Amy. In the end the girls learn to appreciate what people do for them. Lucas and Farkle on the other hand get assigned janitorial duty and have to work with Harley who they see works very hard for little to no appreciation or gratitude. We find out in Girl Meets Flaws that Cory actually got Harley the job as a janitor at the school. In the end both friend sets learn to be more greatful to the people in their lives
