Ryan Murphy is not one to shy away from many things. This even includes casting names not normally known for acting, such as Lady Gaga’s early crossover role when she made her appearance in the FX series, American Horror Story. Recently, Murphy even cast Kim Kardashian in a later season of American Horror Story, who isn’t the most popular figure, given the amount of exposure she’s received for years. Murphy would drop a teaser for his upcoming horror drama for FX, which you can watch below, and Deadline has reported that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will be making his Hollywood debut in Grotesquerie.

Huffman will appear in the second season of the Paramount+ continuation of the CBS series as a new character named Dr. Jill Gideon, the ex-wife of Jason Gideon.
The official description of the character states she is “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who agrees to help the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory. Netflix has given the green light to The Beast In Me, a limited series headlined and executive produced by Claire Danes. In addition to Danes, the mystery thriller project, created, written and executive produced by Gabe Rotter, is executive produced by Jodie Foster, Conan O’Brien via Conaco and Homeland co-creator/executive producer Howard Gordon who will serve as showrunner, reuniting with the acclaimed series’ star/executive producer Danes. 20th Television is the studio; Gordon is no longer under a deal at Sony Pictures TV, which explains his involvement.
The surprising mix of big names attached to the series reflects its long, twisty path to the screen — indicative of how hard it often is to get a show made — which we will get into in a bit. The story may also inspire aspiring writers not to give up.

The first three seasons of FX’s “Fargo” were embraced by the Emmys, racking up loads of nominations including for Best Limited Series. However, season four broke that pattern as critics and viewers alike came away largely disappointed by the series — it didn’t quite match up to the heights of the first three entries.
But “Fargo” season five look like it will get the show back in the Emmy spotlight. The season is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019 and tells the story of Juno Temple as a midwestern housewife plunged into dangers she thought were firmly in her past. Jon Hamm delivers a change-of-pace performance as a sheriff while Jennifer Jason Leigh turns in a wildly entertaining performance. Critics agree, this fifth season is a return to form.
Dan Eivar (Financial Times) observed: “The show’s masterful, suspense-ratcheting approach to action sequences is matched by its assured writing and considered character work.

“I am running for President,” states Regina King as Shirley Chisholm in the official trailer for the film based on the life of the eponymous trailblazing Black politician. In 1968, Chisholm became the first Black representative in the United States Congress, elected to serve one of New York’s congressional districts. Four years later, she makes that bold proclamation about her intention to run for U.S. President, becoming the first Black candidate to run for the office. The movie, written and directed by Oscar winner John Ridley, debuts on Netflix on March 22. Watch the official “Shirley” trailer below.
As the film chronicles, Chisholm’s aspirations for the presidency were not met with universal encouragement. Even though she took on the arduous task of mounting a presidential campaign because she has “an opportunity to make a difference,” she faces scrutiny for her positions, being told she sounds “just like every other politician.

Felicity Huffman, who was nominated for an Oscar for playing a trans woman in 2005’s “Transamerica,” wouldn’t take on such a role again.
It’s a role that she “wouldn’t be able to do now,” Huffman told The Guardian. “I think we should reflect the audience and that’s got to include everybody. There has been such inequity for so long and now the pendulum must swing the other way. But I hope it leads to a situation where anyone can play anything.”
Huffman was asked about meeting trans actor Alexandra Billings, who was due to play the lead in “Transamerica” initially, at an awards ceremony. “I have no memory of that,” Huffman told The Guardian. “As an excuse, I also have no oestrogen left in my body.”
In 2019, Huffman served 11 days in jail for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. “I walk into the room with it.

News broke in 2015 that John Ridley, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “12 Years of Slave,” was joining the Marvel family to develop a mystery superhero project for ABC. The network was already home to Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” at the time, and a spinoff series had just been announced prior to the Ridley news. Ridley was already a favorite at the network thanks to the acclaim for his anthology series “American Crime.” Suffice to say, Ridley’s Marvel project never happened.
Flash forward eight years, and Ridley finally revealed on the “Comic Book Club” podcast that he was developing an “Eternals” television series for Marvel long before the studio decided to make an “Eternals” movie with director Chloé Zhao and a cast that included Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and more.

Actor John Travolta returned to television decades after his breakout role in the TV sitcom Welcome Back Kotter. But his decision to revisit the small screen was heavily inspired by a conversation he had with two moguls in the entertainment industry.
John Travolta wrestled with being on this hit Ryan Murphy show John Travolta | Jason Laveris/FilmMagic
Travolta was cast in Ryan Murphy’s hit FX television series People vs. O.J. Simpson. The American Crime story was a dramatic retelling of the O.J. Simpson trial with Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. as the titular figure. Travolta would portray American attorney Robert Shapiro in the mini-series.
The series’ creator Ryan Murphy wanted to use inspired casting for his show, which landed him Travolta. The pair would eventually meet to discuss the show.
“I was trying to do the unexpected piece of casting,” Murphy recalled in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Plot: The true story of an actress (Anna Kendrick) who, in the seventies, went on The Dating Game and was matched with Rodney Alcala (Daniel Zovatto), who was later revealed to be a serial killer that may have murdered up to 130 women.
Review: The story behind Woman of the Hour is pretty wild, even as far as true crime goes. While the movie takes several significant liberties with her story, a young actress named Cheryl Bradshaw really did go on The Dating Game in 1978 and chose serial killer Rodney Alcala as her match. While the premise is thin, as there wasn’t much to Bradshaw’s interactions with Alcala beyond the show, Anna Kendrick, who makes her directorial debut from a Black List script by Ian MacAllister McDonald, has put together a chilling film.
Much of the film enters around Alcala’s murder spree, focusing on the young women he...

Notwithstanding the climate, the writers have been challenged in ways they couldn’t have imagined and yet, they keep showing up on the lines. Deadline spoke to multiple regulars, captains and coordinators from various lots as well as WGA leadership.
“I want to say thank you to every person who has come out to a picket line. We wouldn’t be as strong without you,” Goodman told Deadline on August 1 when a...

Claire Danes seems en route to her 10th Emmy nomination — and eighth for acting — for her turn on the FX limited series “Fleishman Is in Trouble.” Danes sits in second place in the Best Limited/TV Movie Supporting Actress odds, and a win would not only give her a fourth Emmy, but it would make her one of nine women to win both limited/TV movie acting categories.
A two-time Best Drama Actress champ for “Homeland,” Danes took home her first Emmy in Best Limited/TV Movie Actress for the HBO film “Temple Grandin” in 2010. She’s never been nominated in supporting for a limited series or TV movie, so “Fleishman” will represent the first chance she has to complete the set.

Ryan Murphy will depart Netflix at the end of his five-year, nine-figure overall deal, and is set to make a new home at Disney.
The producer behind hits including Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, 911 and American Horror Story is expecting to reunite with Dana Walden, who worked closely with Murphy when she headed what was then 20th Century Fox TV and he had a deal there. Walden, who is also one Murphy’s closest friends and confidants, is now co-chairman of Disney Entertainment. The new, not yet completed pact — Murphy’s Netflix deal doesn’t expire until the end of the month, after all — will bring Murphy back in-house with FX’s John Landgraf, with whom he has long had a close creative relationship, as well. Sources say the move has been in the works since well before the Writers Guild of America went on strike in May.
Disney declined to comment.

A running gag on the Hulu limited series “Welcome to Chippendales” was Nick De Noia (Murray Bartlett) telling people that he has won not one but two Emmys for choreographing “Unicorn Tales.” Now Bartlett can pick up a second Emmy this year in the very category he won last year for “The White Lotus,” Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor. And if that happens, he’ll break new ground as the first person to win the category two years in a row.
The list of people who’ve won Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor more than once is very tiny in general. Since the category was established in 1975, only Beau Bridges has won it multiple times, prevailing in 1993 for “The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom” and 1997 for “The Second Civil War.” You could count Michael Moriarty, but he only won this specific category,...

Fifty-two years ago, Gail Fisher (“Mannix”) followed Diahann Carroll (“Julia”) as the second Black woman to win an acting Golden Globe and the first to be so honored for a supporting TV performance. After all this time, her name remains the only one on the latter list, but she could soon be joined by Niecy Nash-Betts, who is looking to set a record of her own as the first Black actress to ever receive a Golden Globe for work on a limited series. If she succeeds on her bid for Netflix’s “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” she will also be the 21st Black actress ever honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in any competitive category.

The 1971 Golden Globes marked the first instance of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bestowing awards for supporting TV performances. The inaugural male and female recipients of these two prizes were James Brolin and Gail Fisher (“Mannix”), both of whom had won Emmys for the same roles eight months earlier. Fisher followed Diahann Carroll as the second Black woman to win a Golden Globe in any acting category, and, five decades later, remains the only Black Best TV Supporting Actress champ. She could, however, finally have company if Niecy Nash (“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”) catches the attention of enough voters this year. And Nash would make history in her own right by becoming the first Black actress to win a Golden Globe for any limited series.

I hope that it leaves a bit of a mark on our audience as well, because I’d like to see real change in our world come from it. We’re going to see natural disasters and collective crises, like the pandemic, happen more frequently and more ferociously. It’s not going to let up and we need to really decide who we want to be together as a society. How do we show up for each other in those moments? And ‘Five Days’ really points to a lot of failings on that front” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
