Ghost have released the trailer for their upcoming feature film Rite Here Rite Now, as well as advance tickets for the theatrical screenings and pre-order details for the original soundtrack.
The trailer offers a first glimpse at what fans can expect from the pseudo narrative-concert film that “fully immerses viewers in the technicolor melodrama” of the band’s “vaunted live ritual.”
The film was culled from footage from Ghost’s two sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2023, and most of the trailer is comprised of clips from the concerts. The now iconic song “Square Hammer” plays throughout, with an adaptation of its refrain serving as the film’s title.
Ghost and the filmmakers made sure the trailer didn’t give away too much. There are some dramatic cutaways to key characters in the Ghost lore, a brief bit of super-imposed animation, and other easter eggs for devout fans.

Beau DeMayo, the showrunner and executive producer behind Disney+’s upcoming animated series “X-Men ’97,” has been fired ahead of the March 20 premiere, Variety has confirmed.
DeMayo had completed work on Seasons 1 and 2 of “X-Men ’97” ahead of his exit. He will not attend the March 13 Hollywood premiere for the show. His Instagram account, on which he had been previewing artwork and answering fan questions about “X-Men ’97,” has also been deleted.
He wrote and produced “X-Men ’97,” which is a continuation of the popular “X-Men: The Animated Series” that aired on Fox Kids in the ’90s. It is unclear why DeMayo was fired from “X-Men ’97” so close to the premiere, but he will no longer promote the show or be involved with future seasons.
“He did excellent work writing Seasons 1 and 2, and I can’t wait for fans to see the series,” executive producer Brad Winderbaum told Variety.

Ghost have hit the road for a summer US tour, bringing fellow Swedes Amon Amarth along for the ride. The “Re-Imperator” officially kicked off with a packed show Wednesday night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.
Supporting their latest release, The Great Heathen Army, Amon Amarth got the ball rolling with a nine-song setlist that had the metalheads in the already full venue singing along. The band kicked off the set with “Raven’s Flight,” complete with a viking helmet drum riser, and two massive swordsman statues on either side of the stage. “Put Your Back into the Oar” was easily the crowd favorite of the set, as made obvious by the fans rowing along to the song. By the time the band wrapped up their brief set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard,” the entire venue was primed for the headliners.

Nina Kiri, known for her role as Alma on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has joined the cast of dystopian sci-fi adventure “Absolution.”
The title will be brought onto the market at Cannes’ Marché du Film Frontières platform, featuring in its Proof of Concept strand.
The Serbian-Canadian actor is no stranger to genre, having appeared in “The Heretics,” “The Haunted House on Kirby Road” or “Let Her Out.” Soon, she will also be spotted in Christos Nikou’s “Fingernails” alongside Jessie Buckley.
Directed by Filip Kovacevic, “Absolution” – a co-production between Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro – takes place in a barren wasteland, far removed from the mythical city of gods, with only one human settlement left.
Under the leadership of a zealous priest, who started conducting human sacrifice rituals after experiencing a religious vision, people are dying out. But things start to change when his younger brother finds a mysterious young woman, buried in a strange capsule.

Swiss auteur Simon Jaquemet’s “Electric Child” joins Ukrainian sci-fi comedy “U Are the Universe,” and “We Are Zombies,” from heavily rated Canadian trio Rkss, as three potential highlights at this year’s Cannes Marché du Film’s Frontières Platform, organized with the Fantasia Film Festival.
Focusing on genre, the Frontières showcase is emerging as one of the Marché du Film’s biggest market plays, supercharged by this year’s milestone Oscar triumph of “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” smart genre’s popularity among an emerging generation of filmmakers and its rising tide as one of the most resilient of independent movie market propositions.
For Rkss, it’s a return, having had great success with their previous “Turbo Kid,” which went on to Sundance, and won a bunch including at SXSW and Fright Fest.

As if heavily discounting tons of popular titles wasn’t already enough to convince gamers to remain at home during the ongoing global pandemic, many companies are now going one step further and simply giving away games for free. Indeed, the past few months have seen a ton of great sales and freebies being offered to folks who are desperate for new content to consume as they brave the quarantine, and thankfully, there’s now another game that can be yours for the low price of nothing at all.
Gog is giving away Hitman: Absolution free of charge for the next three days, and considering that it’s usually priced at around $20, this is a solid deal and well worth checking out while it’s live. Axeman trilogy writer and director Joston Ramon Theney has confirmed the release of #SinningWorks’ first comic book, scheduled to hit shelves this Fall. The one-off comic follows two surviving characters of Axeman 2: Overkill as well as a returning character from the original Axeman film. Says Theney:
It’s been a wild ride to get to this point – never having worked in comics before but luckily I’ve had a great artist to work with. This story was originally just a simple bridge between the events of Overkill and Absolution but has become so much more. It continues the journey of Kesha and Sunshine and shows you that there was more than meets the eye to their relationship and their relationship with Denise from the first film.
The comic also paves the way for a more substantive conclusion to the trilogy for the upcoming Axeman 3: Absolution. It closes the...

Filmmaker Joston “El Rey” Theney has confirmed that he is currently penning the script to the last installment of the Axeman trilogy, titled Axeman 3: Absolution. But that’s not all, Theney has also revealed that he is in pre-production on a one-off graphic novel and a series of books that will serve as origins stories for the film franchise.
Says Theney:
[Axeman 3: Absolution] is more of a straighforward slasher and kind of a character study on what generations of hate and revenge can do to the culture of a township and it’s people. And the concept and consequence of real forgiveness. With lots of blood and gore and unpleasantness thrown in. [The graphic novel] links the events of “Overkill” and “Absolution” so that it’s a smooth transition. And it will give you a sense of the new tone of the series and what the last film will feel like. The painful mistakes people have made in their pasts can often harrowingly influence the decisions they make about their futures, and the way they interact with their communities in the present. The director of Mercenary: Absolution talks to us about international appeal, tough guys, and all things Seagal...
I’m Den of Geek’s go to guy for Steven Seagal movies and, as such, was very excited when the opportunity to interview Keoni Waxman arose. He’s directed six movies that have starred Seagal and worked on the TV series True Justice with the big man.
Not only was I excited to speak to Waxman because I like his films, I thought he’d be an interesting interview subject. While I understand that interviews with big Hollywood stars are more popular, I felt like I would have a chance to speak to someone that many Den of Geek readers wouldn’t know much about, and that he’d be able to offer us an interesting perspective on a part of the film industry that we don’t have much access to.

Steven Seagal and Vinnie Jones star in Mercenary: Absolution. Matt has compiled 10 reasons why it's the toughest movie of the year...
When Den of Geek published our Top 25 must see movies of 2015, we placed the upcoming Steven Seagal movie Mercenary: Absolution in the top spot. I assume. I wasn’t involved in writing that one and didn’t actually get around to reading it. I heard it was good, though, and so naturally assume Seagal took the top spot.
It’s proved a canny prediction as the film delivers. Well, it has some flaws, but I think it’s alright. If you’re a fan of modern Steven Seagal movies then this is one of the better ones. If you’re not a fan of modern Seagal movies, this list is guaranteed to convert you. I’d stake the Den of Geek editorial team’s reputation on it.

There are a number of guys in Hollywood that I’d always want to talk with. And with the upcoming release of a film called Absolution, one of those opportunities happened. I’m talking the iconic Steven Seagal. Growing up watching movies like Hard To Kill, Under Siege, Above The Law and so many others, I was quite frankly pretty nervous to chat with this fine gentleman. Happily, it couldn’t have gone better. Seagal is a fascinating man. One that I was thrilled to...

I have fond memories of Steven Seagal kicking ass in movies like Hard To Kill, Marked For Death, and Under Siege. Hell, Seagal's brief scenes in Executive Decision were pretty awesome too. In recent years, the man has done everything from direct to video action flicks to reality television. Even at the age of 63, the man is still churning out movies on a regular basis. His latest, Absolution, opens next month and we have an exclusive first clip from the movie. When a contract killer (Steven...
