Shia Labeouf agreed to star in “The Peanut Butter Falcon” before ever reading the script.
“I knew I was in immediately,” Labeouf said at the Hollywood premiere Thursday night, explaining that the movie’s star, Zack Gottsagen, was the main reason he knew he had to be part of the project. “He’s been acting longer than me, he’s more trained than me, and he was involved with this project five years before I even got the call — it was intimidating.”
Labeouf’s eagerness to join the movie isn’t the only rarity of the indie film, which was created by first-time feature filmmakers Tyler Nilson and Mike Schwartz who dreamed of giving Gottsagen, a 32-year-old with Down Syndrome, a chance to become a movie star.
The decade-long friends took to the newcomer immediately after meeting him at Zeno Mountain Farm, a Santa Monica camp which brings together those with and without disabilities.

My first year at San Diego Comic-Con is in the can, and I have a few tips from my experience to pass on to anyone who may need it. My husband, Billy, and the other GeekTyrant originals, Joey and Free, have been going to Comic-Con for over a decade, so when I finally decided I could leave my kids and come to the convention and help carry the writing and editing load, Billy was gracious enough to try to prepare me. But this is where my first tip comes into play:
There is no preparing someone when it comes to San Diego Comic-Con:
I have attended the Phoenix Fan convention a few times, I have even attended Wonder-Con in Anaheim. There is nothing like this convention. It is larger in scope that I can describe. With well over 100,000 people in attendance, and a room (Hall H) that holds 7,000, it’s...

Happy birthday, Alex Rodriguez! The former New York Yankees star and Mlb icon turned 44 on Saturday. The night before, his fiancée Jennifer Lopez honored him in a very special way: She temporarily stopped her concert in Miami and had him come up onstage, along with her twins, Max and Emme, his daughters, Natasha and Ella, and her backup dancers. The guest of honor was presented with a 4-tiered Yankees-themed cake. J.Lo had the crowd yell, "Happy Birthday, A-Rod," and then she and her beau shared a sweet kiss. Lopez then led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" to Rodriguez. After the show, the two celebrated his special day at a...

Two new collections will delve into the music Elvis Presley produced in Las Vegas and Memphis in 1969, Live 1969 and American Sound 1969, which will be released August 9th and August 23rd, respectively.
Live 1969 commemorates the 50th anniversary of Elvis’ residency at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, which at the time, marked his first live shows in eight years. The musician performed 57 sold-out shows, during which he was backed by two vocal groups — the Imperials and the Sweet Inspirations — a full orchestra and band later known as the Tcb Band.

Hugh Jackman may have had to skip Ian McKellen’s birthday party to perform his one-man show, “The Man, The Music, The Show,” but that didn’t mean he couldn’t celebrate his “X-Men” co-star’s 80th.
Jackman took a moment at the Manchester Arena Saturday to lead the sold-out audience — some 50,000 strong — in a rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
“I’m sorry I can’t make your party, Ian,” Jackman said in an Instagram video of the moment. “But I think I might annoy about 50,000 people,” he said, as the audience broke into cheers and the camera panned around the arena. The crowd then proceeded to sing “Happy Birthday,” with Jackman vocals distinguishable through the mic.
He ended the video by blowing a kiss into the camera and saying, “Love you, man. Happy birthday!”

Despite acting as mortal enemies on the big screen, it looks like Hugh Jackman and Sir Ian McKellen couldn’t be better friends. The two X-Men stars, who appeared together in a total of five films across the long-running franchise, have obviously remained close since their time on camera together came to an end five years ago.
Case in point: McKellen turned 80 years old on Friday, so the multi-talented Jackman decided to give the performer the biggest round of “Happy Birthday” he’d ever heard. Posting a video on his Twitter account yesterday afternoon, the Wolverine actor shows up on the stage of his currently-running one man show, The Man. The Music. The Show. After apologizing for not being able to make it back in time for McKellen’s party, Jackman turns around, starts the music, and leads the entire crowd to sing “Happy Birthday” at once.

Robert Downey Jr. has shared a new video from the set of Avengers: Endgame, and it features the whole cast gathered together singing “Happy Birthday” to the first Iron Man film, which turns 11 years old today.
This video was obviously shot last year while the cast and crew were shooting the final epic battle scene between the Marvel heroes and Thanos and his army. In this video, the cast of the film are all suited up in their costumes.
Who would’ve thought that Jon Favreau’s little Marvel indie film Iron Man would have led to something like Avengers: Endgame!? Incredible.

Glenda Jackson was looking to do what no one has ever done before at the Tony Awards: win Best Actress in a Play in back-to-back years. Alas, she won’t get a chance to, as the Triple Crown champ was snubbed for her performance in “King Lear” on Tuesday.
Jackson, who prevailed last year for “Three Tall Women,” had been in first place in our Tony odds, but she was Mia on the shortlist, which, adding insult to injury, has six nominees. They are Annette Bening (“All My Sons”), Olivier winner Laura Donnelly (“The Ferryman”), Elaine May (“The Waverly Gallery”), Janet McTeer (“Bernhardt/Hamlet”), Laurie Metcalf (“Hillary and Bill”) and Heidi Schreck (“What the Constitution Means to Me”).
In hindsight, maybe we should’ve seen her snub coming. While the soon-to-be 83-year-old received stellar notices for her turn as the title character, the production itself underwhelmed critics. “King Lear” wound up with only one bid,...

The story of the Skywalker family ends December 20th, and in front of a cheering, lightsaber-waving crowd at Chicago’s Star Wars Celebration convention Friday morning, director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy finally announced the title of the final film in the saga: Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. The revelation came via the film’s teaser trailer, which also included a shock: the voice of the Emperor, played by Ian McDiarmid, who showed up onstage in person at its conclusion – “Roll it again,” he growled.

Last year, Glenda Jackson became the 24th performer to complete the Triple Crown of Acting when she won the Best Actress in a Play Tony Award for “Three Tall Women.” She can write another chapter in awards history this year by becoming the first person to win back-to-back Tonys in that category.
Jackson is the odds-on favorite to prevail for her performance as the titular character in “King Lear,” which opened Thursday on Broadway. She’d be the eighth person to win the category twice and the 11th to have multiple wins in the category. None of the previous multiple Best Actress in a Play champs triumphed in consecutive years.

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” has been quite stingy about offering clues as to how this super-secret (at least to the players who aren’t voted out) new limbo-land twist filled with outcasts will figure in the main game. But Thursday’s double-sized edition certainly revealed plenty. All six eliminated players — Reem Daly, Keith Sowell, Rick Devens, Aubry Bracco and Wendy Diaz — opted to hang out on the rather dismal island with hopes of returning.
As the preview showed for episode 7 showed, not only do the Kama, Manu and Lesu tribes merge next week. But the Edge of Extinction gang is back as well. Jeff Probst told Entertainment Weekly that what happens next is “epic.”
But that opens up a question or two. Keith returns with a disadvantage, a knotted rope, that he can foist upon his “biggest threat.” Chris found a bundle of sticks and some twine that he was...

Over the course of 38 seasons of “Survivor,” many players have gone home with hidden immunity idols in their pockets. However, precious few have been eliminated while in the possession of two secret advantages. “I woke up and none of this was a dream,” Aubry Bracco said after being voted out during Wednesday’s two-hour episode. “I got burned real hard last night. I truly was blindsided in epic fashion with an idol and an extra vote in my pocket. Like, J.T. At the conclusion of this week’s two-hour episode of “Survivor,” there are now six castaways at Extinction Island: Reem Daly, Keith Sowell, Chris Underwood, Rick Devens, Aubry Bracco and Wendy Diaz. Five of these are original Manu tribe members, while Aubry is the sole voted-out castaway from the original Kama camp. In the trailer for next week’s merge episode, Jeff Probst instructs this grumpy sextet to “Come on in!” which suggests it may finally be time for one (or more?) of these extinct players to re-enter the game. Who do you hope returns from the “Edge of Extinction”? Vote in our poll below.

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” is now four episodes in, so we are starting to get a sense of who will be the main players of this season and who are destined for elimination. The overall edit of this cast has been somewhat lopsided considering the same group of people has gone to Tribal Council every single episode, which means we don’t really have a sense of half the cast’s gameplay quite yet. With the original Manu tribe getting so much focus, there hasn’t been much room for original Kama to shine, though we have seen highlights from a handful of them. Below you will find my ranking of the seven “Survivor” castaways with the worst edits so far, whether that means they haven’t been shown much on the show or they have been seen in a negative light.

Episode 4 of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” was a shocking one for many who follow “the edit” when trying to figure out the winner. Rick Devens had been at the top or close to the top of many superfans’ lists of who had the winner’s edit this season, my own included, so it was a blindside to see him be voted out. He still has a chance of getting back into the game and winning thanks to Extinction Island, but this early elimination will surely make his path much harder.
With Rick off the board for now, we now look to other castaways still in the game to see if it is indeed they who have the winner’s edit. Let’s take a look at the top seven winner contenders after four episodes of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.”

Many will compare Olivia Wilde’s teenage comedy Booksmart to Superbad. Both tell the story of two friends who are about to graduate high school that want to end their senior year with an awesome night of partying — but that’s where the comparisons end. In Wilde’s feature directorial debut, we follow two young women (as opposed to Superbad‘s male-centric story) and we are given a totally different kind of high school romp that received quite an ovation at SXSW, making it another buzzworthy film out of the Austin-based fest.
The film appropriately premiered on Wilde’s birthday and before the screening a cake was brought out and the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” (the celebration continued at the afterparty with a performance from Santigold). After the screening, Wilde praised SXSW for letting her premiere her film there. Booksmart showcases what Wilde is capable of as a director and...

Looks like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are going all out for his 38th birthday. The Man of the Woods singer enters the second-to-last year of his 30s on Jan. 31, but since he has to work, he and Jessica planned to go out the night before instead. But before the party even got started on Wednesday night, Jessica dozed off in the car, and Justin hilariously recorded himself singing "Happy Birthday" to himself in a whisper. After waking up, Jessica laughed and said, "I'm just preparing for our big night out." Partying as adults - and especially as parents - is an ongoing struggle. Try not to go too wild, Justin!

You’d think a song that is everywhere on the Internet — exploding on music charts, racking up billions of streams and downloads and YouTube plays, and even making it into the celebrity zeitgeist as it did this week on Cardi B’s Instagram — would be making its creator filthy rich. But “Baby Shark,” the viral children’s song that’s taken 2019 by storm, isn’t paying out piles of cash to anyone, because no single songwriter has been able to claim ownership over it.
The tune first started bubbling up among U.

By network broadcasting standards, the night of January 20th, 1986, had more than its share of rarely-seen-on-tv highlights. Bob Dylan and his band glided through a gently pulsing, almost R&B take on “I Shall Be Released,” and Dylan joined Peter, Paul and Mary for “Blowin’ in the Wind” — remarkably, the first time all four had ever sung that song together onstage. Whitney Houston, energized and vocally stirring, bounded onstage to join Ashford and Simpson for “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
Even with all that star power, the night belonged to Stevie Wonder.

Happy Birthday, Jay-Z! The "Apesh*t" rapper turned 49 on Dec. 4, and he celebrated the occasion after headlining the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 with Beyoncé. The powerhouse couple rang in Jay-z's special day surrounded by family and friends, and shared an especially cute moment as Bey led the crowd in singing to her husband of 10 years.
In a video captured by South African DJ Black Coffee on Monday, the 37-year-old "Formation" singer is seen grabbing a mic and conducting a singalong. What a gift! However, she doesn't hold the mic too close - perhaps out of fear that her angelic voice will overpower the intimate crowd? You know she could harmonize the sh*t out of "Happy Birthday," and then we'd be legally obligated to set it as our ringtone. Watch the video in full ahead, and then catch up on the couple's sweetest moments.

Mc Hammer had a special treat for the 50th birthday of Oakland's one-time "crack king" -- a performance that pumped up the party, and proved Hammer's moves are still fire. Happy birthday, Hailey Baldwin! The model turned 22 years old on Thursday and celebrated her big day with Justin Bieber and their families. Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, shared a sweet video of the "Sorry" singer bringing his sweetheart a birthday cake topped with icing, strawberries and colorful, unlit candles. At one point, the pop star even shoved the dessert into Baldwin's face. Still, she didn't seem too mad about the prank and even gave Bieber a frosting-filled kiss. Luckily, Bieber had a second cake on hand for his leading lady. As the Grammy winner and his family sang "Happy Birthday" to Baldwin, a relative yelled out, "First married...

“Eventually country radio is going to get its shit together and play everyone,” Maren Morris told the crowd gathered yesterday at Cmt’s Next Women of Country showcase at Nashville’s City Winery. There to celebrate the 2019 class and accept the annual Impact Award presented by Natalie Hemby, Morris (part of the 2015 class) peppered that “eventually” with a certain kind of punch: maybe country radio will get its shit together, and maybe it won’t. But Morris, along with Cmt’s Leslie Fram and co-host Cassadee Pope, and the new class — comprising Anna Vaus,...

It borrows the title of a celebratory song sung around the world on a daily basis, but Kelleigh Bannen’s “Happy Birthday,” as depicted in the Nashville native’s melancholic new video, isn’t aiming to get the party started. Penned by Bannen with Claire Douglas and Dallas Wilson, “Happy Birthday” is a delicate and wistful look at life after love and the times when a phone call has to substitute for more intimate contact. (Think Adele’s “Hello” with a touch of sweet, acoustic twang.)

Emmy turned 70 this year, but her wrinkles still aren’t showing thanks to the tireless efforts of the production crew that helped put on the 2018 Emmy Awards. (See the complete winners list here.) After watching the ceremony on television all my life, I actually — gasp! — got to attend the telecast this year and witnessed “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Game of Thrones” take home the major series prizes. While seated in the Loge section of the Microsoft Theatre (directly behind all the celebs and underneath the nosebleeds), I uncovered these seven secrets about the Emmy Awards that you wouldn’t know unless you were actually there.

We’ve seen images and art previewing the upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, and now we’re a getting a look at the first footage of our teenage witch (Kiernan Shipka) as she “celebrates”(might not be the appropriate description) her 16th birthday.
Set to the strains of a haunting “Happy Birthday”, there is no dialogue and the focus is on our main character, with an appearance by Salem the cat at the end of the clip.
The logline per Netflix: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

Okay, well this is definitely not “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” huh?
In the first teaser for Netflix’s upcoming “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” we don’t get much in the way of plot or dialogue, other than a creepy rendition of “Happy Birthday,” but what we do get is a heaping helping of style and tone. That style and tone is a night and day difference from the Melissa Joan Hart version of this story.

Something witchy this way comes. The first footage from Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is here and, you guessed it, it's chilling. This isn't the Sabrina, the Teenage Witch of yore. In the preview, above, there's Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) locking lips with what looks like Harvey (Ross Lynch), so some things never change, but that's where the similarities to the original series seem to stop. Rituals, creepy horned creatures and a spooky rendition of "Happy Birthday" fill out the rest of the quick teaser. Sabrina's birthday was always tied to her magic, and it looks like that won't change. Netflix previously released a poster for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina teasing that...
