With three issues under the belt it is time for a mid-term assessment of Robotech. I’m thinking a solid B, though a book that only looks like getting better rather than dropping off. I have been finding myself enjoying the nostalgia, the places and people, more than the actual specific script and ongoing story. Pacing has varied a little as well, as has the focus. Is this going to be mostly Rick and Minmei focused? Are they just the initial focus, and everyone will get their time in the Sun at some point? Not sure. I do like the fact though that Brian Wood has achieved a good balance, between old touches and new, definitely a positive.
Hopefully by now we all know robotech is the technology designed by fusing human tech with alien, specifically from the...

Roseanne Barr and John Goodman are all smiles in one of the many photos to surface from the set of ABC’s forthcoming Roseanne revival.
Over two dozen pictures have been snapped and posted to social media since production got underway in October. Among them, you’ll spy much of the original cast, including Barr (Roseanne), Goodman (Dan, very much alive), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky No. 1), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Sarah Chalke (Becky No. 2, now appearing in a new role), as well as Shameless‘ Emma Kenney (David...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Last Man on Earth” Season 4, Episode 1, “M.U.B.A.R.”]
Like watching two sea-doos slowly arcing through the ocean on an unlikely, yet inevitable collision course, “The Last Man on Earth” Season 4 premiere offered a few tantalizing possibilities, but ultimately felt stuck on a predictable path.
There were plenty of callbacks from seasons past: The episode began by answering the Season 3 cliffhanger, in which Pamela (recurring guest star Kristen Wiig) saved Phil “Tandy” Miller (Will Forte) and the group’s lives by shooting Pat (Mark Boone Junior) before he could take out any of the other survivors. Though the visor-splattering burst of blood may have made it look like Pat was dunzo, he recovered long enough to put a bullet in Rear Admiral Roy Billups, Pamela’s former lover played by another one-and-done mega guest star, Jack Black.

With only five more episodes left for “Twin Peaks,” viewers are starting to prepare themselves for the end, which could be their final visit to that quirky, bloody world. In a recent press day for Showtime, network president and CEO David Nevins said he would wait for the auteur himself to call about any sort of follow-ups, but it looked unlikely.
While saying goodbye to the beloved series will be bittersweet, the experience could possibly be more painful if it ends on a cliffhanger. Season 2’s open-ended “How’s Annie?” conclusion alternately confounded, angered or delighted fans. With the “The Return,” many assumed that at long last answers from that suspenseful finale would come.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return,” Season 3, “Part 13” (Episode 13).]
History repeating itself on “Twin Peaks” has so far fallen into the category of not learning from or not being able to move on from past mistakes. Shelly (Madchen Amick) married an abusive man when she was too young and is now romantically involved with Red (Balthazar Getty), a man who’s been shown to have violent tendencies. Her daughter Becky (Amanda Seyfried) also married an abusive man.
In this past Sunday’s episode, Ed Hurley (Everett McGill) reveals through a heartbreaking look that he’s still in love with Norma (Peggy Lipton), while she’s involved with someone else. Even Ed’s nephew James (James Marshall) gives viewers major deja vu with his rendition of “Just You,” a song he had crooned in Season 2 of the original series with two dark-haired ladies backing him up.

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's great to be in the know. To have a moment (hopefully more than one) when the veil drops and, per that old song, the mysteries of love (of life) come clear. Part 12 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks opens with just such a scene, as FBI Agent Tammy Preston (Chrysta Bell) is initiated into the Blue Rose Task Force by her superiors Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer) and Gordon Cole (Lynch). The references Albert drops—to things like "Project Blue Book" and to people like "Chet Desmond"—will be familiar to any Peaks obsessive who has pored over the original series, the Fire Walk with Me movie, or Frost's 2016 tie-in novel The Secret History of Twin Peaks. But remember that...

Sarah Chalke will play D.J.’s wife in ABC’s forthcoming Roseanne revival… is an icky, incest-tinged, so-wrong-it’d-be-right theory I posited to Becky No. 2 over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. Roseanne is returning to ABC for an eight-episode revival, two decades after the blue-collar family sitcom ended its nine-season run on the network.
The core original cast – Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky) – will return for the reboot, which premieres in 2018, Deadline reports.
Sarah Chalke, who intermittently played Becky from 1993 to 1997, will appear as a different character. It remains unclear if Johnny Galecki, current star of CBS sitcom juggernaut The Big Bang Theory, will reprise his role as David.

I’ve grown to appreciate Vin Diesel over time so I thought it as high time I checked out his xXx franchise. I know it was intended as high octane action, his Rambo or Commando and it’s been fifteen years since the first such file. He supposedly died after the first while a second film focused instead on a different member of the XXX program, Darius Stone (Ice Cube). Diesel has been talking about xXx: The Return of Xander Cage since 2006 but it took a decade to finally get it done and in all that time, you would have thought they’d come up with a story.

It’s time once more for Wrestlemania the biggest professional wrestling and sports entertainment event for fans and performers that there is. On Empire Season 3 Episode 10, our favorite feuding family returned from winter break with a bang. Actually, quite a few bangs.
At first, it looked like we were doomed to more of the same old, same old when it comes to Cookie, Lucious and company.
But, then Lucious did the double whammy when he allied himself with Angelo's mayoral rival and appointed Anika as head of A&R at Empire, and Cookie retaliated by smashing up every symbol of his success she could find.
Naturally, her rage turned into passion, and the two exes nearly ended up back in the sack again until Cookie put a stop to it all.
What will be the fallout of Cookie's actions? Will she confess her momentary indiscretion to Angelo? Will Lucious spill the beans, or will he keep quiet and hold it all over Cookie's head as leverage?
Meanwhile, Jamal has gotten out of...

In the new Power Rangers film, the five colorful superheroes tackle much more than just evil aliens. The latest reboot of the popular ’90s show has the five rangers also dealing with several important topics facing teens today.

To any ’90s kid who raced home after school for morphin’ time: Put those L.A. Lights back on and get ready to run to a movie theater.
When candy-colored Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on Fox in 1993, the TV show’s central characters were spandex-clad “teenagers with attitude” who — in addition to dealing with high school romances and bullies — were tapped by an alien life force to protect Earth from extraterrestrial evildoers.
That premise remains intact in the new big-screen reboot, but both the teens and the action have been upgraded inside and out.
Gone are the TV show’s low-budget fight scenes.

Steven Spielberg's follow-up to Jaws was shrouded in mystery. Ryan looks back at Close Encounters' hush-hush production...
Shortly after the release of X-Men spin-off Logan in March, director James Mangold took to Twitter to vent is frustration about the clamour of interest surrounding his new movie - specifically, whether or not it had a post-credits scene.

"People wonder why I care," a clearly agitated Mangold wrote. "I care 'cause filmmakers now make films under crippling security because of parasitic gossip. Makes movies worse."
While it's certainly true that the internet allows rumours and leaks to swirl around the planet with unprecedented speed, filmmakers' desire for secrecy is far from new. The more directors and studios try to keep their upcoming projects away from the public gaze, the more intent the film press...

Hollywood is really investing hard in nostalgia these days, but I’m not sure even those who loved “Power Rangers” back in the day were really clamoring for a big screen version. But Lionsgate hopes a big bucks blockbuster can kick off a new franchise, and as far as the tone goes, they’re embracing the “yeah, this is kinda weird” spirit you might be feeling.
A cast of mostly new and rising faces — Dacre Montgomery, Rj Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G and Ludi Lin — are the young heroes who find themselves with color coded abilities, and must jump into action when a threat from beyond arrives.

The new Predator film sounds like it'll be the funniest one yet, and we find ourselves completely here for it...
Shane Black's The Predator is now firmly in the grips of its post-production bits and bobs, and a first trailer can't be too far away, as filming wrapped quite a few months back in Vancouver.

We unapologetically love the Predator franchise here at Den Of Geek. Yes, even that one....and that one....yes, even that one had its moments...okayyy, maybe not that one. But are we ready for a proper Predator horror comedy? We didn't think we were, but having roared with laughter through Black's last three films - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys - mayhaps, just mayhaps, we are. Which is good,...

Karen’s asking “What is a podcast?” like Downton Abbey‘s Dowager Countess getting befuddled by the concept of a weekend. April’s sounding out the word “transgender” like a kindergartener staring down a three-syllable word on the blackboard. And Kate’s biological clock is ticking so loudly that she can’t hear how ridiculous it sounds when she gets swoony over phone calls from an iPhone contact tragically known as “Taco Guy.”
