- With 'A' back in their lives, the girls are determined more than ever to know his/her identity. While Ali prepares to run away from Rosewood, Hanna faces a challenge in her relationships. Detective Tanner digs deeper into the death of Shana.
- Open at the fire with the girls getting a text from A: "Did you miss me, bitches?" Toby is nowhere to be found as the house explodes.
Later Spencer learns nobody was inside the house. The girls try to figure out who A might be. They suggest A's been dormant and has now decided to resurface.
Caleb shows Hanna a newspaper headline which describes the fire as a natural gas explosion. He thinks the girls should go the police. She responds that "it's not the same as when you left." He says he won't be around long.
Ezra tells Aria he's been looking for a connection between Mrs. DiLaurentis and Bethany Young. He wonders if A killed both of them.
Spencer and her father argue over what's been happening. He wants to know what's happening and she tells him they know he was lying about where he and Melissa were the night Mrs. DiLaurentis died. He is adamant he'd never take anybody's life to cover up anything she did.
Aria tells Spencer about Ezra's research. Spencer wonders if she's back together with Ezra and Spencer admits to having had two "slips" with him. Spencer is furious. The other girls join them and Alison gets a text video that shows dirt being shoveled onto her mother. The message is "I buried your mom the same way I watched her bury you." --A.
With the revelation that A killed Alison's mother, Spencer now feels guilty she accused her father of committing murder. Alison wants to leave Rosewood again but they don't think there's anywhere for her to hide.
Spencer goes Radley and speaks with Eddie. She tells him about the Cavanaugh settlement and asks about Bethany Young, whom he says he can't talk about.
Alison is staying with Hanna. Travis comes over and reminds her she forgot a date with him that night. She tells him she doesn't remember anything about Lucas' party. Back inside Hanna finds Alison on the phone, seemingly finalizing plans to leave. Alison is planning to get out of town. Hanna says she'll help her.
Aria tells Ezra that what happened between them doesn't mean they can return to the way things were. There is a knock on the door. It's Lt. Tanner, wanting to ask him a few questions. She asks how well he knew Shauna. She thinks it's quite a coincidence that he was shot the night before she was killed, Shauna had gun residue on her person and her body was found in the theater his family owns.
Emily wants Paige to tell her the names of those conspiring with Mona. Emily tells her the person who blew up Toby's place is now threatening Alison.
Spencer asks her mother to speak with her father at some point to tell him what's going on. Peter then walks in, a product of Spencer's putting them together.
Alison's plan is to take the train to Princeton. Hanna offers to drive her. Alison wants to see her father before she leaves town.
Spencer watches as her parents touch hands at the table.
Aria wants Ezra to get rid of his records in case Tanner comes back with a warrant. He thinks she's worried for nothing, but agrees to move a few things. Aria offers to use her attic. An envelope is left at his door. It contains a painting that seems to depict Mrs. DiLaurentis being attacked by a monster. It is signed by a "Bethany."
Emily shows up at Hanna's to tell her that Paige admitted Lucas and Melissa were in on the plan with Mona. Emily spots the train ticket and realizes Alison is trying to leave. Emily is upset that Hanna didn't tell them and wonders if perhaps something else is going on.
Paige finds a dead rat in her locker at the pool.
Alison is unable to meet with her father, instead speaking with him briefly over the phone. She hangs up and walks out. We see a shadowy figure was in the house with her.
Spencer Googles Bethany Young. She finds several links connected with Radley and jots down some notes.
Alison prepares to leave, grabbing some fake IDs and cash she had hidden away. A person sneaks up from behind her and hits her in the back, then starts choking her. Emily arrives at this very moment and chases off the assailant. Alison is alive, but doesn't want Emily to tell anyone what happened. Emily thinks she shouldn't leave that night.
Hanna goes to see Caleb. She tells him about helping Alison leave and admits that part of her wanted Alison out of town. She tells him she hopes he decides to stay. They share his flask.
Aria wonders if maybe Ezra should tell Tanner the truth about being shot by Shauna. They see on a camera that Eddie was the one who left the painting at his door. She tells Ezra that Spencer spoke with him earlier that day.
The girls comfort Alison. They have no idea who attacked Alison. Aria shows them Bethany's painting. Spencer thinks this was Eddie way of telling them there was something to look into at Radley. Spencer thinks she has a "way in" to Radley. A sends Alison a text: "See how easy is it for me to kill you? If you leave Rosewood, I will." They wonder why A would want her alive and in town.
Later Alison thanks Emily for saving her. She then asks if she can stay over, promising "we'll just sleep." Emily sits up all night and watches over her.
Spencer meets Veronica at the coffee shop. Veronica tells her they've moving back home, but Peter is moving out. They aren't getting back together. Spencer begs her mother to give Peter one more chance, but it's not happening.
Travis tells Alison he's tired of her not being committed to him. He's aware Caleb is back in the picture.
Aria applies to be a volunteer at Rosewood.
Tanner drops by Alison's place. She wants Alison and her father to come by the station and answer a few questions about Shauna. Tanner wants to know where Alison was that night and seems aware the story about the girls being in Philly is bogus. Tanner walks away and A sends a Alison a text: "Time for the caged bird to sing."
