A good, solid episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was much, much better than the opening episode of Season 8, and a lot of the dialogue included science, something which has been relatively rare from Season 5 onwards, although Season 6 did improve upon Season 5, and Season 7 improved upon Season 6 likewise. Hopefully, Season 8 will be as good as Seasons 1-4; I doubt this will be the case, but if it includes more episodes like this one, then it'll be a great season. Sheldon's storyline concerning his research area is interesting, and the dialogue between Howard and Sheldon was very good in this episode. Sheldon also referenced Fig Newtons not being named after Isaac Newton, which is the second time this fact has come up in the series, the first being in a Season 3 episode. Whether it was done intentionally or not, I don't know, but it signified a return to the 'science-y' dialogue, at least for this episode. As for Sheldon's teaching career, he has, of course, had to teach students before in the series, and he didn't do very well at it then, but hopefully he'll stick with it. It's also interesting that Dennis Kim, in Season 1, stated that Sheldon's string theory research was a dead end - it turned out to be prophetical: perhaps he really can see the Matrix!

I thought "The Junior Professor Solution" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" was enjoyable enough

Warning: Spoilers
The second ep of "The Big Bang Theory" this season in a nutshell: Sheldon is told in order to drop his string theory study, he has to agree to become a professor: that is, teach a class. Since Howard wants to get a doctorate, he becomes Sheldon's only student...but Sheldon seems only interested in one-upping Howard on most knowledgeable facts. Amy spends some time with Penny sans Bernadette and vice versa since Penny doesn't want to study up on her new job which makes Bernadette think she's not taking her job seriously enough. Amy's just glad to finally be the popular girl! I'll stop there and just say this was another funny enough episode of the show that I was pretty entertained most of the time. Only question concerning the characters: When are we gonna see Raj's girlfriend Emily again? On that note, "The Junior Professor Solution" was an enjoyable enough ep of "The Big Bang Theory".

A bit worse than I had hoped

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS!

The second episode of the eighth season did not impress me as much as the first episode did; and despite some funny scenes, the episode to me was just not that funny. To be fair, if I had to place this episode on the 'All Time Big Bang Theory episodes list; it would be at the bottom half of the rankings. I think the writers are over- using Sheldon's character a bit which we unfortunately began to see towards the end of the seventh season; the guy is just starting become a parody of himself! Also, the lack of some characters in the first two episodes is pretty disturbing as well. I mean; if I actually think about it, Leonard and Raj for example did not have a single line that actually made me laugh. Hopefully this serious character development issue will be resolved during the season. My rating is:

7.5

Amy enjoys just being a girl. Sheldon has to become a teacher.

Warning: Spoilers
OH dear. I had such high hopes for this season- but it looks like more of the same antics. Same personalities with little growth, learning or change. Exceptions in this episode are Amy and Howard. Howard is finally standing up for himself and facing down Sheldon's constant disparagement of his intellect. He was actually quite sincere and real. Amy is finally living out her missed teenage years in her confidence sharing with the other two girls. But she is aware of what she is doing. Also in the last episode, she appeared to be assessing herself in relation to Sheldon and deciding what she will or will not put up with. Sheldon continues to act like a child. Why the others put up with him is a constant nagging question now. My patience is growing thin also.
