The twentieth anniversary of the chemical attack ordered by Khaled on Ma'an, which killed 20,000 civilians, is approaching. Jamal and his team need to decide what to do about the anniversary. What factors into their decision is a single civilian act in the square that allows Ihab Rashid, who Jamal freed from prison on Barry's advice, to mobilize the general populace against the act from twenty years ago. While Tariq wants to clamp down on all protests, Barry believes Jamal has to address the issue and apologize for the actions of their father. But a resulting action in the square makes Barry reconsider his advice. He may get a clearer picture of what the people really want by information from their maid via Molly, and from a discussion with Fauzi. Meanwhile, Leila has returned to Jamal's bed, but they have not resumed a sexual relationship as Jamal will feel emasculated if he can't perform. Sammy laments that his and Abdul's relationship has not progressed the way he envisioned. And Emma may get to the first breaking point of enduring their current life in Abuddin.
