I was expecting an action/thriller based on the blurb, but this is a snail-paced story of redemption with some religious overtones. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but definitely not edge of your seat. Great acting particularly considering the no name cast, and overall a good movie.

A Very Worthwhile Film

"The Turn Out" takes a look at truck stop prostitution and deserves an audience. There's no graphic sex; there are religious overtones, but no real preaching.
The director Pearl Gluck apparently spent months working with sex-trafficking survivors, and the no-name actors give convincing performances.
Just as effective as https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4547938/, a film with bigger names but similar subject matter.

A Serious Indie Director

Actually a very well made low budget indie film. Not all of the acting is that good, but it's not all that bad overall even in this regard. The film has many strengths. The film is very well shot, and nicely edited. The Director knows what they're doing. They deserve a shot with a bigger budget.
The Turn Out reminded me a little of some of Paul Schrader's films because it feels very real, and it's also a leisurely paced slow burn kind of a mysterious drama. But like Schrader's slow burn films also, it remains interesting enough to enjoy that pace for those that are into these kinds of films. It is a realist film, so some people may find it too bleak, or dark. So far only 106 people have rated this on here and it has a 5.7/10. Such a shame really. To me, the film isn't overly bleak or anything. It's a sad subject, our world's imperfect. We already know this going into it hopefully. There is some strong realist human drama here however. I also found a few moments of the film to be laugh out loud funny. This film captures some very real life. This is not easily accomplished by most filmmakers. A very solid indie film, somebody in Hollywood, give this guy some money and get him rolling into more projects pronto, please!

Raw, Well-Crafted Film

I was really moved by The a turn Out, Directed by Pearl Gluck. The Acting was very moving with some hard subjects and real people. The film had a lot of heart, hope and beautiful moments. The Turn Out really captured the day-to-day life of a truck driver, while delving into the nitty-gritty of one man's struggle what his humanity.
Much better than I expected...

The main character Crow bar was likeable and the actor did a great job. I really was pleasantly surprised. This was a socially responsible film that shed light on a dark subject right here in the U. S.
I wish more filmmakers would make films like to show how these poor woman and men are trafficked and abused they need our help. The film made me want to help so I have recently done some volunteer work.
I just wish the film would have shown how the girl who was the victim was thank ful to the trucker for rescuing her and I would have like to know if she stayed in touch with him. I also think that her and her siblings were not really the children of that awful woman and man who pimped them out. All and all a good movie that I would reccomend.

Down to Earth & Real

I expected the usual unrealistic storylines with fake movie characters. I liked that the actors were everyday people. It reflected life as it is. Authentic & not predictable. Very convincing actors. Broke my heart a little bit. Much enjoyed the music & especially the lyrics.
