Holy Matrimony! Holy Cow!

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3 may be best summarized in the words "the teal dress." It was the fateful moment that Demelza put on the old dress that she found in a trunk that led to her asking Ross Poldark to unzip it for her. The next thing you know is that Demelza is radiant. One thing led to another, and Ross and Demelza end up in chapel in a ceremony presided over by Reverend Ogders.

This episode also marks the reopening of the Wheal Leisure copper mine. Ross treats his workers much better than his rivals. At Trenwith manor, the grumpy Charles Poldark berates his son Francis for not minding their Grambler mine as efficiently as Ross oversees Wheal Leisure. But Francis has a gambling problem and has none of the fortitude of Ross. He is also unfaithful to Elizabeth when he has a liaison with the courtesan.

There are always clever names among the Poldark characters. Dr. Choake successfully delivers a baby boy, Geoffrey Charles, to Elizabeth and Francis. But Dr. Choake is not as confident in treating Charles' heart condition.

Young Jim Carter the poacher is sentenced to two years at Bodmin Jail, avoiding transportation that would have been his fate had not Ross served as a character witness at trial. Now poor Beth must fend for herself and her newborn.

The episode closes with Ross and Demelza at the altar. Holy matrimony! Holy cow!
